Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the validity of telepon kaleng game as a medium to stimulate the linguistic intelligence of early childhood, as well as to know the merits and drawbacks of telepon kaleng game as learning media. The research method used is research and development (R D). Development procedures include planning, design, and development. Product validation is done by alpha test, beta test, and final evaluation. Apha test is validated by an expert in material development and an expert in teaching-media development. Meanwhile, the subjects in beta test are students BA Aisyiah Yanggong and BA Aisyiah Wonoasri Jenangan District, Ponorogo Regency. The result of this research is the development of telepon kaleng game as a media to stimulate linguistic intelligence of early child. The tools and materials used in this development are used-can, thread / rope, flannel, scissors, and double tape. Material experts and media experts have validated telepon kaleng products developed. From validation, the results need to improve the use of tin cans and the improvement of learning materials. In the next stage, feasibility testing for users in BA 'Aisyiah Yanggong and BA' Aisyiah Wonoasri Jenang Subdistrict of Ponorogo Regency, from the result of the experiment showed that telepon kaleng could be used to stimulate the linguistic intelligence of early child. These telepon kalengs, when used in unlimited form by children, stimulate linguistic intelligence more than IN structured-form. The merit of telepon kaleng as a linguistic intelligence stimulus medium is an attractive form of the child compared totelepon kaleng without any accessories. Children tend to prefer things that are bright and engaging. The drawback of this telepon kaleng, if it is used continuously, is that it will lead to monotonous learning process so it needs to alternate with other game equipment.

Abstract

The Curriculum 2013 entailed the importance of developing the physical ability (PA) of early age children (EAC). In fact, the standard measurement or instrument to assess the PA of early childhood has not been formulated yet to be used in the whole country. Therefore, it is required to develop the standard instrument to measure the physical ability of children. The Center for Japanese Studies, Research and Community Services of Universitas Sebelas Maret, Indonesia collaboratively worked with HIMPAUDI (The Association of Early Childhood Education Indonesia) of District Karanganom in Klaten Regency to develop the standard achievement of Klaten's children based on the instrument of PA adopted from Japan. This program involved 21 ECE nurseries in Karanganom, and 70 instructors participated in the program. The activities were based on an action research aimed to change the mindset of related instructors on PA, connection between PA and cognitive development. It also trained the skills of instructors on measuring the PA. The program was conducted from July to September 2017. As the program ran, data of children' PA was also measured, and as the entry of database developed for Karanganom. There are five indicators of PA which represent the stability, locomotive, and manipulative movements, adapted from Japanese PA measurement. The results of database showed the average measurement of children' PA in Karanganom, and were compared to the Japanese peers, the achievement was lower. The instrument has to be validated and examined in the various regions and periods.

Abstract

The introduction of language can start at an early age, although English is not a language that must be mastered in Indonesia. However, introducing this language for early childhood will not be an incorrect choice. This article discusses the application of Lingokids thoroughly in various countries. Data obtained by document analysis and literature were then analyzed using qualitative narative-descriptive method. There are some results from document and literature studies in some non-English countries. This application has become one of the applications used in English introduction.

Abstract

This study aimed at ascertaining: (1) the length of sentences obtained by three-year-olds, (2) sentence structure of three-year-olds, (3) average length of speech based on Mean Length of Utterance (MLU). This research applied descriptive qualitative method. The data collecting technique used interview, record, and note-taking techiques. Five children aged three years and a drift of a maximum of three months to be the object of this study. Conversations of children with parents and their families were recorded, then they were analyzed to find out the sentences they produce. The sentences produced by children were analyzed to find out  the sentence mode of sentence length, sentence structure, and average length of speech based on Mean Length of Utterance (MLU). The results showed that the acquisition of syntax in children aged three years within a maximum of three months in the Graha Mukti Regency showed the average has a MLU 2.327 is at stage V.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve children’s cognitive ability of Group A in ECE Yasmin Jember, which was focused on (1) the ability to recognize simple concepts in daily life; (2) the ability to observe and curiosity; (3) the ability to classify; (4) the ability to relate cause and effect. This study was conducted by using qualitative descriptive approach. 11 children of Group A in ECE Yasmin Jember were subject of this study. Data collection techniques used observation, interview, and documentation. Miles and Huberman model were chosen as data analysis techniques which has three steps; data reduction, data display, and drawing or conclusion (verification). Based on research and data analysis during learning process activities known that there were 6 children who have been able to show interest in learning and problem solving while 45% or 5 of the 11 children required motivation and guidance in terms of expressing curiosity and solving problems when they were in science center. This happened because previously 5 children have ever been attended school at other, so they did not follow the whole same learning activities in ECE Yasmin Jember.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of traditional games ‘congklak’ and self-confidence towards mathematical logical intelligence. Mathematical logical intelligence concept proposed by Howard Garnder becomes the foundation of the emergence of the young learners teaching learning process that considers young learners individual potential. Playing is one of the ways for the young learners to learn and traditional game is one of the ways to develop the mathematical logical intelligence. By applying the suitable traditional game, both the students’ self-confidence and the mathematical logical intelligence can be improved.  In order to know the effect of traditional games and self-confidence to the mathematical logical intelligence, the experimental research using ANAVA analysis was applied. It was found that traditional game “congklak” with the high level of self- confidence students  was better than those with the low self- confidence students. The result  of the data analysis also showed that there was interactional effect between traditional game  and self -confidence to the mathematical logical intelligence in which F observed =114,023 was bigger than l F table = 3,95 in the level of significance α 0.05.
