Abstract

Secang wood is one of the plants that contains many antioxidants, secondary metabolites and antibacterial compounds. This study aims to determine characterization of simplicia and chemical substances of Secang wood extract. Secang wood which was already in the form of simplicia was extracted by maceration using 96% ethanol solvent and the extract was concentrated with a rotary evaporator at a temperature of 40°C, then screening and characterization tests were carried out. The results of this study showed that phytochemical screening of the ethanol extract of sappan wood (Caesaloinia sappan L) showed the presence of flavonoid, tannin, saponin, alkaloid, steroid, and phenolic compounds. Characterization of simplicia obtained results at water content (3.95%) water soluble extract (11.01%), ethanol soluble extract (17.22%), total ash content (1.81%) and non-soluble ash content. acid soluble (0.28%).

Abstract

Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara yang berlokasi di wilayah yang rawan terhadap berbagai kejadian bencana alam. Banjir merupakan bencana yang setiap tahun terjadi di Indonesia dan berbagai kejadian banjir terbukti berdampak pada kehidupan manusia dan lingkunganya terutama dampaknya terhadap kesehatan masyarakat yang terkena banjir. Penyakit yang dialami biasanya berupa diare, demam, dan gatal-gatal pada kulit yang disebabkan oleh bakteri, virus maupun patogen lainnya. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan sosialisasi tentang bahaya banjir dan pengenalan tentang antibiotik kepada masyarakat, sehingga penyakit dampak banjir khususnya diare dapat teratasi dengan baik, kegiatan ini dilakukan oleh tim Dosen Universitas Sari Mutiara dengan melakukan edukasi mengenai Dapatkan Gunakan Simpan dan Buang (DAGUSIBU) Antibiotik. Metode kegiatan ini melibatkan masayarakat di Kecamatan Tamiang Hulu, Kabupaten Aceh Tamiang adalah ceramah, pembagian leaflet, dan tanya jawab. Ceramah yang disajikan dalam bentuk presentasi power point, pembagian leaflet dalam bentuk brosur dilanjutkan dengan sesi diskusi atau tanya jawab tentang DAGUSIBU Antibiotik. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah di Kecamatan Tamiang Hulu, Kabupaten Aceh Tamiang mendapatkan edukasi terkait Sosialisasi Bahaya Banjir dan DAGUSIBU (dapatkan, gunakan, simpan, dan buang) antibiotik.

Abstract

Clove leaves have the property of overcoming hair growth problems, where the eugenol compound contained in clove leaves is efficacious as a hair growth agent. This research was conducted to formulate a clove leaf extract shampoo preparation. The research method used was the experimental method. Tests were carried out on experimental animals, namely male white mice in various groups. The first group (without treatment), the second group (negative control), the third group (5% clove leaf extract shampoo), the fourth group (10% clove leaf ethanol extract shampoo), the fifth group (15% clove leaf ethanol extract shampoo) and groups sixth (positive control). The shampoo preparations were tested and evaluated, the results of the preparation evaluation test showed that the four shampoo preparations were homogeneous and had a pH ranging from 5.1-5.7, with a viscosity of 1700-3000 cps and a foam height of 9-11 cm. This shampoo preparation also does not irritate the skin. The results of the data analysis obtained showed that all data were normally distributed (p> 0.005) and homogeneous (p> 0.005). The results of the one way ANOVA test show that F1 (5% formula), F2 (10% formula) and F3 (15% formula) have significant differences. This research shows that clove leaf ethanol extract shampoo with a concentration of 15% is the most effective formulation in hair growth in male white rats. However, the ethanol extract of clove leaves shampoo is less effective than minoxidil 5% for hair growth.
