Abstract

This article describes the results of the community service activities for training, coaching and mentoring on producer dadih groups in the District Tilatang Kamang . This activity aims to: 1) increase the motivation of entrepreneurial partners; 2) increase the insight and knowledge of maintenance management buffaloes; 3) improve the ability of the partners to diversify into multiple product dadih and 4) developing the marketing area. The results of this activity are: 1) increase the entrepreneurial spirit partner as efforts to support the development of the group; 2) Activity buffaloes maintenance management counselling can improve insight and knowledge in raising livestock breeder buffalo; 3) Training and the pilot was able to increase revenue diversification dadih and 4) The promotion and development of network marketing has been used as a marketing strategy to increase the production volume of business groups.

Abstract

This activity was carried out in Java Gadut, Limau Manis Village, Pauh District, Padang. West Sumatra Province. This area has the potential for culinary business because it is located around the Andalas University campus, but this business has not been explored either due to lack of knowledge on how to improve and manage the business. This activity aimed to improve and develop human resources and community empowerment efforts through various community service programs and it is hoped that this potential can be developed. This activity was carried out with counseling methods, lectures, training and provision of equipment. The results of this activity can increase entrepreneurial motivation for partners. This can be seen from the results of their response to the activities carried out, most (85%) they are satisfied with the existence of this service activity. Increasing the entrepreneurial spirit of the members of the food business is expected to increase partner income.

Abstract

The project is carried out in business partner Blue Garden Farm in Tanjung Jati, VII Koto Talago Village, Guguak District, and Regency of Lima Puluh Kota. The location has the potential to develop agriculture and animal husbandry. One of the many agricultural sectors in the region is bananas. People usually only use this fruit while others are wasted. In response to the above problems, a solution to the development and utilization of banana weevil to prepare IMO (Indigenous Microorganisms) was given. IMO is a group of microorganisms derived from natural ingredients that can accelerate the organic composting process. The carbohydrate content of banana weevils is relatively high, 66.2%, which will trigger the development of microorganisms during the fermentation process in the IMO producing process. It aimed to increase the economic value of banana weevil, providing another alternative for farmers to improve agricultural quality. This program used an empowerment method with several approaches, namely learning methods and mentoring with a team in solving problems. An evaluation was carried out to determine the knowledge of farmers' ability about the technology for producing IMO banana weevil. In this community service activity, farmers have made and produced MOL banana weevil. They have been used as a decomposer to manufacture liquid organic fertilizer/bio urine.

Abstract

This paper discussed the potency of kampong chickens as the main source of employment and income in West Sumatra. From about 2 millions of Indonesian kampong chickens in 2005, about 5.725.515 were found in West Sumatra. In terms of egg production, body weight gain and feed utilization efficiency, the productivity and biological performances of kampong chickens were much lower than that of hybrid chickens. On the other hand, the product of kampong chickens, e.g. egg and meat, in the market were normally valued higher by the consumers because of their better taste and healthier product. In addition, kampong chickens could be intensively reared in lower production cost because of their lower nutritional and management requirements. Results of some studies has shown that production of kampong chicken might be directed for business unit as back yard or intensively farming especially in supporting of economic development in the rural community.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the partnership pattern and the income of broiler breeders partnering with PT. Karya Semangat Mandiri (KSM) and Torang Poultry Shop in East Payakumbuh District. The census method was used in this study through a survey method and direct observation in the field using a questionnaire involving 12 broiler breeders who partnered with PT. KSM and ten broiler breeders partnered with Torang Poultry Shop. Descriptive qualitative and quantitative analyses were used to analyze the data by observing the patterns and calculating the costs, income, and revenues. The results of the study indicated that the breeders partnered with PT. KSM adopted a plasma core partnership pattern with a written agreement, and the farmers were required to place a security deposit to the company. The farmer who partnered with Torang Poultry Shop used a profit-sharing pattern in which the benefits were equally shared. The agreement was not in written form, and the farmers did not provide a security deposit. The income of farmers partnered with PT. KSM was higher compared to income of the farmers partnered with the Torang Poultry Shop

Abstract

In West Sumatra, buffalo milked to produce milk that is processed into curd. The curd was traditional food made from buffalo milk that is cured at room temperature for 2 to 3 days in a bamboo tube closed banana leaves, creamy white with a dense and smooth texture, flavor and aroma typical acid (smell bamboo). Targets was increase efforts to reproduce the variation of production and product (product diversification: Ice curd, buttermilk pudding, curd Aroma Tape, Jelly Candy curd) by using a particular technology, and improving packaging curd in order to expand the market that leads to an increase in income of farmers and businessman curd). Based on the report of activities that have been described, here are some conclusions that can be produced (1). Entrepreneurial motivation training activities can increase entrepreneurial spirit curd producers in an effort to support the development activities of the business group. (2) The maintenance management counseling buffaloes able to develop the knowledge of farmers in raising livestock buffalo. (3). Pilot training and diversification curd able to increase revenue. (4). Promotion and development of network marketing has been used as a marketing strategy to increase production volume group.

Abstract

The dedication was held on 2 (two) groups of farmers in Padang Panjang, which Farmers Group Permata Ibu and Lembah Makmur. The problems that be founded were (1) the production of milk was still low, (2) the lacked of diversification of products and packaging technology, (3). lacked of market segmentation. These activities provided information to improve the quality and quantity of milk production. Providing products diversification Technologies such as making yogurt, ice cream and milk pudding method. Then all of these products were packed by using innovations such as the use of plastic cups and aluminum foil that has been labeled the farmer groups. Market expansion was conducted in several schools, cafes and restaurants in Padang Panjang City.

Abstract

Dendeng merupakan salah satu produk panganan yang bisa bertahan lama jika dikemas dengan baik dan benar. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan 1) Memberikan pengetahuan pada mitra tentang manajemen usaha yang baik, 2) Meningkatkan omset penjualan dan pendapatan produsen dendeng jantung pisang melalui perbaikan pengemasan produk. Mitra berlokasi di Kabupaten Padang Pariaman yang tergabung dalam Asosiasi Wanita Tani (ASWATA) Kabupaten Padang Pariaman, Sumatera Barat. Kegiatan  ini dilaksanakan pada bulan November tahun 2017. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini menunjukkan pengaruh yang positif terhadap mitra. Pengetahuan tentang manajemen usaha yang baik bagi usaha sangat menarik bagi mitra sehingga terjadi diskusi yang aktif antara pengabdi dan mitra. Setelah dilakukan perbaikan pengemasan dendeng jantung pisang, KWT Kebersamaan mendapatkan banyak pesanan dendeng sehingga omzet penjualan yang biasanya 5 kg/produksi sekarang menjadi 8-10 kg/produksi. Kemasan dendeng jantung pisang yang diberikan berupa kemasan aluminium foil yang dikombinasikan dengan plastik transparan serta label yang menarik.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the potential for the development of the livestock sector based on innovation system reinforcement by looking at maturity level condition of the existing innovation system in Lima Puluh Kota . The method used is ANIS with the Expert Opinion Survey. The results showed that the average value of maturity level towards innovation system of the livestock sector in Lima Puluh Kota regency was 2.56 means that the maturity level towards innovation system of the livestock sector in Lima Puluh Kota Regency still in the developing position 1.5 to 3 has still not been established yet 3 to 4. At the macro level for policy, it obtained an average value 2.62, average value of messolevel 2.41 for institutional, average value of messo level 2.56 for program and the average value 2.66 for the highest micro level.
