Abstract

Anemia in pregnant women can increase the risk of premature birth, maternal and child mortality, and infectious diseases. Iron deficiency anemia in the mother can affect the growth and development of the fetus/infant during and after pregnancy. Based on the results of the 2018 Riskesdas it was stated that in Indonesia 48.9% of pregnant women had anemia. (RI Ministry of Health, 2019). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of red guava juice on increasing hemoglobin levels in pregnant women at the Rosita Mandiri Midwife Practice Pekanbaru. The research method used in this research is Pre Experimental with one group pretest posttest design. The population in this study were all pregnant women who carried out examinations at the Mandiri Rosita Pekanbaru Midwife Practice as many as 60 people with a total sample of 15 respondents and sampling using the Nonprobability Sampling technique. The results of the univariate analysis showed that the pretest average was 9.56 gr/dl while the posttest average was 11.58 gr/dL. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that the P value of the study was 0.000, which means that there was an effect of red guava juice on increasing hemoglobin levels in pregnant women.
