Diabetic foot ulcer is a complication of Diabetes mellitus which is characterized by sores on the feet. This disease can cause stress due to wounds that never heal for the sufferer. One strategy that can be done is to provide personal education regarding self-care and stress management. This study aims to determine the effect of personal education on self care and stress in diabetic foot ulcer patients in the city of Padang. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-posttest with control group design. The sample in this study were 34 respondents with 17 in the intervention group and 17 in the control group. The instruments in this study used the SDSCA questionnaire for self care and the DDS questionnaire for stress. Personal educational interventions were given in 8 meetings. Data were analyzed using the Mann Withney-U test. The results showed that there was an effect of personal education on self care in DFU patients with ?=0.000 (?0.05) and there was an effect of personal education on stress in DFU patients with ?=0.000 (?0.05). This study concludes that personal education had a significant impact to wards self-care and stress among DFU patients.
