This research was aimed at: (1) Identifying prehistoric sites in Pacitan District, (2) Utilizing prehistoric sites in Pacitan District as learning resources, and (3) uncovering learning strategies to improve students' understanding and character through learning resource utilization. It was kind of qualitative research using case study approach. In addition, the data was collected from the literature study, interview, and observation as well as content analysis. The trustworthiness of the research, in terms of validity, was by means of data triangulation. Song Terus and Song Keplek was a prehistoric site located in Pacitan which was the human shelter cave at the time. The traces of the legacy found in Song Terus and Song Keplek were fossils of fauna, flora, and artifacts in the form of tools of prehistoric human life; here is able to be used as a source of historical learning, especially the pre-history courses. The learning strategies, used to enhance students' understanding and characters such as historical awareness, nationalism, and academic skills, could be done through receptive teaching methods, discussions, inquiry, and field trips.
