Abstract

This study was conducted in May by 2015 at Pelabuhan Perikanan Samudera Bungus, West Sumatra. The purpose of this study is to create a map of the fishing ground Cakalang (Katsuwonus pelamis) in West Sumatera by using Aqua MODIS satellite image. This study used a survey and spasial analysis . The survey methods used to obtain data on secondary i,e the catch is Cakalang (Katsuwonus pelamis) from January-December 2013. The fishing ground of the Cakalang used in this study are at 00 ' N – 40 50 26 ' S and 980 08 ' E – 1000 57 ' E.The distributionof sea surface temperature analyzed satellite imagery Seadas 7.2 rangging from 28,98-31,19 0C whereas maximal catches as much as 14.4500 Kg in the East season. Keywords:sea surface temperature, satellite image, MODIS Aqua, (Katsuwonus pelamis)

Abstract

The West Sumatera waters is one of the waters that has a huge potential for fish resources. Many fishing activities carried out near the coast, and fishing gear used in West Sumatra waters is a Bagan. This study aims to determine the relationships between sea surface temperature and Chl-a concentration with pelagic fish catches in West Sumatera waters. The data used were SST and Chl-a in the periode of 2014 – 2016. The variability of SST and Chl-a data was analyzed using Empirical Orthogonal Function (EOF) method. This study shows that the EOF SPL mode indicates that the overall value of SPL range is above the average (positive anomaly) with a total variance of 81.24%, while the Chl-a shows that the overall value of variability is at an average (negative anomaly) variance of 70.23%. The results of cross-correlation between SPL and pelagic fish have a lag time of 2.2 months, meaning that pelagic fish predates SST and predominantly occurs in a 6-month period. The relationship between Chl-a and pelagic fish was dominant in the 0.5 year period which showed a gap between Chl-a and pelagic fish catches with a lag time of 22 days.

Abstract

Fish feed is one of the highest cost components in carrying out intensive system fish farming activities which makes the high price of feed will affect the continuity of the aquaculture business. For fish cultivators, high feed prices will cause difficulties because about 60% of production costs come from feed. The high cost of feed is partly due to the fact that some of the raw materials for feed are still imported. Biogas waste from cow dung is a potential source of alternative raw material for fish feed with adequate quality of carbohydrate nutrients accompanied by guaranteed quantities and availability throughout the year. The purpose of this activity is to socialize in the manufacture of fish feed from biogas waste from cow dung in Teluk Roban Village, Sorkam Tapanuli Tenah District. The method used is to carry out direct training activities with demonstrations of the procedures and stages of making fish feed in the form of pellets for fish cultivators and the community. The results obtained from this activity are expected to be later for fish cultivators or community groups to understand the manufacture of fish feed in the form of pellets from biogas waste from cow dung as a business that can fill the local market that has not been filled with much and can compete in the business of making fish feed. . With this activity, it is hoped that there will be an increase in the skills of making fish feed in the form of commercial-scale pellets for the local market
