Abstract

Arguing ability was a part of critical thinking skills which important to be mastered by the students. In fact, students’ ability to argue was still relatively low. This referred to the TIMSS report (The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study) in 2011, and showed that Indonesian children’s level in science was positioned in 42 from 45 countries. One kind of efforts to improve the quality of the ability to argue was applying the model of guided inquiry. This study was aimed to develop inquiry-based learning tools (PPBIT) and analyzed its effectiveness in developing the ability to argue of students at SMAN 2 Taliwang-West Sumbawa. PPBIT was carried out by applying 4D procedure. Then, pretest posttest control group design also completely concerned in determining the effectiveness of PPBIT. There were 66 students as the sample which was scattered from two classes and was selected by using purposive sampling technique. The results showed that PPBIT was appropriately to be used for students argumentation  skills’ activities by an average of feasibility syllabus 78.71%, RPP 83.5, LKITS 75%, and Instruments KB 80.25%, and effective in improving the ability to argue the class X SMAN 2 Taliwang, particularly on the subject of environmental pollution and recycling of waste by the average score of the students' ability from 48.22 up to 85.08Keyword: PPBIT, Argument

Abstract

This study aims to identify the types of endophytic bacteria on the bark of terap (Artocarpus elasticus) capable of inhibiting the growth of clinical isolate bacteria of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Stages of this study were (1) isolating the endophytic bacteria from the bark of terap plants (2) antibacterial test (inhibition test) against clinical isolate bacteria, (3) biochemical test upon endophytic isolate bacteria showing strong  inhibition effect, (4) moleculer identifcation upon endophytic bacteria isolate showing strong  inhibition effect. From this study, it was obtained 34 barks of terap isolates, and 12 isolates have inhibitory effect on S. aureus. Based on 16S rRNA   molecular identification, the isolate of endophytic bacteria of the barks were identified as Bacillus cereus, Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus amyloliquefaciens. Those  endophytic bacteria of Terap plants  are potentially  to be  developed as a the producer of antibacterial compounds. Keywords: Terap bark, Endophytic bacteria, Identification, Antibacteria

Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in understanding of elementary school science concepts using media science comics. The method used in this research is qualitative research with data collection techniques, namely literature studies. The data collection technique used is by collecting and studying data on various research results from journals, theses, scientific articles, and relevant journals. The data that has been obtained, analyzed, and studied in-depth, systematically, and critically are then described in a narrative. Based on the results of research, the literature study states that the use of media science comics can improve understanding of the concept of science in elementary schools. From the results of the research analysis showed that the results of the pretest scores of students had low concept understanding in the experimental class and the control class. After being given treatment, the results of the posttest scores showed a significant increase in the experimental class

Abstract

Reference material plays an important role in determining the validity of measurement results based on SNI ISO/IEC 17025: 2017. In order to obtain a valid and accurate composition, the standard procedure for making gas reference material has been regulated in ISO 6142. Thus, this article will discuss in detail about the determination of the reference material composition along with its uncertainty based on ISO 6142. Starting with the results of a precise weighing, the concentration of each component of the gas reference material is determined gravimetrically and verified by analytical methods, one of which is gas chromatography (GC). The concentration uncertainty of each component is a combination of the contribution from repeatability of the weighing results, the uncertainty of the composition of the gas raw material, the molecular mass of the gas component, and the total uncertainty of the reference material verification. It is hoped that the detailed discussion in this article can improve the competence of stakeholders in the field of gas measurement in determining the composition of gas reference material concentrations and estimating uncertainty.

Abstract

To improve students' academic ability is necessary to the development of innovation in learning. Development of the learning device will be able to improve the quality of content, process, and learning outcomes of students. In order to achieve these objectives, the steps that need to be done is to analyze the competencies or learning objectives, identifying the characteristics of learners and establish a learning environment. To develop the necessary creativity learning educators to create interesting learning activities. Development of a learning device demands of the curriculum in higher education system. According Kepmendiknas 232 / U / 2000 higher education curriculum is a set of plans and arrangements regarding content and study materials and lessons as well as the delivery and assessment are used as guidelines for the organization of teaching and learning in higher education. This research aims to develop outdoor learning model learning device that is expected to improve the learning outcomes of students. Development of the learning device refers to a model of Dick and Carey. Developed learning tools such as syllabi, lecture events unit, student activity sheet and instruments of learning outcomes in the course of plant morphology. Data were collected using instruments feasibility of device which is validated by validator. The results showed that the learning device such as syllabi, lecture events unit, student activity sheet gets categorized, achievement test gets categorized as very feasible to be implemented on plant morphology courses for students of the second semester. Keywords: Devices, outdoor learning, learning outcomes
