Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of giving marigold powder on commercial feed on the brightness of the color of guppies. This research was conducted for 50 days, with an experimental method using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 3 replications, namely: P1 (control), P2 (0.5% marigold flower flour), P3 (marigold flower flour 1%), dan P4 (marigold powder 1.5%). The research began with the manufacture of marigold flower flour, mixed it with pelleted feed according to the treatment. The feed was further biologically tested on cultured guppies. Parameters measured were absolute weight, absolute length, specific growth rate, feed conversion ratio, survival, carotenoid content, and color brightness. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and continued with Duncan's test. The results showed that the addition of marigold powder to commercial feed increased the brightness of the color of guppies and affected survival (SR) (P<0.05), but had no effect on growth and feed conversion ratio (FCR) (P>0.05). The addition of marigold powder to commercial feed of 1.5% (P4) can increase guppy carotenoids by 13.80 µmol/g, supported by a value of redness (a*) of 31.37, yellowness (b*) of 37.68, lightness (L*) of 28.25, hue of 58.15, and a survival rate of 93%±0.06.
