Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of combination of CMC and arabic gum on the sensory quality of purple sweet potato velva. This research used a Completely Randomized Design experiment with five treatments and   three replications. The parameters were S1 (CMC andarabic gum = 1 : 0),                 S2 (CMC andarabic gum = 2 : 1), S3 (CMC andarabic gum = 1 : 1),                  S4 (CMC andarabic gum = 1 : 2), and S5 (CMC andarabic gum = 0 : 2).  The data obtained were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) test at 5% levels.  The research observed were sensory value on descriptive and hedonic test.  The result of analysis of variance showed that the combination of CMC and arabic gum has significantly value on descriptive and hedonic test such as texture, but did not significantly affectedsensory value descriptive and hedonic colour, flavour,and taste. The best treatment of purple sweet potato velva from this research wasS4 which had descriptive test assessment showed that the velva had purple color (4.26), purple sweet potato flavour (4.23), sweet taste (4.09), and soft texture (4.71).  Overall assessment of hedonic test on purple sweet potato velva was preferred by the panellists. Keywords: Arabic gum, CMC, purple sweet potato, and velva.

Abstract

Motivation plays a strategic role in individual activities. Every individual in their life has a motivation that drives them to achieve their desired goals. Losing motivation means losing direction and purpose in life. There are various methods that can be used to increase motivation, both through internal and external factors. One way to increase external motivation is by doing activities such as watching inspirational stories, reading motivational quotes, and so on. Issues of ethics or morality have consistently penetrated human life throughout the ages. Along with this journey of life, in each specific time period and location, individuals emerge who struggle to maintain moral values.

Abstract

The integration of game-based learning methods in language education has been explored to varying extents, yet there remains a significant gap in understanding how specific games like the Taboo Game can impact English vocabulary acquisition among junior high school students. This study aims to address this gap by examining students' perceptions of using Taboo to enhance their English vocabulary. Participants included 34 junior high school students from MTs Madrisatul Ikbar during the first semester of the 2023/2024 academic year, with a subset of 12 students selected for interviews. A purposive sampling technique was employed to identify participants. The study utilized a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, collecting data through observation sheets, questionnaires, and interviews. Findings indicate that the majority of students perceived the Taboo Game positively, noting improvements in vocabulary retention, increased engagement, and reduced anxiety in learning English. Despite some differing opinions, the overall consensus highlighted the game's effectiveness and enjoyment as a learning tool. This study underscores the potential of Taboo as an engaging and effective method for enhancing English vocabulary skills in a junior high school setting.

Abstract

The existence of a new economic wave in current economic activities is transforming the former economic order. The economic growth makes economic activities more productive as a result of people's easy participation in economic activities. Ideas, knowledge, information, and technology are factors that make it easier for people to use the new economic tide as a livelihoods. One of the perceived effects of the new economy is that of the culinary operations on street food in Tasikmalaya City. The new economic wave directly impacts their business behavior in determining appropriate strategies in sales. A method of study is a qualitative study with a descriptive approach. Data analysis techniques use data reduction, create descriptive and systematic summaries, and draw conclusions based on data obtained through various information sources, such as observation, interviews, and previous research reports. The results of this study prove that culinary behavior on the street food in tasikmalaya city impacts the existence of a new economic wave through the adjustment to sales strategies, such as products, price, location, quality of service, and promotion. It is marked by a variety of factors from the new economic wave that is felt and applied to the street food industry in Tasikmalaya.

Abstract

Karbohidrat, protein, lemak, dan mineral adalah kandungan utama rumput laut selain air. Kandungan utama ini dapat berbeda-beda dipengaruhi oleh kondisi lingkungan dan jenis rumput laut. Gracilaria sp, Sargassum sp, dan Ulva lactuca banyak tumbuh dan telah dimanfaatkan di pantai Sayang Heulang, Garut Selatan, Jawa Barat, Indonesia. Sayangnya, tidak ditemukan informasi kandungan utama rumput laut tersebut sebagai salah satu indikator kualitas rumput laut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan analisa proksimat terhadap ketiga rumput laut tersebut yang secara berurutan mewakili rumput laut coklat, rumput laut merah, dan rumput laut hijau. Analisa karbohidrat total dilakukan menggunakan metode Luff Schoorl dan didapatkan kadar 11,2 %(b/b); 25,3 % (b/b); dan 20,4 %(b/b) untuk berturut-turut Gracilaria sp, Sargassum sp, dan U. lactuca. Penentuan kadar protein total dilakukan menggunakan metode Kjeldahl-Nessler memberikan hasil 6,5 %(b/b) untuk Gracilaria sp, 7,8 %(b/b) untuk Sargassum sp, dan 8,7 %(b/b) untuk U. lactuca. Ekstraksi menggunakan Soxhlet digunakan untuk penentuan kandungan lemak dan didapatkan hasil 0,3 %(b/b) untuk Gracilaria sp, 1,6 %(b/b) untuk Sargassum sp, dan 1,1 %(b/b) untuk U. lactuca. Penelitian ini juga menunjukkanGracilaria sp, Sargassum sp, dan U. lactuca mengandung berturut-turut 26,9 %(b/b); 23,6 %(b/b); dan 32,5 %(b/b) mineral. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan jenis rumput laut memiliki kandungan bahan kimia yang berbeda.

Abstract

Learning is a process that students must go through every day to achieve the desired goals at school. To achieve this goal, students must be able to follow a series of teaching and learning processes provided by the teacher actively and communicatively. The problem in this research is that students' learning motivation is still low. There are still many students who still like to violate academic violations at school. The aim of this research is to analyze the implementation of contextual teaching and learning in motivating students. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The informants in this research were 10 people, namely the principal, deputy head of curriculum, economics teacher, and students who were adjusted to the criteria for research needs. Data collection methods use interviews, observation and documentation. The research results show that implementing contextual teaching and learning is able to have a positive impact on increasing students' learning motivation, making the learning process more enjoyable and easier to understand.
