Abstract

Samanhudi, Purwanto E, Sulandjari, Setiyaningsih A. 2017. Microclimate modification through shading and watering frequency treatments as efforts for ex situ conservation of pule pandak (Rauvolfia serpentina). Asian J Agric 1: 35-39. Pule pandak (Rauvolfia serpentina Benth) is one of the rare medicinal plants. Exploration of nature continues to be done to meet the needs of the drug. That is why proper cultivation technique for pule pandak is required, by giving appropriate shading level and watering frequency to the growth and yield of pule pandak. The research aimed to examine the effect of shading and watering frequency on the growth and yield of pule pandak. The study was conducted from February to July 2009 in BBP Mondromino, Pokoh Village, Wonogiri at 141 meters above sea level. The experimental Design used in this research was a Split Plot Design consisted two factors and three repetitions. The first factor (main plot) was shading level consisted of three levels: 55%, 65%, and 75%. The second factor (sub plot) was watering frequency consisted of three levels: once three days, once five days and once seven days. Data were subjected to analysis of variance, followed by post hoc test of Duncan Multiple Range Test at 5% level. The reserpine content was analyzed descriptively. The results showed that no interaction between shading level and watering frequency on all variables. The shading level caused no significant effect on growth and yield of pule pandak except the leaf area. Watering frequency caused no significant effect on growth and yield of pule pandak except the chlorophyll content. The results showed that plants treated with watering frequency of five-day interval produced the highest chlorophyll content. Plants treated with shading level of 65% and watering frequency once five days produced the highest reserpine content.

Abstract

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effect of soaking period of arenga  fibers and the addition of coconut endosperm to growth and yield of tomatoe. The observations were analyzed by using the 5% F test and if significant continued by the 5% DMRT. The experiment was conducted using a completely randomized factorial design with two factors, factors substrate consists of 5 levels, fiber arenga  without soaking (S0), fiber soaking for 1 month (S1),  fiber soaking for 2 months (S2), fiber soaking for 3 months(S3),  and substrate husk as control. The second factor is a nutrient with two levels ie. AB mix nutrient (N1), AB mix nutrient plus 50% coconut endosperm (N2). The results showed that treatment of arenga fiber substrate by immersion of one month, 2 month, and 3 month not significantly influenced on all growth variable and  yield of tomato. Treatment spraying coconut endosperm with a concentration of 50% could be low variable root length, root volume and fresh weight of the plant. There was no interaction between the two factors of all the observed variables.

Abstract

Besakih is one of the biggest Hindu temple in Bali and the temple of Sukuh and Cetho are the Hindu temple that still existing in Central Java. These temples have their similarity and differences in the context of how to develop the sustainable tourist development in Indonesia. However, there are not many experts who understand about the cultural relation between the temple of Besakih in Bali, Sukuh and Cetho in Central Java. This becomes important since the indigenization process that took place in the past of history in the two islands are significant to be understood in terms of social cultural, economic and political development in which their influences can be seen at the modern and postmodern Balinese culture. The development of Balinese temple of Besakih can be considered in the 11th century, while for Sukuh and Cetho temple after the fall of Majapahit kingdom in the 15th century. Therefore, it can be said that Hindu did not only develop in Bali, but also in Central Java, in which the development of Hindu for the beginning already took place indeed in the 7th to 8th in the context of Hindu Mataram namely in the era of king Sanjaya. The main questions that are need to be addressed in this paper are how was the process of the end of Majapahit culture that caused the cultural indigenization in the central Java such as shown in the temple of Sukuh and Cetho? Secondly, in which cultural context that occurred since the Javanese kingdoms did not influence the strength of the Hindu culture in the later period? Thirdly, how can it be compared the similarity and the difference between the indigenization in Bali and in Central Java?and lastly how the Balinese and the Javanese interprete their own culture in terms of local wisdom? By addressing these questions, it is expected to have a better understanding on how both communities can strengthen their own culture in the context of their prosperity.
