Abstract

Kuda Lumping merupakan tarian tradisional jawa yang menampilkan sekelompok prajurit tengah menunggang kuda.  Kuda lumping populer dengan sebutan Jathilan di Yogyakarta. Di dalam motif kuda lumping terdapat makna  yang diciptakan melalui pandangan filosofi. Kajian Bahasa rupa tradisional Jawa dapat ditelusuri dari sisi historis, falsafah, dan karakteristik semiotiknya.Melihat fenomena yang terjadi pada kesenian kuda lumping tersebut penulis merumuskan permasalahan penelitian dalam tulisan ini: Bagaiamana makna tanda yang dibangun pada motif kuda lumping antara surealisme dan realisme dalam pertunjukan kesenian Jathilan di wilayah Provinsi Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta? Metode penelitian yang digunakan penulis  dalam penelitian ini ialah dengan cara mengambil analisis data diskriptif kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan dengan cara melakukan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi dengan mencari sumber observasi langsung sanggar kesenian Jathilan di wilayah Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, wawancara langsung ke narasumber dan dokumentasi melalui foto, video, dan rekaman. Hasil yang dicapai ialah kesimpulan tentang makna tanda pada kuda lumping di wilayah Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta.Hasil penelitian menunjukan dari sisi makna dan fungsi motif yang berkembang saat ini kuda lumping sangat berbeda dengan tradisional, seharusnya selalu relevan berdasarkan esensinya sesuai dengan karakteristik budaya jawa dan etika yang harus tetap di jaga.Kata Kunci : Makna, Motif, Kuda Lumping

Abstract

Developing batik motifs with the character of a region is one potential way to create new, contemporary motifs by tapping into the region's potential. Tambun and Bungai are taken from the names of two well-known and renowned heroes in the folk stories of the Dayak people in Central Kalimantan Province, Kalimantan Tengah. They are seen as having prominent cultural aspects that can represent Central Kalimantan and be transformed into a form of visual branding. There are many potentials in Central Kalimantan that can be developed into iconic motifs, such as from local customs, natural resources, and ecotourism. Therefore, there is a need to create a Tambun Bungai motif that is in line with the local wisdom and characteristics in an effort to promote Central Kalimantan through batik media. This article is part of an effort to establish the brand identity of Central Kalimantan through in-depth research on the local cultural identity, with the output being the creation of a decorative pattern called the Tambun Bungai batik motif.

Abstract

This research aims to create local batik motif. This research was focused on creating local Tambun Bungai batik motifs for the creative economic identity of Central Kalimantan Province in supporting SDGs in regional development. This research uses a design creation approach that is implemented on fabric using a digital batik printing process. The design creation research methods involves the following steps. (1) identification (2) research (3) idea formulation (4) prototype (5) selection (6) implementation (7) evaluation. The results yield are typical Tambun Bungai batik which has its own uniqueness, inspired by the richness of the natural landscape, traditional art and has bold color patterns that convey a strong impression of the philosophical values ​​inherent in Central Kalimantan batik motifs as well as being an effective regional promotional media.
