Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia that occurs due to abnormalities in insulin secretion, insulin action or both. DM sufferers are increasing from year to year, accompanied by increasing costs of therapy, therefore, as an alternative to controlling blood glucose levels, use natural ingredients such as cocoa leaves. The aim of this research was to determine the effectiveness of ethanol extract of cocoa leaves (Theobroma cacao L.) in reducing blood glucose levels in mice that had been induced by Aloxan. The research method used was experimental research. The research stages were sample collection, sample identification, making simpilicia, examining the characteristics of simpilicia, making extracts using maceration using 96% ethanol solvent, and testing the antidiabetic effect of EEDC in mice induced by alloxan at a dose of 175 mg/kg. bb intraperitoneally. Diabetic mice were divided into 5 groups, each group consisting of 5 mice that were given the test material 50 mg/KgBB of ethanol extract of brown leaves; 100 mg/KgBB; and 200 mg/KgBB, Metformin 65 mg/KgBB, and CMC 0.5%. Next, blood glucose levels were measured on days 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15, the percentage reduction in blood glucose levels was calculated, then the data was analyzed using the One-Way ANOVA method and Duncan's test, to see real differences between treatments. The research results showed that simplicia, the ethanol extract of brown leaves contains flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, steroids/triterpenoids, saponins and glycosides. Cocoa leaf ethanol extract has effectiveness in lowering glucose levels, at the 5th and 6th hours it shows good effectiveness at a dose of 200 mg/KgBW of (72.16 ± 0.1.51)% and (82.80 ± 0.73 )%, not significantly different from metfromin 65 mg/KgBB of (74.45 ± 1.51)% and (83.29 ± 1.01).

Abstract

Acts of violence usually occur against helpless victims, especially women and children. In fact, this act of violence occurred in the environment closest to the victim, for example, the neighborhood or school, and was carried out by perpetrators who were supposed to protect women and children. This is usually caused by a low level of knowledge about the dangers of violence, especially on the victim's side. So it is necessary to carry out an educational program to prevent acts of violence against women and children in an effort to support government programs to minimize these actions. Counseling activities were carried out at the Al-Yasiriyah Brothers Education Foundation. Counseling is carried out with the mechanisms of the lecture method, discussions, and mini games, which aim to provide an interactive counseling impact that can meet the target of understanding the participants' understanding regarding information on preventing violence against women and children. The results of the counseling show that satisfaction with the implementation of the extension activities had an impact on increasing the knowledge of the extension participants, with a percentage score of 86%. With a description, each participant gave an assessment of being in the good category in the implementation of the extension activities. While the average assessment given by extension participants on the implementation of activities has an assessment level of 3.45, This counseling activity is expected to broaden the participants' insights regarding the impact and strategies for preventing violence in everyday life, especially for women and children.

Abstract

Personal hygiene represents an important indicator that can influence a person's health. Each individual can start practicing personal hygiene by paying attention to their routine when carrying out regular handwashing activities. Regularly washing hands is a habit that should be developed in daily life. The hands are used in daily activities to interact with various types of objects or make physical contact, such as shaking hands or touching objects touched by other people. Some adults, as well as children and students, often ignore the simple activity of washing hands. This has the potential to increase the possibility of microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses developing on the hands. The outreach activity on hand washing with soap at the Al-Yasiriyah Bersaudara Foundation aims to distribute hand washing education in six (six) steps. The purpose of this activity is to inform parents, guardians, and students about the importance of regularly washing hands with soap to minimize the potential spread of disease-causing microorganisms. We carry out extension activities using lecture, discussion, question and answer, and demonstration methods. The results of the activity evaluation indicate that the average satisfaction index for the implementation of the activity is 86%. Additionally, each counseling participant provided an average assessment value of 3.46. This illustrates the usefulness of counseling activities in the hand hygiene habituation process among counseling participants.
