Abstract

The purpose of this Classroom Action Research (CAR) is to overcome that personal and social guidance can improve student learning achievement. And to find out how to provide group services in order to increase student learning achievement. The location in question covers aspects of the place is the location where the learning process takes place namely class XI IPS 1 SMA Negeri 1 Kayuagung. The actor's aspect is the researcher, as a teacher and student of class XI IPS 1 who is involved in learning interactions. The activity aspect is group service for Improvement of Learning Achievement Through Personal and Social Guidance Fields Effective and Efficient Learning Materials with group services in class XI IPS 1 Kayuagung 1 Public High School 2017/2018 Academic Year. On effective and efficient learning material. Based on the results of the study and the learning outcomes, it can be concluded that the personal and social learning can increase the Learning Achievement of the Guidance Field in Effective and Efficient Learning Materials of the XI IPS 1 students at Kayuagung 1 Public Senior High School 2017/2018 in the first cycle of 77.54. % and second cycle 86.11%.

Abstract

Grammar is the science that teaches how to compose words to become a sentence correctly. According to Gleason and Ratner, 2009: 231-269;Thornbury, 1999 that grammar is a set of rules that explores the forms and structures of sentences that can be used in a language. Some people assume that gender is very influential in understanding something. Female are considered more perceptive in understanding a thing while the male are more sluggish in understanding a thing. According to Grey (2001) convey that female have the verbal intelligence (language) than male. The type of the research was analytic observational with Microsoft Excel. The study was conducted in English students 2018-A of STKIP PGRI JOMBANG. The population in this study was English students 2018-A o f STKIP PGRI JOMBANG. The sample in this study was 10 students that consist 5 male students and 5 female students. The research instrument to collect data was a questioners. The results showed that Gender influences the results of students' understanding of grammar. The factor that most influences the results is the level of student learning. Female is more diligent than male, evidenced by female learning English. Therefore the researchers want to find out a difference in student learning outcomes and there are factors that cause a difference in student learning results for male and female students 2018A English Students of STKIP PGRI JOMBANG.

Abstract

Tenses in grammar are considered to be one of the difficult parts of learning English by most young students,because tenses are not well mastered by students as a simple indicator, general students think twelve or maybe sixteen tenses in English. This conceptual confusion leads to a low budget for applying English in the right limits. According to Merriam Webster gender is a person's internal sense of being male, female, some combination of male and female, or neither male nor female. Female and male have different characteristics and different abilities as in understanding grammar. Abstract

This article reports on the result of a study aiming to describe what difficulties experienced by Batak English learner in consonant sound production and the factors which cause him difficult to produce those sounds. The study was conducted to Batak English learner who is still taking pronunciation course in the first semester in the English study program at one of private universities in East Java, Indonesia. The study used a qualitative case study research design with the data collected from the analysis of students’ English consonants production and interview. The findings showed that all sounds of voiceless dental frecative consonant [θ] in initial position were pronounced into voiceless alveolar stop consonant [t] while the research participant was pronouncing the sound of voiced dental frecative consonant [ð], he mispronounced the sound into voiced alveolar stop consonant [d] in both initial and medial position. The sound of voiced alveolar affricate consonants [dʒ] was pronounced appropriately while voiceless alveolar affricate consonant was pronounced into voiceless alveolar fricative consonant [s]. The factors which cause the participant find it difficult to learn pronunciation were afraid of making mistakes, limited time to repeat it at home, and habit.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan instrument pengukuran kepuasan mahasiswa dalam peningkatan mutu layanan perguruan tinggi. Pengembangan instrument ini dimaksudkan agar institusi perguruan tinggi memiliki instrument pengukuran kepuasan mahasiswa yang valid dan reliable dalam mengukur kepuasan mahasiswa terhadap layanan administrative, dan kepuasan mahasiswa terhadap layanan proses pembelajaran. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Research and Development atau penelitian pengembangan. Proses pengembangan dilakukan dalam lima tahap, yaitu: analisis potensi dan masalah, perencanaan desain produk, uji coba produk, uji validitas dan reliabilitas produk, dan produksi masal. Pada instrument pengukuran kepuasan mahasiswa terhadap layanan administrative, scree plot menunjukan adanya perbedaan atau selisish yang sangat besar antara nilai igen faktor pertama dengan efaktor kedua. Sehingga instrument pengukuran kepuasan mahasiswa terhadap layanan administrative dinyatakan valid. Pada instrument pengukuran kepuasan mahasiswa terhadap layanan proses pembelajaran, diperoleh satu faktor yang memiliki nilai eigen di atas 1,00 (>1,00). Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa seluruh butir dalam instrumen pengukuran kepuasan mahasiswa terhadap proses pembelajaran hanya membentuk satu faktor bersama, yaitu faktor kepuasan terhadap proses pembelajaran. Sehingga isntrumen pengukuran kepuasan mahasiswa terhadap layanan proses pembelajaran dinyatakan valid. Uji reliabilitas instrument pengukuran kepuasan terhadap layanan administrative diperoleh nilai Cronbach’s Alpha sebesar 0,843. Sehingga instrumen pengukuran kepuasan mahasiswa terhadap layanan administratif dinyatakan reliable. Uji reliabilitas instrument pengukuran kepuasan terhadap layanan proses pembelajaran diperoleh nilai Cronbach’s Alpha sebesar 0,777. Dengan demikian instrumen pengukuran kegiatan ekstra dapat dinyatakan reliabel.

Abstract

This study was held to describe design and process of mathematical logic learning in STMIK Yadika Bangil by using jigsaw cooperative learning model of instruction, and to check its implementation effectiveness. The result of this study showed positive marks for all the aspects that had been evaluated, which are consist of students’ motivation, students’ attitude toward the jigsaw cooperative learning, students’ involvement in learning, and students’ achievement. The students’ achievement was evaluated by using the result of scoring toward students’ pre-test and post-test. The scoring rubric was used in scale from one to four. The pre-test result showed accumulation score of 49, or 40,83%. After the instruction where the jigsaw cooperative learning was used, students’ post-test accumulation score increased to 86 or 71,67%.

Abstract

The purpose of writing this article is to discuss mathematical communication skills, ranging from understanding, indicators on measuring mathematical communication skills, models, strategies, variants of questions that can be used to measure mathematical communication skills, and approaches that can be applied to develop them. The conclusion of this article based on the results of a scientific literature review is as follows: (1) Mathematical communication skills consist of oral and written communication. Oral communication in the form of: explaining and discussion, while writing communication in the form of: expressing mathematical ideas by means of equations, tables, images / graphics and with the students' own language. (2) Indicators of mathematical communication skills: mathematical expressions (mathematical expression), written (written text), and drawing (drawing). (3) Types of description questions that can be used to measure mathematical abilities are like applicative, transfer, elaborative, and explorative questions. (4) Types of models and learning approaches that can be used to improve mathematical communication skills are: PMR approach, problem posing learning model with PMR approach, problem solving learning model with PMR approach, and reciprocal teaching.obesity in children is the relationship of genetic factors with the parents, not the share of food intake with energy output being consumed must be issued, and the lack of performing activities the sport has also become another cause factor against obesity it is art learning modules and skills at elementary school students of the country Randusari.

Abstract

We present an implementation about mind mapping learning of part of speech on direct explanation using mind mapping to the students. This research aims to share the knowledge about learning part of speech using mind mapping and also to know the students’ comprehension ability about it. So that student can understand its function of each part of speech by using simple learning of mind mapping. This study was carried out among 20 students ofSTKIP PGRI Jombang especially in English Department. This study was descriptive and applied qualitative research method. The results show that 25% student have a very good comprehension and 50% have good comprehension20%have an enough comprehension and the last 5% are having low comprehension about part of speech (n=20). Part of speech is one of grammar factor that very important basic to understand the whole next grammar. Therefore, we need to share the explanation clearly and simple to the students who still don’t understand. In conclusion, the students’ comprehension in grammar about part of speech using mind mapping were categorized into “good comprehensive” category. However, based on these results, we have managed to put forward a number of recommendation and suggestion.

Abstract

Translation has always been the core of the controversy on whether it can be a valid and effective tool in foreign language learning. Translation is a language learning activity considered appropriate in the context of foreign language learning (Brown, 2002). The aim of the study is how to know most effective in translation, google translation or manual translation. The participant are 2017-B students (8 females and 2 males) learning grammar. Their background knowledge would help them to effectively acquire manual translation and based knowledge during online translation help their learning outcomes. The sig value is 0,006 < 0,05 it means that; Ho is rejected and Ha accepted. Which mean that there is significant different in student translate with manual translation and using online translation. So, the student has more easy understanding with the online translation. Based on the result of the table about the score with analyze using SPSS in T-Test student on average get better score in online translation. It means that error tenses or the validity tenses more accurate with online translation. Base on the result of this research we can see that online translation is more valid when translating, but manual translation can also produce better translated results if we add to our background knowledge we can see that still many student can not understand about the material in prepositional grammar.

Abstract

Learning style of everyone can be a factor to the people to have different understanding competency about information. One of this is English and it can be different for everyone. The goal of this research was to describe English competency of 62 mathematical students by their learning style using questioner of learning style and TOEP. The result shown that there were seven type of learning style: auditory, kinesthetic, visual, auditory- kinesthetic, auditory-visual, kinesthetic-visual, and auditory-kinesthetic- visual that all of them have good listening competency than another.
