Abstract

STEM, the acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, is several groups of knowledge that are modified in one lesson. Nowadays, STEM learning has a special place in the hearts of every educator as an effort to improve 21st century skills. STEM learning can be combined with the provision of a makerspace. This article discussed the provision of STEM-based makerspaces in the world of education as learning curriculum innovations that can be implemented. This qualitative research applied a case study approach. The research sample consisted of 10 people in early childhood with an age range of 5-6 years. Interviews, observation, and documentation were methods used to make it easier to collect research data, while data analysis techniques were carried out by means of data triangulation starting from the stages of data collection, data reduction and data presentation. Based on the results of the research, information has been obtained that the application of STEM-based makerspaces in the world of education, especially at the preschool level, can stimulate children's development optimally. This is based on children's direct experience when carrying out activities that are more meaningful than just talking. Apart from that, the application of STEM-based makerspaces in the world of education is also believed to be able to increase children's interest and learning outcomes so that in the future, the application of STEM-based makerspaces should be increased further, especially in the 21st century

Abstract

Abstrak: Project-based learning merupakan suatu bentuk kegiatan yang berfokus kepada siswa sebagai pembelajar aktif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membahas project-based learning dalam dunia pendidikan dengan mengambil data dari Scopus dan mengolah metadata menggunakan aplikasi bibliometric selama rentang 3 tahun terakhir, yakni 2021-2023. Pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini dengan 4 langkah, yaitu: 1) sumber data didapat dari jurnal yang terindeks Scopus; 2) metadata jurnal yang didapatkan kemudian diunduh dalam format CSV; 3) memeriksa hasil artikel dan mengambil sesuai dengan pertanyaan penelitian; 4) mengolah data yang didapatkan menggunakan aplikasi bibliometric. Hasil penemuan terhadap artikel sebelumnya diketahui bahwa publikasi artikel tentang project-based learning merupakan pembelajaran yang banyak mendapat perhatian dan minat di bidang pendidikan, mulai tingkat pendidikan dasar hingga pendidikan tinggi, khususnya pada rentang tahun 2021-2023. Penelitian ini berguna untuk memahami status penelitian terbaru saat ini, khususnya di bidang pendidikan anak usia dini agar bisa menentukan arah penelitian yang dilakukan ke depannya. Abstract: Project-based learning is a form of activity that focuses on students as active learners. This study aimed to discuss project-based learning in the world of education by taking data from Scopus and processing metadata using a bibliometric application for the last three years, namely from 2021-2023. The four steps to collect data of the study are: 1) data sources were obtained from Scopus-indexed journals; 2) the obtained journal metadata was then downloaded in CSV format; 3) the researchers examined the results of the articles and took them according to the research questions; 4) the researchers processed the data using the bibliometric application. The results of the findings on previous articles show that the publication of articles on project-based learning is learning that has received considerable attention and interest in education, both at the higher education level and at the initial foundation education, particularly in 2021-2023. This research is beneficial for understanding the status of the latest research, especially in early childhood education, to determine the direction of future research.

Abstract

This study will discuss the similarities between cultural values in early childhood learning in Indonesia and New Zealand which are outlined in the curricula of both countries. The countries primarily care for children's education which clearly highlights every aspect of their development, in that the cultural values have been explicitly incorporated into the curriculum. This study is library research because it explores written resources of documents and the curriculum. The result of the study indicated that both countries believe that values of the local culture are important to instill in children through curriculum. The Indonesian curriculum, which has committed to innovation now and then, strongly emphasizes the cultural values of Pancasila in every aspect of children's education. Meanwhile, New Zealand introduced “Te Whariki” values to children in the learning process in class. Abstrak Penelitian ini akan membahas kesamaan antara nilai-nilai budaya dalam pembelajaran anak usia dini (PAUD) di Indonesia dan Selandia Baru yang dituangkan dalam kurikulum kedua negara. Kedua negara ini sangat peduli terhadap pendidikan anak-anak yang dengan jelas menyoroti setiap aspek perkembangan mereka karena nilai-nilai budaya kedua negara ini telah secara eksplisit dimasukkan dalam kurikulum. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kepustakaan karena mengeksplorasi sumber tertulis dokumen, kurikulum. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kedua negara percaya bahwa nilai-nilai budaya lokal penting untuk ditanamkan pada anak-anak melalui kurikulum. Kurikulum Indonesia yang saat ini berkomitmen terhadap inovasi yang sangat menekankan nilai-nilai budaya Pancasila dalam setiap aspek pendidikan anak. Sementara itu, Selandia Baru memperkenalkan nilai-nilai "Te Whariki" kepada anak-anak dalam proses pembelajaran di kelas.

Abstract

It is undeniable that increasingly sophisticated and rapid technological developments have penetrated the world of education. Teachers, as educators, are required to be able to operate various kinds of learning media. As time progresses, learning media has also changed from conventional to digital. In the context of the 21st century, digital learning media have been in the spotlight since the pandemic began; one of them is the Quizizz application. Various levels of education, from elementary to tertiary, make this digital medium an alternative medium to be used in learning. This study discusses the existence of the Quizizz application as the most widely used digital learning medium today. The research method used is qualitative, with a phenomenological approach. The research sample participants were field study students at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta during the period of September–November 2023. Data collection techniques included interviews and documentation. The result of the research shows that the majority of educators tend to choose the Quizizz application as a learning tool in delivering the resultant material, and they can provide feedback for reference material to see the extent of students' responses to the material that has been presented. Abstrak Tidak dapat dipungkiri bahwa perkembangan teknologi yang semakin canggih dan cepat telah menembus dunia pendidikan. Guru, sebagai pendidik, diminta untuk dapat mengoperasikan berbagai jenis media pembelajaran. Seiring berjalannya waktu, media pembelajaran juga telah berubah dari konvensional ke digital. Dalam konteks abad ke-21, media pembelajaran digital telah menjadi fokus sejak pandemi dimulai; salah satunya adalah aplikasi Quizizz. Tingkat pendidikan yang berbeda, dari sekolah dasar hingga sekolah tinggi, membuat media digital ini menjadi media alternatif yang dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran. Penelitian membahas keberadaan aplikasi Quizizz sebagai media pembelajaran digital yang paling banyak digunakan saat ini. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologis. Para peserta sampel penelitian, adalah mahasiswa studi lapangan di UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta selama periode September–November 2023. Teknik pengumpulan data termasuk wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas pendidik cenderung memilih aplikasi Quizizz sebagai alat belajar dalam menyampaikan materi yang dihasilkan, dan mereka dapat memberikan umpan balik untuk materi referensi serta melihat sejauh mana respon siswa terhadap materi yang telah disajikan.

Abstract

Nomophobia has become a prevalent issue which affects individuals today. This leads many to feel constantly connected to their devices. The term, derived from "No Mobile Phone Phobia," describes an excessive reliance on gadgets. This psychological condition is recognized as a global psychosocial phenomenon that influences mobile phone users and affects their morals and behavior. Alarmingly, this issue has also emerged among young children, with many preschoolers showing signs of addiction. This study is aimed at exploring the effects of nomophobia on early childhood, focusing on its moral and behavioral consequences in daily life. The study employed a qualitative case study approach and it involved two 5-year-old children. Data were collected through observations and unstructured interviews with their parents. The findings indicated that excessive gadget used in early childhood could significantly alter children's morals and behaviors. This was primarily due to insufficient parental supervision of their app usage. The study emphasized the need for intervention from adults, including both parents and teachers, who are the closest guardians to children in monitoring smartphone usage. These collaborative preventive measures to monitor and mitigate the negative impacts of smartphone usage are important to do. Future studies for exploring nomophobia in early childhood contexts are encouraged to delve deeper into the surrounding events and circumstances that affect children.

Abstract

Down Syndrome (DS) sebuah kondisi dengan kelainan kelebihan kromosom pada individu. Penyebab genetik ini berdampak terhadap karakterisitk dari penderita DS seperti rendahnya tingkat intelektual, bentuk fisik maupun rendahnya respon terhadap lingkungan. Keberadaan penderita DS saat ini kurang diterima oleh masyarakat sosialnya sehingga mereka mendapatkan perhatian yang buruk dari sebagian orang dan tidak terkecuali bagi orangtua yang belum siap menerima kenyataan anak mereka. Tujuan penelitian ini mengkaji tentang penderita down syndrome dalam lingkungan sosial bermasyarakat sehingga keberadaan mereka pada diterima oleh semua pihak. Penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis konten dengan sumber data dari bahan kajian beberapa literatur nasional dan internasional berbasis scopus dengan jumlah artikel 22 buah yang berkaitan dengan tema yang akan dibahas. Hasil penelitian ini menjelaskan bahwa penderita DS tidak lagi dianggap aneh di lingkungan masyarakat seperti sebelumnya sehingga mereka sudah bisa bersosialisasi dengan semua orang tanpa takut akan di diskrimintas lagi. Oleh karena itu, kedepannya diharapkan keadaaan penderita DS semakin bisa diterima lebih luas lagi ditengah masyarakat.
