Abstract

Bandar Kayangan Lembah Sari Lake is a man-made lake that is used to store water for agricultural and tourism purposes. There are many aquatic plants present in the lake and to understand the types and coverage area of the aquatic plant, a study was conducted in March-April 2016. A purposive sampling method was applied in collecting the aquatic plant. The plants were then identified based on Van Steenis (1981). The map of Bandar Kayangan Lake was downloaded using Google Earth application and the aquatic plant coverage areas in each station were then measured as a basis to predict the plant coverage area in the lake. The aquatic plants found during this study consisted of 4 families and 4 species, they were Cyperus rotundus, Paspalum commersoni, Nymphaea sp., and Pandanus sp. The aquatic plants coverage in the Bandar Kayangan Lake was around 18% and it is categorized as rare. The area that is not covered by aquatic plant was around 82% (1,054.058 m2).Keyword : Bandar Kayangan Lembah Sari Lake, aquatic plant, coverage area.

Abstract

Pangasius polyuranodon commonly inhabit rivers in Riau such as Kampar and Siak Rivers. Evironmental condition of those rivers, however, are different. The Siak River has bad water quality, while that of the Kampar River is better and thus affects the morphological characteristic of the fish in general. To understand the morphological charateristic of fish from both rivers, a study has been conducted in March – June 2019. Fish was sampling once and they were analyzed in the laboratory. Results shown that general characteristics of the fish from both sampling areas are similar. The length-weight relationship, however, shoun that fish from the Siak River was smaller than that of the Kampar River. There was 170 – 360 mm TL, 41 – 474 gr BW and b value was 3,00 (isometric) for the fish of the Kampar River and there was 160 - 290 mm TL, 23 – 100 gr BW and b value was 1,83 (negative allometric). Secondary sexual characteristic of the fish from the Kampar River occured at around 250 mm TL, while that of the Siak River was 190 mm TL. Based on data obtained it can be concluded fish from the Kampar River growing faster than fish from the Siak River.

Abstract

Fish feed is one of the highest cost components in carrying out intensive system fish farming activities which makes the high price of feed will affect the continuity of the aquaculture business. For fish cultivators, high feed prices will cause difficulties because about 60% of production costs come from feed. The high cost of feed is partly due to the fact that some of the raw materials for feed are still imported. Biogas waste from cow dung is a potential source of alternative raw material for fish feed with adequate quality of carbohydrate nutrients accompanied by guaranteed quantities and availability throughout the year. The purpose of this activity is to socialize in the manufacture of fish feed from biogas waste from cow dung in Teluk Roban Village, Sorkam Tapanuli Tenah District. The method used is to carry out direct training activities with demonstrations of the procedures and stages of making fish feed in the form of pellets for fish cultivators and the community. The results obtained from this activity are expected to be later for fish cultivators or community groups to understand the manufacture of fish feed in the form of pellets from biogas waste from cow dung as a business that can fill the local market that has not been filled with much and can compete in the business of making fish feed. . With this activity, it is hoped that there will be an increase in the skills of making fish feed in the form of commercial-scale pellets for the local market

Abstract

Juaro (Pangasius polyuranodon) are found in the Kampar River and Siak River in Riau Province. The waters of the Kampar river are still in accordance with the quality standards and the waters of the Siak River are indicated by liquid waste pollution as evidenced by the results of air quality measurements, namely free CO2, BOD, Phosphate which are below the quality standard according to Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001. Decreased air quality can affect fish growth. and from the circular pattern of otolith growth. This study aims to determine the growth pattern of juaro fish in the waters of the Kampar and Siak rivers. This research was conducted in March – June 2019. The research method used a survey method. The otolith was sharpened using the Windarti (2013) method to see the growth circle pattern. Furthermore, the pattern and number of Dark Growth Circles (LPG) were seen using a microscope. 60 fish samples were taken (30 fish from the Kampar River and 30 from the Siak River). The results of the study showed that the LGP muscle of juaro fish from the Kampar River had 1 dark circle, while in the Siak River the darkest circle opened 3 pieces. These results concluded that the growth rate of juaro fish in the Kampar River and Siak River had experienced obstacles/disruptions in their lives.

Abstract

Pangasius polyuranodon is one of the fish that lives in the Siak River, Riau Province. Where the water quality in the Siak River is included in the heavily polluted category. Availability of food, reproductive success, and growth patterns of fish are important factors in fish survival Pangasius polyuranodon. To determine the effect of decreasing water quality on these fish, a study was conducted in December 2016. Sampling was carried out once / a week and was caught at four stations in Pekanbaru City. A total of 42 fish were caught with 18 female fish and 24 male fish. Observation of gastric contents was carried out using the gravimetric method. The gastric contents that have been analyzed are used as a basis for, counting Preponderance Index (PI). Observations showed that the main food of fish Pangasius polyuranodon are plants (PI 56.19), insect complementary foods (PI 18.04) and oil palm (PI 16.45), additional foods in the form of gastropods (PI 2.97) and fish (PI 0.20). Based on the level of maturity of the gonads, the results showed that fish eat more insects and oil palm for gonad development. Based on the data obtained from this research, this fish is an omnivore and the decrease in the quality of the Siak River waters does not significantly affect the eating habits of the juaro fish.
