Abstract

Abstract

This paper deals with a comparative study of circle criterion based nonlinear observer and H∞ observer for induction motor (IM) drive. The  advantage of the circle criterion approach for nonlinear observer design is that it directly handles the nonlinearities of the system with less restriction  conditions in contrast of the other methods which attempt to eliminate them. However the H∞ observer guaranteed the stability taking into account disturbance and noise attenuation. Linear matrix inequality (LMI) optimization approach is used to compute the gains matrices for the two observers. The simulation results show the superiority of H∞ observer in the sense that it can achieve convergence to the true state, despite the nonlinearity of model and the presence of disturbance.

Abstract

The accuracy of state of charge (SoC) measurement has been an important key in the design of Battery Management System (BMS). A SoC measurement can prevent the battery from both overcharged and undercharged condition. One of the conventional methods for SoC estimation is coloumb counting (CC). This method has a drawback regarding to the accumulation of error propagation. To improve the accuracy of CC method, the integral observer could be added. In our work charge-discharge data simulation generated by PSIM was used to test the Integral observer performance. This research used general lithium-ion battery. It was found that this approach could significantly correct the error from the numerical integral calculation and discrete data input. The error of CC method at 4000 sec was found to reach 25%; however the error propagation could be decreased up to less than <3% by Integral observer.

Abstract

Abstract

AbstractBadan Meteorologi Klimatologi dan Geofisika (BMKG) is one of the Indonesian government-owned entity that specifically address the issue of climate and weather in Indonesia. Information of weather data are needed both by government and the public, it relates to the planning of work activities that depend on weather conditions, such as agriculture, shipping, fishing, flight, and so forth. Observer is the officer who specifically collect information each time weather conditions. The data from the observer is then further processed to become the weather information and forecast weather. Often the work of the observer becomes longer because besides entry the data, the observer must also do codefication and recreate reports from the data ME-48. This writing discusses the development of applications to assist observers in processing weather data record using SDLC development methods as well as qualitative descriptive research method. Results of application development shows that the application can process the data ME-48 into a form reports like ME-45, WXREV, Rain Card, Climatology and average monthly weather elements that usually must be done manually by the observer, is now using the application does not require long time to generate all the reports. Keywords: Observer, Website, Weather Application.

Abstract

One of the primary advantages of field-oriented controlled induction motor for high performance application is the capability for easy field weakening and the full utilization of voltage and current rating of the inverter to obtain a wide dynamic speed rangeThis paper describes a Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS) based scheme using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) for online speed estimation of sensorless vector controlled induction motor drive. The proposed MRAS speed observer uses the current model as an adaptive model. The neural network has been then designed and trained online by employing a back propagation network (BPN) algorithm. The estimator was designed and simulated in Matlab/Simulink. Simulation result shows a good performance of speed estimator. The simulation results show good performance in various operating conditions. Also Performance analysis of speed estimator with the change in resistances of stator is presented. Simulation results show this estimator robust to parameter variations especially resistances of stator.

Abstract

In 3-phase systems, the reliability of 3-phase Inverter is not good. In such situations Paralleled Inverter Systems are used. Parallel Inverter operation has a major topic in uninterruptible power system (UPS) applications where the design is focused on the standalone operation, and output stage is typically an inductor-capacitor filter. Most of the standalone inverter systems use a LC filter and proportional-integral (PI) controller in their control loops. When connecting the paralleled inverters to utility grids, the capacitor becomes redundant and thus either a pure inductor or an LCL filter can be used as inverter output stage. Compared with the L filter, the LCL filter is more attractive because it cannot only provide higher harmonics attenuation with same inductance value, but also allow inverter to operate both in standalone and grid-tie modes, which makes it a universal inverter for distributed generation applications. Output of Inverter should always be checked. In this paper, a full order observer for Inverter System is designed and is used for estimation of State Variables of the Inverter System. Two modes are adopted: a) Grid-tie Mode b) Standalone Mode. MATLAB/Simulink is used to verify and validate the proposed idea.
