Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between minority Muslim families and those of non-Muslims in Banjarasri, Kalibawang, Kulon Progo Yogyakarta; and to find out the religious diversity motivation of the Muslim families. This study used descriptive qualitative method by applying a phenomenological approach. The data were garnered using observation and interview. This study revealed that the acculturation of arts, cultures, and social community made Muslim families and non-Muslim families live side by side. The religious motivation of Muslim minority for the sake of maintaining their faith rested upon both extrinsic and intrinsic motivations. Extrinsically, it could be seen from the strong influence of the mosque administrators, the power of various religious activities to enhance religious awareness, and the solid cohesiveness of the group to strengthen as well as protect religious motivation. Intrinsically, the religious motivation of Muslims in Banjarsari was basically the effect of self-awareness by reasons of their minor position, so that such motivation yielded strong inner capacity from each Muslim family to revive and get more deeply into Islam.

The influential factors of KKNI implementation ranged from the sufficient availability of library books, internet availability, the presence of professional lecturers, the establishment of international cooperative learning, to comfortable environments. However, the factor impeding the attainment of learning with KKNI was PAI students? motivation that was still low in digging information from literatures either online or offline.

Abstract

Conflicts are unavoidable in human life. Thus, for human beings, the attitude of forgiveness is of importance to be well-embedded and sustainably constructed. Resting upon the aforesaid premises, the present study conducted a library research to reveal how forgiveness is viewed from the perspectives of positive psychology and Islam. 102 scientific works reviewed, 58 works were finally selected to be scrutinized in depth. This study revealed that the discourses in the field of positive psychology imply that forgiveness attitude is of importance to be embedded in human beings and continuously constructed by virtue of its positive natural impacts on mental health, good relationships, physical health, and positive well-being. Furthermore, as informed by Islamic teachings, the attitude of forgiveness is also suggested to be well and continuously embedded. As the best Islamic role model for the end-time people, the Prophet Muhammad PBUH already exemplified that humans are indeed to always be forgiving and even to pray for others for the sake of good things that Allah SWT will bestow to. It is worth noting that both positive psychology and Islam encourage humans to be forgiving individuals.

Abstract

Although Singapore cannot be used as a model for global Islamic education, this country has quite several madrasahs. The Singapore government is also quite responsive in providing support for the continuation of Islamic education activities. This study aims to analyze the Islamic education system—madrasah management and curriculum in Singapore. Most importantly, this study identifies how the role of madrasahs in the Singapore education system is. The study in this paper is qualitative. This study uses library research, and the method of content analysis and constant comparative analysis becomes the first option of the writer. The results show that Singapore's Islamic Ugama Majlis (MUIS) plays a significant role in monitoring and managing the development of Islamic education in Singapore, which performs three types of Islamic education, Part-Time Education, Full Time Education, and Islamic Study Program for the Community. MUIS created a special curriculum by proposing the Singapore Islamic Education System (SIES) by introducing the ALIVE curriculum. The role and relevance of madrasahs cannot be underestimated or dismissed because the growing Muslim community and society will always need the right channels for real Islamic education regardless of how progressive or modern it is. This paper provides a broad view of madrasah in Singapore and looks at management, curriculum, and the role of madrasahs.

Abstract

Children are the mandate from Allah in that children have the rights to live and be loved by parents. Children’s growth and development are very dependent upon how parents educate and guide them. Children are like white paper given the potential by Allah, and such potential must be developed by parents in any condition and situation even though, for instance in a particular case, the parents must get divorce. Departing from this argument, this study aimed to find out a depiction of children's (17 children) education continuity after their parents got divorce in Babakan Baru Village, Bermani Ulu Raya District, Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu. This study used a qualitative approach with key informants referring to parents who got divorce, close family members, child victims of divorce, and community and religious leaders. In addition, the marriage registrars of KUA in Bernani Ulu Raya were involved as the secondary informants. The data were obtained from observations and interviews, and they were analyzed using the approach of Miles et al with the stages encompassing data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusion. This study found the conclusion that the continuity of children's education after parental divorce in Babakan Baru Village was not solely grounded in parental divorce, but it was more dominantly influenced by economic factors and parents' awareness of the importance of children’s education.

Abstract

Children with special needs are those who need education provided according to each individual’s need. They should receive proper education in the same way as other normal children to develop their potential without any discrimination against their backgrounds. Inclusive schools become one of the answers to meet these needs. Many things must certainly be prepared by educational institutions before implementing the inclusive-based school model amid the community because this will be capable of minimizing learning problems in the future. Grounded in this issue, the researcher sought to find out more deeply the problems of implementing an inclusive education at Elementary School of Taman Siswa in Rejang Lebong. This study applied a qualitative approach, and the data were garnered by means of observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were further analyzed using qualitative analysis stages. This study found the following conclusions. The problems faced by teachers in terms of inclusive-school learning are teachers’ competences, no specific tutor for students with special needs, parents' knowledge, students’ difficulties in receiving materials, the readiness of school management, lack of government’s attention and public awareness. The efforts made by the school to overcome these problems include: implementing learning by using fun methods and media, involving students with special needs in each learning activity, providing additional time for students with special needs, and trying to make use of learning facilities individually.
