Abstract

The increasing application of micro electro mechanical systems technology on daily life devices increases the need for micro components. Furthermore, it must be supported by reliable fabrication technology to produce micro-sized products. One of these technologies is micro-sheet metal forming, which is a forming technology from sheet metal with 10-300µm thickness. The development of this technology requires a special press machine that is used in the scope of micro-scale work, named micro-press. Micro-press is still rare due to it was used for individual experiment purposes. Thus, it is necessary to develop the micro-press to support research and manufacturing of micro-part. In this study, the design of a micro-press is intended to accommodate the miniaturization problems and to be easy in fabrication and re-fabrication. Then, the micro-press will contribute to fulfill the micro-parts need. By using the VDI 2222 design method, the design of a 5kN micro-press machine with a servo motor drive is obtained, and validation of construction strength was carried out with the help of the appropriate CAE software. The results of the design validation show that the construction of the micro-press machine is quite strong. The selected component has a strength specification that is greater than required, and the maximum stress that occurs in the frame, which is 80.096 N/mm2, is still very lower than the allowable stress on the SPHC material. The magnitude of the resultant displacement shows a fairly small value, i.e. 0.178 mm.

Abstract

A press tool is used to cut or form a thin plate into the desired shape with a pressing process or a press machine. One of the main things in the design of the press tool is the calculation for determining the type, size and, material of the spring. The spring in the press tool design is placed on the stripper as a pressure plate material before it is formed. The problem that often occurs in the design of the press tool is the initial force of the spring and the number of springs often have high values. This has an impact on the difficulty of the operator in installing the spring during assembly. The installation on the press machine requires more energy that exceeds the operator's power. This problem is often a challenge in itself both in terms of designing and manufacturing press tools. Assumptions and limitations of the problem of the design is 12,64 kN. This force is used for the educational practicum materials. Based on the design calculations the number of springs needed are 4 springs. While the hydraulic required is 10 tons. The results obtained based on simulation analysis using Solidworks software, show that with the number of springs and hydraulics calculated and based on the design form of the stripper installation tool, it is in the safe category.

Abstract

Kondisi yang dialami oleh masyarakat Desa Girimukti, Kabupaten Bandung Barat, adalah terbatasnya ketersediaan air bersih yang dekat dan mudah dijangkau oleh masyarakat. Sumber air bersih berada di atas bukit yang lokasinya cukup jauh. Fasilitas penampungan air yang ada saat ini, yaitu satu buah tangki dengan kapasitas 500 L, dirasa belum dapat memenuhi kebutuhan air bersih warga Desa Girimukti. Selain itu, kondisi air dari sumber mata air masih keruh sehingga belum siap pakai. Solusi yang dilakukan dalam program ini adalah penambahan saluran air dari mata air sampai penampungan, penambahan saringan air dari sumber mata air, serta penampungan air dengan kapasitas yang lebih besar di lokasi yang lebih terjangkau oleh warga. Metode yang dilakukan dalam program ini dimulai dengan survey kebutuhan masyarakat Girimukti, survey lokasi sumber air dan lokasi instalasi penampungan air, perencanaan dan desain purwarupa, instalasi purwarupa di lokasi, dan sosialisasi mengenai penggunaan dan perawatan fasilitas. Luaran dari program ini adalah saluran air yang mampu mengalirkan air dengan debit 0,1 liter per detik dan fasilitas penampungan air dengan kapasitas 5000 liter. Fasilitas penampungan air yang baru ini mampu memenuhi kebutuhan kurang lebih 60 KK penduduk Desa Girimukti yang terbagi dalam 3 RW. Masyarakat Desa Girimukti akan berperan serta dalam membangun saluran dari tempat penampungan air ke rumah-rumah warga.
