Abstract

Utilization of communication and information technology has been widely used in the health sector, especially nursing. As one of the nursing interventions for thalassemia patients and caregivers, genetic counseling is not only done face to face but can use android-based telenursing facilities through the complete features available in the Cyber Gen application. This study aims to measure the usability level of Cyber Gen application as an indirect genetic counseling medium for thalassemia patients. This application was developed with four main services: basic information about diseases, consultation rooms, social support, and direct surveys. This application is built using the Flutter Framework, the Dart programming language, and Cloud Firestore as the database. Usability was measured by using the System Usability Scale in two groups of 30 respondents each with an incidental sampling technique. The usability score shows 81.75 for personal users and 82.25 for counselor users with a 100% readiness level for use. These results indicate that the Cyber Gen application can be used to deliver genetic counseling intervention to thalassemia patients and caregivers.

Abstract

Background & Objective  Patients with thalassaemia major with severe anaemia must receive blood transfusions for life. Giving continuous blood transfusions can cause iron accumulation in body tissues so that it can conclude complications, one of which is rheumatoid arthritis due to iron deposition in synovial tissue. This study is to determine the results of rheumatoid factor examination in thalassaemia patients with blood transfusion therapy. Method the research used is descriptive. The sampling technique uses incidental with a large number of samples as many as 66. Result Based on the results of the study obtained positive results as many as 11 (17%) people with an average Rheumatoid Factor level of 29 IU/mL, and negative results as many as 55 (83%) people. Conclusion Thalassaemia patients with blood transfusion therapy show the risk of rheumatoid arthritis with positive results of rheumatoid factor examination.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Hepatitis B can also be called a liver infection caused by the Hepatitis B Virus (VHB). Health workers are at high risk of being infected with the Hepatitis B Virus, this is due to a lack of knowledge and skills such as the use of Personal Protective Equipment and not implementing health protocols which can cause exposure to the Hepatitis B Virus. This study aims to determine the description of the results of the Hepatitis B surface Antigen examination in Health Analyst Study Program Students of STIKes Muhammadiyah Ciamis.  Method: This study is a descriptive study with a purposive sampling technique conducted in May 2023. Respondents in this study were students of STIKes Muhammadiyah Ciamis as many as 38 respondents with measurements using the Sandwich method ELISA which then the results were processed manually and displayed in tabular format for narration. Result: The results of the Hepatitis B Surface Antigen examination showed that all respondents were 100% negative for Hepatitis B. Conclusion: The research that has been carried out, shows that all respondents, namely students of the Health Analyst Study Program at STIKes Muhammadiyah Ciamis, are not exposed to the Hepatitis B virus.

Abstract

Helminthiasis is still a problem in Indonesia, and worm infections often occur without symptoms, so the disease receives less attention. Identification can be done by several methods, one of which is by direct examination using 2% eosin dye. However, 2% eosin dye is included in synthetic dyes that can harm ul to health. The alternative used is to utilize natural ingredients. Red dragon fruit Hylocereus lemairei is a natural material that contains anthocyanin substances where in an acidic atmosphere anthocyanin substances provide a red colour so that it can be used as an alternative dye to replace eosin. The aim of this study was to determine the microscopic picture of worm egg preparations using alternative dyes of red dragon fruit peel extract. The research method used is an experimental method. The results showed that the red dragon fruit peel extract dye with a concentration variation of 2%, 5%, and 10% did not colour the worm eggs. So the red dragon fruit peel extract dye is still not optimal for use as an alternative dye for coloring worm eggs.
