Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the factors that affect the volume of Indonesian exports of white shrimp (Penaeus indicus) to Hongkong and to formulate policies that can increase the volume of exports. Ordinary Least Square method (OLS) is used to analyze the factors that affect the volume of Indonesian white shrimp exports to Hongkong by time series data (time series) period of the last 24 years (1990 until 2013). All independent variables that have significant influence on the volume of Indonesian exports of white shrimp, which are: Hongkong population, Hongkong GDP per capita constant 2005, the nominal selling price of white shrimp Indonesia to Hongkong, the nominal selling price of white shrimp competitor to Hongkong, the nominal exchange rate of the Indonesian to Hongkong and Indonesian economic crisis in 1998 (dummy). Key words: Hongkong, Ordinary Least Square (OLS), the export volume, the white shrimp (Penaeus indicus)

Abstract

As one of the largest CPO exporting countries in the world, Indonesia has a CPO production that continues to increase every year. Through this study, an analysis of the factors affecting Indonesia's CPO competition in the international market in recent years was carried out. The growth of export volume has a positive and significant influence on the competitiveness of Indonesia’s CPO in the international market, while the selling price and inflation in the main export destination countries show a negative and significant influence on the competitiveness of Indonesia's CPO. Policy that can be taken to continue to be able to improve the competitiveness of Indonesia’s CPO by developing technology so that the quality and efficiency of Indonesia’s CPO production will increase. Increasing production efficiency accompanied by improving CPO quality has the opportunity to reduce Indonesia CPO price, thereby increasing export volumes and increasing the competitiveness of CPO itself. If the competitiveness of Indonesia CPO continues to increase, the world market tends to increase the demand for CPO imports from Indonesia, so that in the long run it has implications for the positiveness of Indonesia trade balance and increased growth Indonesia’s economy. Keywords: CPO, Data Panel, International Market, RCA

Abstract

This research model looks at the long-term relationship between exchange rates, interest rates, and inflation using Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) co-integration analysis based on database 2018. This study aims to ensure stability in the exchange regime through the structurally nexus of interest rates and inflation volatility and its targets. The data used is historical data on the country of China from 1987-2017. The results of the estimates show that inflation and interest rates in the previous period had a significant effect on the movement of the Chinese exchange rate, while the movement of the exchange rate of the previous period did not affect the movement of the exchange rate of the next period. Although there is a long-term cointegration between the independent variables, namely interest rates and inflation (CPI) against the dependent variables i.e. exchange rates, the long-term relationship between independent variables does not significantly affect the dependent variables.

Abstract

As the largest CPO exporter country in the world, Indonesia's CPO production is increasing every year. Even though Indonesia's CPO production has increased, Indonesia's CPO has a slow growth rate, low productivity and the competitiveness of Indonesian CPO to destination countries has not increased. The purpose of this research is to analyze the factors that influence the competitiveness of Indonesian CPO and formulate policies that can increase the competitiveness of Indonesian CPO. Quantitative analysis uses Stata 14 along with panel data with the 2018 database. Export volume growth, selling prices, inflation and population growth in importing countries have a negative effect on the competitiveness of CPO export commodities while GDP growth in importing countries and exchange rates have a positive relationship to competitiveness CPO export commodity.

Abstract

Bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Taiwan has better growth every year, while import tariffs imposed by Taiwan on Indonesia export commodities are still relatively high. This study aims to identify and analyze commodities included in the request-offer scheme between Indonesia and Taiwan based on 2019 database. Identification and analysis of annual growth value, equivalent ad valorem tariff, average export value, export share, average Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) index, and RCA trend are carried out through inferential analysis. Inferential analysis is needed to determine the commodities contained in the request-offer scheme of Indonesia and Taiwan that have good performance but are still subject to high import tariffs by their partner countries. Indonesia's export commodities to Taiwan which have a good performance while the import tariffs are still high are given by Taiwan to Indonesia as Indonesia's request scheme to Taiwan, namely: processed food (ofd); tobacco (b_t); vegetables, fruits, and nuts (v_f); and fishery commodities (fsh). Taiwan export commodities to Indonesia that have good performance but are still subject to high import tariffs by Indonesia are Indonesia's offer scheme to Taiwan, namely: manufacturing (lum); cosmetics (crp); miscellaneous edible preparations (ofd); and textiles (tex). Indonesia and Taiwan can increase bilateral cooperation in the field of international trade through barriers lowering schemes and transferring science and technology from each country.
