Abstract

This study is significant since it aims to uncover two elements influencing school well-being: self-determination and patience.   This study used quantitative methods with multiple linear regression analysis. The population in this study was students of classes X, XI, and XII at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta, amounting to 672 students. The sampling technique employed in this study was cluster-random sampling with a sample of 178 students. The results showed the F-value of 27.182 with an absolute significance level (p-value) of 0.01, so it can be stated that the major hypothesis was accepted. The self-determination and patience variables simultaneously (together) could affect school well-being. The effect of self-determination on school well-being was 20%, while patience only contributed 3.67%. This research concludes that (1) there was a positive influence of self-determination and patience on the well-being of vocational school students, (2) there was a positive effect of partial self-determination on school well-being, meaning that partial self-determination could predict school well-being, and (3) there was no partial positive effect of patience on school well-being, indicating that partial patience could not predict school well-being.

Abstract

Abstract

After more than a century of research at the university, personality traits have been fully studied and measured, thanks to the work of many researchers. The Big Five is one of the most popular personality tests. It was created using an ethical approach, which says that personality traits should be measured in the same way in all cultures. But as the effects of different cultures grow and researchers learn more, ethical approaches to measuring personality are increasingly questioned. In anthropological research, emic approaches emphasizing the importance of specific cultural methods have been studied. This method is used to create the Big Six and Big Seven scales below. These measurements have been tested and found to be more accurate and valid for measuring personality traits in the right group of people. So, this study is intended to provide a literature review that summarizes how personality traits are defined, the specific content and development of such measurements using ethical and emic approaches, measurement problems based on relevant research, and several other things to think about. About when assessing personality traits using an etic and EMIC approach.

Abstract

Parents in Indonesia feel taboo in mentioning the name of the genitals and their functions scientifically. It is because parents were not aware in providing sexual education materials to their children. This study explores the practice of sexual education applied by Indonesian parents. The research was carried out in Semarang city's kindergarten to nine parents with early childhood children as subjects. The study used a phenomenological approach and qualitative research methods. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, and provided informed consent signed by the subject's parents to obtain information on how to teach children about gender differences, differences in genitalia and its function, and how to take care body, and so on. Triangulation of data sources was used to test this qualitative method’s credibility. Triangulation of data sources that researchers obtained from parents about knowledge and understanding of sexual education is as an effort to prevent sexual violence. The results showed that the application of sexual education by Indonesian parents was carried out through three contents, namely sexual education materials taught by parents, learning media for early childhood education, and barriers to the application of sexual education. However, this study has limitations because it didn’t involve father as subjects because of the work focus.

Abstract

Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are an efficient defense against network attacks as well as host attacks as they allow network/host administrators to detect any policy violations. However, traditional IDS are vulnerable and unreliable for new malicious and genuine attacks. In other case, it is also inefficient to analyze large amount of data such as possibility logs. Furthermore, for typical OS, there are a lot of false positives and false negatives. There are some techniques to increase the quality and result of IDS where data mining is one of technique that is important to mining the information that useful from a large amount of data which noisy and random. The purpose of this study is to combine three technique of data mining to reduce overhead and to improve efficiency in intrusion detection system (IDS). The combination of clustering (Hierarchical) and two categories (C5, CHAID) is proposed in this study. The designed IDS is evaluated against the KDD'99 standard Data set (Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining), which is used to evaluate the efficacy of intrusion detection systems. The suggested system can detect intrusions and categorize them into four categories: probe, DoS, U2R (User to Root), and R2L (Remote to Local). The good performance of IDS in case of accuracy and efficiency was the result of this study.
