Abstract

This research aims to reduce the prevalence of stunting in Darsono Village by addressing environmental factors and ensuring proper nutrition for toddlers. Through Collaborative Community Service (KKN)163 Team program, education on nutrition fulfillment and a demonstration of innovative food were conducted. The research methodology encompassed planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Three selected families were monitored for 33 days, involving measurements of weight and height, along with nutritional interventions. The results indicated an improvement in the nutritional status of the three toddlers. This program successfully increased the awareness of mothers regarding the significance of nutrition fulfillment and healthy food innovation. The outcomes of the visits and interventions displayed an enhancement in the weight and height of the toddlers, showcasing the success of the program. The research underscores the importance of education and interventions in addressing stunting. The recommendation is to continue similar programs, involve more stakeholders, and expand the coverage to other areas to tackle the issue of stunting on a broader scale. Hence, such initiatives can contribute to combating stunting and enhancing the well-being of future generations

Abstract

Anemia is a decrease in the capacity of the blood to carry oxygen due to a less than normal number of red blood cells or a decrease in hemoglobin concentration which can be caused by a decrease in the production of red blood cells or a lot of blood loss. Anemia in Indonesia is generally caused by iron deficiency, so it is more often called iron deficiency anemia. Anemia is a condition in which a person has a hemoglobin (Hb) level of <13g/dL for males or <12g/dL for females. This disease is the highest cause of disability in the world. The aim of this activity is to prevent anemia through giving soy milk and dates to anemic young women at Baitul Hikmah Tempurejo Vocational School, Jember. The method of delivering health education is carried out by means of a question and answer discussion to all respondents. The results of community service activities have provided education to young women through lectures, checking Hb levels, discussing the importance of preventing anemia. The responses generated by the respondents were enthusiastic enough to be understood by teenagers. This is evidenced by the questions and answers from the respondents. A screening test for hemoglobin (Hb) levels was carried out. From the results of the examination, not all adolescents with normal Hb levels, some were in the anemia category, the hemoglobin level was checked using an electric detection device. Treatment has been given by giving date soy milk to adolescents with anemia, then re-evaluation was carried out and the results showed an increase in Hb levels.

Abstract

Anemia is a public health problem in Indonesia that can be experienced by all age groups, from toddlers to the elderly. One of them is young women, where these young women are prone to anemia due to a lot of blood loss during menstruation, young women who are entering puberty experience rapid growth so that the need for iron also increases and there is an incorrect diet pattern in rhymes. Adolescent girls who suffer from anemia are also at risk of developing anemia during pregnancy. This will have a negative impact on the growth and development of the fetus in the womb and has the potential to cause complications during pregnancy and childbirth. The purpose of this activity is to screen for iron deficiency anemia in young women as a preventive measure for anemia in adolescents which can cause long-term adverse effects on adolescents.Screening for iron deficiency anemia in this activity was carried out through laboratory examination of panel iron levels, especially TIBC and Serum Iron examinations in young girls. The target for this activity is young women at Baitul Hikmah Tempurejo Vocational School. Screening begins with anamnesis and physical examination. If there are indications that lead to anemia, an iron panel examination (TIBC and serum iron) will be performed. The results obtained will be analyzed and consulted with the local regional health officer to get the right treatment

Abstract

Anaemia often occurs in teenagers and young women due to nutritional problems. Iron, which is found in food nutrients, plays a significant role in the formation of haemoglobin. Soybeans and dates are some of the foods that contain high iron to elevate haemoglobin levels in the blood. Soybeans dan dates Juice is a drink that circulating and become popular in Indonesia. This study used the Pre-Experimental research type with a Group Pre-Post Test Design approach. Accidental sampling was used to select 18 respondents. The Paired T-test was used for data analysis. Before the participants were given date soybean juice, the average haemoglobin level in 18 respondents was 13.81 gr%. After drinking date soybean juice for six days, the haemoglobin level increased to 15.45 gr%. The difference in average before and after giving date soybean juice was 1.46 gr%. The results of the statistical tests with the Paired T-Test show a p-value of 0.001 < α = 0.05. This test concludes that Ha is accepted, which shows that giving date soybean juice has a positive effect on increasing haemoglobin levels in young women at Baitul Hikmah Tempurejo Vocational School. Therefore, young women should consider consuming date soybean juice to prevent anaemia.

Data collection was by examining nutritional status and iron panel examination results. The sampling method was accidental, involving 21 female students. The research was conducted in March 2023. Data analysis used frequency distribution. Result. The results showed that some students were undernourished (42.9%) and severely malnourished (4.8%); 18 students (85.7%) were classified as KEK. Meanwhile, from the iron panel analysis, 10 students (47.6%) had abnormal serum iron levels, 6 students (28.6%) had abnormal transferrin saturation levels, and the majority of the respondents, 20 students (95.2%), had normal TIBC. Conclusion. The conclusion from this study is that there are still many adolescent girls, especially in the school environment, who are undernourished to severely malnourished. This result correlates with the iron panel analysis which found that some adolescent girls were diagnosed with iron-deficiency anemia, characterized by a decrease in serum iron, transferrin, and iron reserves levels, accompanied by an increase in the TIBC.
