Abstract

The problems of this research are focused on whether the character values are found in the English textbook or not and how they are reflected. This research analyzes all chapters in the English textbook entitled Pathway to English for SMA/MA Grade X, specifically the reading texts. The approach of this research is qualitative research. In collecting the data, two types of instruments are used which are the researcher herself and the data sheet. The result of this research showed that there are 18 character values reflected in this textbook covering all of them. Appreciation was represented 16 times in the reading texts, being the highest value of all. To reflect appreciation value in teaching and learning process, one of the ways that teachers can do to integrate it is they can motivate the students to produce something useful for themselves as well as society or give rewards to the students who do their jobs well. It can be concluded that this English textbook is ideal as a teaching material for developing character values of students because it contains all 18 character values that the 2013 Curriculum suggests should be included in the textbook. Knowing that the Ministry of Education and Culture requires English textbook for Senior High School to include at least eight values, this book shows that an ideal English textbook exists. Abstract

ABSTRAKSampah adalah material sisa yang sudah tidak dapat dipakai, tidak disenangi atau sesuatu yang harus dibuang. Pada tahun 2019, Kabupaten Tanah Bumbu menyumbang 140 ton sampah per hari. Berdasarkan hasil diagnosa komunitas, sebanyak 45KK di RT.04 Desa Wonorejo mengelola sampah dengan metode pembakaran. Upaya yang dilakukan untuk menanggulangi permasalahan tersebut adalah dengan program pemberdayaan masyarakat dalam pengelolaan pembakaran sampah. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk meminimalisir permasalahan pembakaran sampah. Metode yang digunakan adalah dengan ceramah, diskusi, dan demonstrasi. Instrumen kegiatan ini diantaranya adalah kuesioner pre dan post test. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa setelah dilaksanakannya kegiatan penyuluhan dan re-strukturasi kader, terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan warga dan didapatkan 10 Kader Peduli Lingkungan. Pada kegiatan pelatihan, Kader berhasil menghasilkan kerajinan yang terdapat di buku saku kader menggunakan sampah plastik rumah tangga. Selain itu, Kader beserta masyarakat RT.04 Desa Wonorejo juga berhasil membangun Tempat Pembuangan Sampah (TPS) berskala RT. Sesudah dilakukannya penyuluhan dan terbangunnya TPS, hanya 26,67% warga yang memanfaatkan TPS dan sebanyak 73,33% warga masih melakukan pembakaran sampah di rumah. Kata kunci: sampah; pembakaran sampah; pengolahan; pengetahuan ABSTRACTGarbage is leftover material that is no longer usable, unwanted or something that must be disposed of. In 2019, Tanah Bumbu Regency contributed 140 tons of waste per day. Based on the results of the community diagnosis, as many as 45 households in RT.04 Wonorejo Village manage waste using the burning method. Efforts made to overcome these problems are with community empowerment programs in the management of waste burning. The purpose of this activity is to minimize the problem of burning waste. The methods used are lectures, discussions, and demonstrations. The instruments for this activity include pre and post test questionnaires. The results of the service showed that after the counseling and cadre re-structuring activities were carried out, there was an increase in the knowledge of the residents and 10 Environmental Care Cadres were obtained. During the training activities, the cadres managed to produce crafts found in the cadres' pocket books using household plastic waste. In addition, Cadres and the community of RT.04 Wonorejo Village also succeeded in building a RT-scale Garbage Disposal Site (TPS). After counseling and the construction of TPS, only 26.67% of residents used TPS and 73.33% of residents still burned waste at home. Keywords: waste; garbage burning; management; knowledge
