<![CDATA[The purpose of this study is to find out and aware of the process of using fingerprints in uncovering criminal acts of theft which are carried out for investigations in the jurisdiction of Polresta Jambi and to find out and realize the effectiveness of fingerprints as a supporter of the investigation process which is used as evidence in cases of criminal acts of theft in the jurisdiction Polresta Jambi. With many cases of theft with violence and weighting, the use of fingerprints in Polresta Jambi to revealing a crime of theft is because fingerprints are very accurate. With the use of fingerprints, the investigation process can be easier compared to other evidence, if fingerprints are found as initial evidence, the investigators just need to process the fingerprints and the identity of the owner of the fingerprint will be seen immediately, then the investigators just need to look for the person whose identity and known as suspected of being the perpetrator of the crime of theft. The effectiveness of Polresta Jambi has been very effective, it can be seen from the 27 cases that occurred from 2017-2020, It will be revealed using fingerprints as initial instructions because they were supported by sophisticated tools in which the tools were directly sent from the central INAFIS in Indonesia. Abstrak Tujuan Penelitian Untuk mengetahui dan menyadari proses penggunaan sidik jari dalam mengungkap tindak pidana pencurian yang dilakukan untuk penyidikan di wilayah hukum polresta jambi serta untuk mengetahui dan menyadari efektivitas sidik jari sebagai pendukung proses penyidikan yang dijadikan alat bukti dalam perkara tindak pidana pencurian di wilayah hukum polresta jambi. Dengan banyak kasus pencurian dengan kekerasan dan pemberatan, penggunaan sidik jari ini yang dilakukan oleh Polresta Jambi dalam mengungkapkan suatu tindak pidana pencurian karena sidik jari sifatnya sangat akurat. Dengan penggunaan sidik jari ini, maka proses penyidikan bisa lebih mudah dibanding dengan alat bukti lain, apabila sudah ditemukan sidik jari sebagai barang bukti awal, maka penyidik tinggal mengolah sidik jari tersebut dan akan terlihat langsung identitas pemilik sidik jari tersebut, lalu penyidik tinggal mencari orang yang sudah diketahui identitasnya itu yang di duga sebagai pelaku tindak pidana pencurian. Dan Efektivitasnya sendiri, untuk Polresta Jambi sudah sangat efektif terlihat dari 27 kasus yang terjadi dari tahun 2017-2020 semuanya terungkap dengan menggunakan sidik jari sebagai petunjuk awal karena didukung alat-alat yang canggih yang mana alat-alat tersebut langsung di kirim dari INAFIS pusat di Jakarta, sehingga untuk mengolah sidik jari tersebut tidak memakan waktu yang lama.]]>
