Abstract

This study was born from an anxiety researcher to observe the phenomenon of learning that takes place in the classroom. Most teachers are less variable in applying the teaching method or strategy. By him that researchers believe that the strategy of synergetic teaching is a viable alternative to be applied in the classroom. This research is a classroom action research (Classroom Action Research). The purpose of this study was to assess the success of a learning strategy or what is known in this research is synergetic teaching strategies in reading course. Besides this research also focus on the implementation of teaching strategies in the classroom especially synergetic pda reading half of the three subjects. After doing some research, the researchers found, there was a significant increase to the skill of reading (reading) students after applying synergetic teaching strategy. Furthermore, the application of synergetic teaching strategies in reading subjects also received a positive response from the students (contributor). It is characterized by three indicators, namely liveliness asked, enthusiastic attitude of students, and analysis of the results of student readings. All three of these indicators also improved quite well after applying the strategy of synergetic teaching. By it, the researchers concluded that the strategy of synergetic recommended teaching ought to be applied in the classroom, especially those not on course reading, but also other subjects.

Abstract

The problem is what are the students’ needs and the other stakeholders’ expectations of the speaking course syllabus implemented in Department of English education at STAIN Parepare? The writer conducted needs analysis procedures to identify the linguistic needs and the learning needs of the students of English education study program. The data of the needs were collected by giving questionnaires to the respondents of this study i.e. the students, the lecturers, as well as the graduates. In order to obtain in-depth information on the needs and to cross check the data gathered from the questionnaires, interview was also used. The two types of instruments provide the perceptions and expectations of the students, the lecturers, and the graduates about the needs that should be available in the design of speaking course one syllabus. The perceptions of the students, the lecturers, and the graduates on needs analysis include the general perception of providing speaking subject in the English education study program, the perception associated with the linguistic needs in speaking course one syllabus, the perception according to the learning needs in speaking course one syllabus, and the overview of the design of speaking course one syllabus.

Abstract

This research examined about the students? need on the textbook and whether it is fulfilled their needs. The purpose was to find out the textbook acceptablity by analyzing the students? needs on their textbook according to the students opinion on it. This research used triangulation method such as interview, questionnaire, and observation. The primary data was taken from the interview, while the questionnaire and observation used as supporter or secondary data. The reseacher used wants analysis to find the students? need. The questions of the interview and questionnaire were designed and developed according to the evaluation domains. As the findings showed that the textbooks that are used in several senior high school in Parepare can be considered acceptable.

Abstract

This research aims to see the students? speaking skill before and after learning process by using expression card media at the second grade of SMA Negeri 1 Parepare. The results of the research are useful for the teacher and students. The teacher should aware that it is important to supplied the technique or strategy before teaching and the students also can be easier to express their ideas, make the students more active in learning process. The subject of this research is XI IIS4 class which is consisted of 30 students. The sample was taken by using simple random sampling. The design in this research was pre-experimental with pre-test and post-test design. The student did the pre-test, got the treatment and did the post-test. Then the criteria of speaking skills are fluency, accuracy, content, pronunciation and they were usedto measure the students? speaking skill. It aimed to know whether using expression card media can improve the students? speaking skill. The result in this research was indicated that there was improvement of the students? speaking skill. It was indicated by the students? mean score of post-test (73.3) was greater than pre-test (41.9). Even, for the level significant (p) 5% and (df) = N-1=30-1=29, and the value of table is 1.699, while the value of t-test is 16.18. it means that, the t-test value is greater than t-table (16.18 ? 1.699). Thus, it can be concluded that the students? speaking skill is significant better after getting the treatment. So, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is fail rejected.
