Abstract

Nutritional intake is essential for human survival, health, and cognitive development at every stage of life. South Asia is home to adolescents who are significantly affected by stunting, waste, and overweight, with respective rates of 13.0%, 10.8%, and 10.8%. This service activity is intended to compile a nutritional status map of the students attending SDN Ciherang 01. The design of this activity was conducted utilizing the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) methodology. 125 students participated in this activity, during which anthropometric assessments were conducted to determine the nutritional status of the students: body weight, height, and body mass index were measured. As per the findings of this service, 9.6% of students exhibited overweight status, 12.8% demonstrated obesity, and 18.4% reported being underweight. Immediate action is required to avert the adverse effects that identified nutritional issues may have on the growth and development of students.

Abstract

Insulin and glucagon, hormones secreted by the pancreas, regulate blood glucose, the main source of energy for cells. Insulin facilitates glucose uptake and glycogen synthesis, whereas glucagon increases blood glucose by stimulating glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis in the fasting state. An increase in blood glucose above normal over a long period of time can cause diabetes mellitus. The prevalence of type 2 diabetes among the elderly in Indonesia is 6.2%, with a projected increase to 12 million cases by 2030. The causes include genetic factors, aging, unhealthy eating patterns, a lack of movement, and comorbidities such as obesity and hypertension. This activity uses the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Action) method, which aims to carry out blood glucose checks as an early detection of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The Hana Nursing Home in South Tangerang hosted this activity, which involved 61 participants. The results of the blood glucose examination showed that 15 people (24.58%) had diabetes and 33 people (54.1%) had pre-diabetes. Early detection and effective management are essential to prevent complications and maintain functional status.

Abstract

Hypertension is an increasing global health problem. By 2025, it is estimated that 1.5 billion people will suffer from hypertension, with 10.44 million deaths annually caused by hypertension and its complications. Most cases are idiopathic, related to genetic factors, diet and lifestyle. Uncontrolled hypertension significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, kidney failure, and stroke. This activity uses the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) method for blood pressure screening and counseling in adults at PT. Narindo, North Jakarta. The results of blood pressure examination showed that 4 people (3.08%) had grade 3 hypertension, 7 people (5.38%) had grade 2 hypertension, 20 people (15.38%) had grade 1 hypertension. Monitor blood pressure regularly and increasing public health knowledge can increase awareness and encourage healthy lifestyle changes, reducing the prevalence and complications of hypertension.
