This journal, with ISSN 2088-1290, was firstly published on June 1, 2011, in the context to commemorate the Birthday of Pancasila's Name in Indonesia. Since issue of June 2012 to December 2014, the ATIKAN journal was organized by the Lecturers of FKIP UNSUR (Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, Suryakancana University) in Cianjur; and, since issue of December 2014 to June 2015, by the Lecturers of FPOK UPI (Faculty of Sport and Health Education, Indonesia University of Education) in Bandung; and published by Minda Masagi Press as a publisher owned by ASPENSI (the Association of Indonesian Scholars of History Education) in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The articles published in ATIKAN journal are able to be written in English as well as in Indonesian and Malay languages. This journal is published twice a year i.e. every June and December. The ATIKAN journal is devoted, but not limited to, primary education, secondary education, higher education, teacher education, special education, adult education, non-formal education, and any new development and advancement in the field of education. The scope of our journal includes: (1) Language and literature education; (2) Social science education; (3) Sports and health education; (4) Economy and business education; (5) Math and natural science education; (6) Vocational and engineering education; and (7) Visual arts, dance, music, and design education.

Abstract

IKHTISAR: Kajian kes ini bertujuan untuk melihat keberkesanan pengaplikasian teknik WDEP, iaitu “Want”, kemahuan; “Doing and direction”, tindakan dan arah tuju; “Evaluation”, penilaian; dan “Plan”, perancangan, terhadap klien yang mengalami masalah kebimbangan melampau akibat melahirkan anak luar nikah. Klien adalah pelajar tahun akhir dan tergolong dalam kumpulan “percubaan” (keputusan PNGK kurang dari 2.0). Klien tanpa dirujuk dan secara sukarela datang berjumpa kaunselor selepas selamat melahirkan anak. Klien melalui enam sesi kaunseling individu, termasuk satu sesi pra. Setiap sesi mengambil masa lebih-kurang antara satu hingga dua jam. Kaunselor mengaplikasikan teknik WDEP yang bertujuan untuk mengurangkan rasa bimbang yang melampau dalam diri klien. Hasil dari sesi kaunseling individu menunjukkan bahawa klien berjaya mengubah pemikiran negatif dan tingkah-laku kepada lebih positif. Klien juga berjaya mengurangkan rasa kebimbangan melampau, di samping dapat mengawal emosi dan perasaan negatif selepas melalui sesi kaunseling individu. Kesimpulannya, klien mengakui bahawa sesi kaunseling telah membantu beliau untuk menghadapi masa depan dengan cara yang lebih positif dan praktikal. KATA KUNCI: Teknik WDEP, kebimbangan, pelajar universiti, mengawal emosi, kaunseling individu, serta sikap positif dan praktikal.ABSTRACT: “The Application of WDEP Technique towards the Suffers Extreme Anxiety Students”. This case study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of applying WDEP (Want, Doing and direction, Evaluation, and Plan) technique towards client who suffers extreme anxiety due to give birth out of wedlock. The client was a final year student and considered as a “trial” student (CGPA less than 2.0). The client approached counselor voluntarily and seek for counseling service immediately after giving her birth. She went through six individual counseling sessions, including a pre-session. Each session lasted for approximately one to two hours. The counselor applied WDEP technique that aims to reduce the extreme anxiety within the client. The result from the individual session conducted shows that the client managed to change her negative perceptions, thinking, and behavior to a more positive way. She turned to be more positive in reducing her extreme anxiety and was quite stable in her emotions and feelings. Abstract

IKHTISAR: Pendidikan IPS (Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial), khususnya pendidikan Geografi, harus memberikan kesadaran tentang kondisi ruang dengan segala dimensi dan problematikanya. Sejak di lingkungan sekolah dan keluarga, peserta didik dibiasakan untuk menata, memanfaatkan, dan mencintai ruang di lingkungannya. Namun seiring dengan kemajuan zaman, yang ditandai oleh perkembangan IPTEK (Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi), sikap manusia terhadap alam dan lingkungannya juga mengalami perubahan. Justru itu, inilah tugas pendidikan IPS, khususnya pendidikan Geografi, untuk membekali dan memberikan kesadaran tentang keruangan dalam konteks kehidupan budaya global. Dalam waktu yang sama, pendidikan IPS, khususnya pendidikan Geografi, juga tetap memberikan bekal dan kesadaran tentang keruangan dalam konteks budaya nasional dan bahkan lokal. Dengan begini maka peserta didik tetap dapat berpikir dan berwawasan global, bersikap nasional, dan bertindak dalam konteks lokal dalam kehidupan sehari-hari mereka. Dengan demikian, fenomena globalisasi bukanlah sesuatu yang perlu ditakuti dan dihindari, namun harus disambut, diapresiasi, dan diaktualisasikan dalam konteks kehidupan budaya nasional dan lokal di Indonesia.KATA KUNCI: Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial, pendidikan Geografi, dimensi ruang, peserta didik, serta wawasan lokal, nasional, dan global.ABSTRACT: “Geography and Social Studies Education in the Global Perspective: Its Roles and Challenges in the Indonesian Context”. Social Studies education, Geography education in particular, must give awareness about the condition of the space with all its dimensions and problems. Since in the school and family environments, learners accustomed to organize, harness, and loved the space in the environment. But along with the progress of time, which is characterized by the development of Science and Technology, human attitudes toward nature and the environment is also changing. Exactly, this is the task of Social Studies education, Geography education in particular, to equip and provide spatial awareness in the context of global cultural life. At the same time, Social Studies education, particularly Geography education, also continued to provide supplies and spatial awareness in the context of national and even local culture. In this way, students can still thinking in global perspective, national attitude, and act in a local context in their daily lives. Abstract

ABSTRACT: With the advancement of knowledge, the world is becoming more and more competitive. Quality of performance has become the key factor for an individual achievement. The present study was carried out to compare intelligence and academic achievement in relation to students’ gender, stream, and socio-economic status. Total 200 boys and girls from Science and Humanities streams were taken as the sample of the study. Investigator used M.C. Joshi’s intelligence test (1956) and socio-economic status scale by S.D. Kapoor & H.C. Kocher (1997-1998) for collecting the data. T-Test and product moment method was used to find the results. The study reveals that girls on an average have high intelligence as compared to boys. On an average the male and female students have similar academic achievement. On an average Science student’s high intelligence than the Humanities students. The correlation between intelligence and academic achievement have come out to be positive and significantly. This shows that higher the intelligence will be higher the academic achievement. The correlations between intelligence and socio-economic status have come out to be non-significant. This means that intelligence and socio-economic status are not correlated with each other.KEY WORD: Intelligence, academic achievement, socio-economic status, gender, Science and Humanities streams, and high intelligence.IKHTISAR: “Studi Perbandingan tentang Kecerdasan dan Prestasi Akademik para Siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas dalam Kaitannya dengan Gender, Jurusan, dan Status Sosial-Ekonomi Mereka”. Dengan kemajuan pengetahuan, dunia menjadi semakin kompetitif. Kualitas kinerja menjadi faktor kunci untuk keberhasilan individu. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk membandingkan kecerdasan dan prestasi akademik dalam kaitannya dengan gender, jurusan, dan status sosial-ekonomi para siswa. Sebanyak 200 siswa laki-laki dan perempuan dari jurusan Sains dan Humaniora diambil sebagai sampel penelitian. Peneliti menggunakan uji kecerdasan dari M.C. Joshi (1956) dan skala status sosial-ekonomi oleh S.D. Kapoor & H.C. Kocher (1997-1998) untuk mengumpulkan data. T-Test dan metode hasil seketika digunakan untuk mendapatkan hasil penelitian. Penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa para siswa perempuan, rata-rata memiliki kecerdasan yang tinggi dibandingkan dengan para siswa laki-laki. Mengenai rata-rata siswa laki-laki dan perempuan memiliki prestasi akademik yang sama. Rata-rata kecerdasan siswa pada ilmu Sains lebih tinggi daripada siswa ilmu Humaniora. Korelasi antara kecerdasan dan prestasi akademik menjadi positif dan signifikan. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi kecerdasan akan menjadi lebih tinggi pula prestasi akademik. Korelasi antara kecerdasan dan status sosial-ekonomi menjadi tidak signifikan. Abstract

IKHTISAR: Pelaburan dalam pendidikan tinggi dan pembangunan modal insan di Malaysia sangat kritikal dalam menzahirkan masyarakat yang memiliki akal budi luhur, berfikiran terbuka, berpandangan jauh, dan mempunyai daya “pasaran kerja” yang tinggi. Pembangunan modal insan, dengan demikian, merupakan agenda utama negara Malaysia, memandangkan pembangunan sesebuah negara adalah berdasarkan pembangunan manusia itu sendiri. Ianya juga tidak terkecuali dalam aspek pendidikan tinggi, kerana peranan pendidikan tinggi dalam konteks pembinaan manusia melibatkan tiga perkara asas, iaitu: (1) Pengukuhan jatidiri sosial yang melibatkan konteks hubungan dengan Pencipta, manusia lain, dan alam sekeliling; (2) Pengisian ilmu dan falsafah hidup; serta (3) Latihan pengkhususan dan kepakaran. Justeru, artikel ini mengupas tentang kepentingan pendidikan dalam pembangunan negara dan senario pembangunan modal insan di IPT (Institusi Pengajian Tinggi) di Malaysia. Antara lain artikel ini mengupas konsep modal insan, pandangan ahli ekonomi tradisional dan moden terhadap pembangunan modal insan, peranan pentadbiran di IPT, dan peruntukan belanjawan negara terhadap modal insan. Aspek-aspek ini dihuraikan dalam artikel dengan tujuan untuk melihat secara menyeluruh senario pembangunan modal insan dalam pembangunan negara.  KATA KUNCI: Pembangunan modal insan, institusi pengajian tinggi, pembangunan sumber manusia, pendidikan, pengurusan, dan pentadbiran.ABSTRACT: “The Scenario of Human Capital Development in Higher Education in Malaysia”. Investment in higher education and human capital development in Malaysia is very critical in producing the society that has had a noble common sense, open-minded, foresight, and the high "employability". Development of human capital, however, is the national main agenda in Malaysia as a country’s development is based on human development itself. It is no exception for higher education, due to the role of higher education in the context of human development involves three basic elements, namely: (1) Strengthening of social identity that involves the context of a relationship with the Creator, other people, and the environment; (2) Filling the knowledge and philosophy of life; and (3) Specialized training and expertise. Therefore, this article examined the importance of education in national development and human capital development scenario in higher education institutions in Malaysia. This article also highlighted the concept of human capital, the view of traditional and modern economists on human capital development, the administrative role in higher education institutions, and the budget allocation for human capital. Abstract

IKHTISAR: Program latihan vokasional masakan dan pendidikan Islam merupakan salah satu usaha oleh Pusat Pemulihan Akhlak Remaja (PPAR) di Malaysia untuk membantu remaja terlanjur memperoleh kemahiran bagi membolehkan mereka bekerja. Walau bagaimanapun, terdapat PPAR di Malaysia yang kurang berkesan melaksanakan program tersebut, kerana tidak mengintegrasikan latihan kemahiran dan pendidikan Islam. Oleh itu, kajian ini dijalankan untuk melihat pelaksanaan program latihan vokasional masakan, pendidikan Islam, dan pengintegrasian latihan vokasional masakan, serta kesan pengintegrasian latihan vokasional masakan dan pendidikan Islam di enam lokasi PPAR di Malaysia. Penyelidikan ini menggunakan kajian deskriptif berbentuk tinjauan dengan menggunakan instrument set borang soal selidik yang melibatkan 158 pelatih sebagai sampel kajian. Melalui analisis skor min dan sisihan piawai, dapatan kajian mendapati bahawa pelatih mempersetujui program pengintegrasian latihan vokasional masakan dan pendidikan Islam dilaksanakan dengan baik dan memberi kesan positif kepada mereka. Kajian ini mencadangkan satu garis panduan yang lengkap dan seragam harus dimurnikan oleh pihak yang terlibat dalam mengaplikasikan program pengintegrasian latihan vokasional masakan dan pendidikan Islam.KATA KUNCI: Latihan vokasional masakan, pendidikan Islam, remaja terlanjur, pengintegrasian, panduan lengkap, dan pelatih.ABSTRACT: “Integrating the Cooking Vocational Training and Islamic Education to Help Unplanned Pregnancies Teens in the Youth Reformatory Centre”. Cooking vocational training programs and Islamic education is one of the efforts by the Youth Reformatory Centre in Malaysia to help unplanned pregnancies teens with the skills that enable them to get work. However, there are a few numbers of Youth Reformatory Centre in Malaysia that failed to run this program, because they are not integrating the Islamic education with the vocational training effectively. Therefore, this study was undertaken to see the implementation of cooking vocational training program, Islamic education, the integration of cooking vocational training, and the effect of the integration in six selected locations in Malaysia. Using descriptive survey and questionnaire as an instrument, this study involving 158 trainees from selected centre. Through the analysis of mean and standard deviation, the trainees agree that the program successfully integrating cooking vocational training with Islamic education which also give them a positive impact. Abstract

IKHTISAR: Pembelajaran dengan metode konvensional merupakan pembelajaran yang umum dilakukan di sekolah-sekolah di Indonesia, mulai dari tingkat SD (Sekolah Dasar), SMP (Sekolah Menengah Pertama), hingga SMA (Sekolah Menengah Atas). Sementara itu, salah satu harapan yang ingin dicapai dalam pembelajaran Matematika di SMP adalah dimilikinya kemampuan berpikir matematis, khususnya berpikir matematis tingkat tinggi. Kemampuan ini sangat diperlukan oleh para siswa, terkait dengan kebutuhan siswa untuk memecahkan masalah yang dihadapinya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Memang diakui bahwa pembelajaran Geometri Lingkaran merupakan salah satu materi yang dianggap sulit oleh sebagian besar siswa SMP. Kesulitan siswa ini dapat berdampak pada sikap mereka terhadap pelajaran Matematika dan munculnya kecemasan Matematika. Sikap Matematika siswa, baik yang positif atau negatif, dapat berpengaruh pada tinggi-rendahnya tingkat kecemasan Matematika. Pengukuran tingkat kecemasan secara psikologis, fisiologis, dan sosial dilakukan untuk mengetahui bagaimana respon siswa selama pembelajaran berlangsung. Selain itu juga, faktor kemandirian siswa dianalisis pengaruhnya pada sikap Matematika dan kecemasan Matematika siswa.KATA KUNCI: Pembelajaran konvensional, Geometri, sikap matematik, kecemasan matematika, siswa sekolah menengah, dan kemandirian siswa.ABSTRACT: “Learning the Circles Geometry with Conventional Methods and its Influence on Students”. The conventional learning was a common learning method in Indonesian schools, in elementary, junior high, and senior high schools. Meantime, one of the hopes to achieve in learning of Mathematics in Junior High School is its ability to think mathematically, in particular high-level mathematical thinking. This capability is required by the students, related to the need of students to solve problems encountered in everyday life. It is recognized that for Junior High School students, learning the circle geometry was considered a difficult subject to be understood well. The students with difficulty understanding should be influence on the student’s attitude and anxiety toward Mathematics. Positive and negative response in mathematical attitude from student had correlation on mathematics anxiety levels. Measuring the level of anxiety in psychological, physiological, and social responses were conducted to determine how the students response during learning in the classroom. Abstract

This journal, with ISSN 2088-1290, was firstly published on June 1, 2011. Since issue of June 2012, the ATIKAN journal has been organized by the Lecturers of FKIP UNSUR (Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, Suryakancana University) in Cianjur, West Java, Indonesia; and published by Minda Masagi Press as one of the publishers owned by ASPENSI (the Association of Indonesian Scholars of History Education) in Bandung. The ATIKAN journal is published twice a year i.e. every June and December.

Abstract

IKHTISAR: Sastera merupakan cakrawala pembuka minat dan bakat seorang anak. Anak, dalam hal ini, merupakan pembaca karya sastera. Dengan menyimak dan membaca karya sastera (puisi, prosa, atau drama), pembaca sebagai penikmat sastera ikut berpetualang ke dunia imajinatif yang tidak terdapat dalam kehidupan nyata dan yang semula tidak terbayangkan. Karya sastera yang hadir tidak akan terlepas dari tujuannya, yaitu untuk pembentukan pribadi dan jatidiri bangsa. Hal ini, tentunya, perlu dipupuk sejak kanak-kanak. Bergaul dengan sastera, anak-anak memperoleh berbagai manfaat serta nilai untuk dirinya sendiri. Sastera memberikan kesenangan, kegembiraan, dan kenikmatan terhadap anak-anak. Nilai seperti inilah yang akan tercapai, manakala sastera dapat memperluas cakrawala anak dengan cara menyajikan pengalaman-pengalaman baru dan wawasan-wawasan baru. Oleh karena itu, anak-anak perlu menemukan kegembiraan dalam buku-buku yang mereka baca atau dengar. Para pembimbing dan orang tua seyogyanyalah harus memupuk dan menumbuhkembangkan apresiasi-baca dan apresiasi-sastera anak-anak. Di dalam karya sastera, pembaca akan menemukan segudang nilai yang dapat diterapkan dalam kehidupan nyata sehari-hari.KATA KUNCI: Sastera anak, karya sastera, imajinatif, horison, nilai sastera, menyimak dan membaca, wawasan dan pengalaman baru, serta jatidiri bangsa.ABSTRACT: “Growing the Literature Value to the Children Education”. Literature is a horizon opener interests and talents of a child. Children, in this case, are a literary reader. By listening and reading literature (poetry, prose, or drama), as a reader of literary lovers come into the world imaginative adventure that does not exist in real life and previously unimaginable. Literary works that would not be present regardless of its purpose, namely for the establishment of personal and national identity. Of course, it needs to be nurtured since childhood. Mingling with the literature, the children gain a variety of benefits and value for himself. Literature gives pleasure, excitement, enjoyment of children. Values such as these will be achieved, when literature can expand the horizons of children by presenting new experiences and new insights. Therefore, children need to find joy in the books they read or hear. The counselors and parents being understood must cultivate and develop the appreciation and the appreciation read childrens literature.
