Abstract

Pendahuluan: Penularan penyakit infeksi termasuk Covid-19 tidak terlepas dari interaksi antara agen penyebab penyakit -host dan lingkungan. Upaya peningkatan daya tahan tubuh host agar dapat bertahan terhadap serangan virus juga merupakan hal yang penting dilakukan, antara lain dengan pemanfaatan bahan alam. Jahe merupakan salah satu bahan alam yang telah terbukti dapat memperkuat imunitas. Pada masa pandemi dibutuhkan banyak agen penggerak yang bisa menularkan pengetahuan yang didapatnya ke lingkungan sekitarnya, dan remaja masjid adalah salah satu kelompok yang memenuhi kriteria tersebut. Kegiatan ini dimaksudkan menyampaikan pada remaja masjid manfaat jahe untuk memperkuat imunitas dan cara mengolahnya menjadi minuman yang segar dan enak dikonsumsi.Metode: Kegiatan dilakukan melalui tahapan assessment, koordinasi dan pelaksanaan edukasi. Edukasi diikuti 45 remaja masjid dan takmir masjid Asy Syakur, Buran, Tasikmadu Karanganyar dengan metode ceramah dan demonstrasi pembuatan minuman jahe.Hasil: Peserta antusias mendapatkan pemahaman, terlihat dari sesi diskusi. Peserta menyatakan mendapat pengetahuan baru dalam pemanfaatan bahan alam menjadi jamu untuk meningkatkan imunitas.  Selain itu minuman yang dibuat telah dicoba dan dapat diterima karena rasanya enak dan segar.Kesimpulan: Jahe dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai minuman herbal sederhana yang mudah dibuat dan dapat diterima masyarakat.Kata kunci: herbal; jahe; imunitas; remaja masjid

Abstract

ABSTRAKStunting merupakan kondisi gagal tumbuh akibat kekurangan gizi dan infeksi sehingga anak terlalu pendek untuk seusianya. Stunting banyak ditemukan pada anak di bawah lima tahun. Namun, anak usia sekolah dasar memiliki risiko stunting yang lebih tinggi akibat lebih terpapar lingkungan yang tidak sehat sehingga rentan mengalami infeksi. Salah satu tindakan pencegahan yang dapat dilakukan ialah menanamkan kesadaran akan perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat (PHBS). Kegiatan edukasi PHBS ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan perilaku terkait PHBS dan 6 langkah cuci tangan dalam mencegah infeksi kepada siswa SDN 1 Singosari, Kecamatan Mojosongo, Kabupaten Boyolali. Materi edukasi disampaikan melalui dongeng interaktif dan dilanjutkan dengan praktik cuci tangan yang diikuti oleh seluruh siswa. Kegiatan ditutup dengan pemasangan poster di tiap kelas sebagai pengingat siswa akan pentingnya PHBS dan cuci tangan. Edukasi diikuti oleh 73 siswa SDN 1 Singosari. Setelah kegiatan selesai, dilakukan evaluasi secara lisan dan didapat hasil bahwa 90% siswa dapat memahami dan menjelaskan kembali pentingnya PHBS. Siswa juga dapat mempraktikkan 6 langkah cuci tangan sesuai panduan Badan Kesehatan Dunia atau World Health Organization (WHO). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan edukasi dengan dongeng dan praktik menimbulkan peningkatan pengetahuan tentang PHBS sebesar 90% dan perubahan perilaku mencuci tangan yang benar sehingga diharapkan dapat mencegah infeksi pada anak usia sekolah dasar. Kata kunci: anak sekolah dasar; cuci tangan; diare; infeksi; PHBS. ABSTRACTStunting is a condition where children are too short for their age due to chronic malnutrition and infection. Stunting is mostly found in children under five years old. However, primary school-age children are more exposed to unhealthy environment and more susceptible to infections, thus having a higher risk of stunting. One of the preventive measures that can be taken is to increase awareness of clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS). This PHBS educational activity aimed to improve knowledge and behaviour of PHBS and 6 steps of hand washing in preventing infections to students at public primary school (SDN) 1 Singosari, Mojosongo District, Boyolali Regency. Materials were delivered through interactive story telling, followed by joint hand washing practice. Educational posters were given to each class as a reminder for students about the importance of PHBS and hand washing. This activity was attended by 73 students of SDN 1 Singosari. With a verbal evaluation method by the end of the activity, it was shown that 90% of the students were able to understand and explain about the importance of PHBS. Students were also able to practice the 6 steps of hand washing in accordance with the World Health Organization (WHO) guideline. In summary, educational activity with story-telling method and joint practice resulted in 90% increased knowledge and behavior of PHBS and might prevent infections in primary school-aged children. Keywords: primary school children; hand washing; diarrhea; infection; clean and healthy living behaviour (PHBS).

Abstract

Introduction: It has been established that dietary habits are associated with nutritional status. However, few studies have evaluated dietary habits among young adults in college. College students represent a period of nutritional vulnerability due to dietary transition from home to college. This cross-sectional study evaluated the dietary habits, including breakfast habit, frequency of snacking, and frequency of meals, with the incidence of overweight and obesity among young adults. Method: Weight and height were measured using digital scale and microtoise, respectively. Body mass index (BMI) was then calculated and classified based on the Indonesian cut-off points. Dietary habits were collected through a questionnaire. Subjects were selected using simple random sampling. Chi-square test was performed using SPSS. Results: From the total 99 subjects aged 18-22 years old, 15.2% subjects were identified as overweight (BMI >25.0-27.0) and 17.2% as obese (BMI >27.0). Irregular breakfast habit <6x/week was associated with overweight and obesity among young adults (p=0.002), while frequency of snacking and meals were not associated with overweight and obesity (p>0.05). Conclusion: Overweight and obesity among young adults were associated with irregular breakfast habit, but not with frequency of snacking and meals. Our results suggested that young adults in college should regularly consume breakfast to avert the incidence of overweight and obesity.
