<![CDATA[This study aims to determine how the experience of parents in caring for mentally disabled children. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive phenomenological approach. The results of the study obtained six themes, namely (1). The response of parents when their child is said to be RM, (2). RM child's birth weight, (3). RM's parenting pattern, (4). Parents' efforts to train RM's children's independence, (5). The form of family support for RM children, and (6). Efforts to increase the knowledge and motivation of parents about RM child care. In conclusion, the support given by parents is in the form of positive things in the form of love, respect, and attention. Sources of information and motivation for parents are obtained from the internet/google/social media; information and inspiration are also obtained from therapists and friends or parents who also have children with mental retardation.
