Abstract

This study aims to determine the public opinion of the city of Medan against the simultaneous election of the president and legislators in 2019 using quantitative research methods. In determining the sample, the researcher used a probability sampling method, then the sampling technique was a proportional stratified sample. The sample size uses the Slovin formula about determining the number of samples from a particular population with a 5% error requirement. The subject of this study involved the people of Medan city who have been registered as permanent voters in the upcoming elections in 2019. This study uses correlational analysis of data analysis techniques. Correlational analysis is statistical analysis that seeks to find relationships or influences between two or more variables. The conclusion of this study found that around 95.25% of respondents knew that the 2019 elections would be held simultaneously while electing the president and legislature. And 77.50% of respondents agreed to the implementation of presidential and legislative elections carried out simultaneously. Keywords: Public Opinion, Elections, President and Legislature

Abstract

This study analyzed of management online media conducted by Yogyakarta Jogokariyan Mosque for building and fostering a communication with da'wah activists in 2017. The research method used was descriptive qualitative, and data collection techniques through interviews and document data. The results of this research that management of online media in Yogyakarta Jogokariyan Mosque does not plan regularly and systematically but is more flexible and incidental. The platform media that is most widely used to promote and build communication networks with da'wah activists is Facebook and Instagram by basing it on the intended target audience and effectiveness level. To evaluate how to use the online media of the Jogokariyan Mosque, they carried out media monitoring on the response of the audience both who followed, like, share and commented.

Abstract

One of the ethnic groups in Indonesia who has special uniqueness in terms of their wedding customs is ethnic Madurese. In this study, research to supplement the consultation process of Madura marriage. This study uses qualitative methods by applying the sociocultural tradition. The technique of collecting data used is interview techniques and literature studies. The results of the study showed that the Madurese community still practiced matchmaking. Early marriage and security in the Madurese community begins with matchmaking and occurs due to certain factors such as increasing status and maintaining honor. Because second marriage begins with matchmaking, the communication process is related to the theory of social penetration, while communication between individuals moves to more intimate communication. In this case, non-verbal communication can be found in the wedding attire and tradition. This tradition includes pre-marriage, reception to post-marriage. In the communication process of Madurese ethnic, religious people has a significant role, from being the wedding planner to being the headman, depending on the tradition of the village. Keywords: Madura Ethnicity, Communication Process, Customary Marriage

Abstract

Smartphones make widely opportunity for us to practice the science of journalism. Anyone can cover and then spread the news. Through various social media applications,  everyone can become a reporter, deliver news to friends, spread it, and then share the news to everyone. The results of research on smartphone utilization in improving journalistic skills to 40 students of SMA Negeri 4 Medan  and 36 student of SMA Kartika I-2 Medan, the pre test showed, 95% of 10th grade students is a smartphone user with a usage period of 3 to 5 years. Because of that the students are used to taking photos and making videos with their smart phones. But its naturally is only for personal consumption and technically, the results are not good for journalistic activities. But after being given journalistic introduction training by using a smartphone, for 2 days, the post test results showed an increase in students' knowledge, about techniques for taking photos and videos of humans, objects and other moving objects, for journalistic purposes. In addition, students also recognize the existence of Citizen Journalism, citizen journalism. Key Word: Smartphone, Journalism, Students

Abstract

Citizen journalism or to journalists residents in indonesia is relatively new citizen journalism can report a lot of things important quickly before conventional media reported a similar story. A medium that most often used citizen journalism that is social media. Medan talk is one of instagram account who became a container work citizen journalism or contribution of the community that is shaped siber media. This study attempts to mendiskripsikan participation of the community towards instagram account medan talk as one of citizen journalism account in medan. This the kind of research quantitative descriptive uses the method, the size of the population 483 and sample 83 people. The withdrawal of technique sample with simple as using random sampling with using analysis single table.  The results of research conducted in variable x by an indicator of how the time it takes to trust the contents of the message to post news medan talk aalah most dominant with the percentage of 30.2 % , in variable y with the indicators happy to talk to be a place for learning lessons be journalists residents most dominant 61.4 from % with the percentage of as much as. Key Word: Citizen journalism , medan talk , participation

Abstract

This study explains about a minority representation of people with blind disability in Indonesia by using a documentary movie entitled ‘The Unseen Words'. Simply, the awareness of the disabled people is basically, these disable people are including the people who have the same equality with others. However, in reality, these disability people are still far from equality even they became objects of alienation and discrimination. The method used to analyze this movie was semiotic analysis with Roland Barthes approach. This study found some results as follows: Firstly, the minority representation of people with blind disability was portrayed as the people who lived in the circle of poverty and alienation, secondly, the minority representation of these blind people was portrayed as a discrimination object, thirdly the minority representation of these blind people was portrayed as objects who were not concerned about accessibility and public services, and lastly, the minority representation of these blind people was also portrayed as a symbol of suffering. Abstract

The development of technology and communication currently building all these things can be easily access including culture .The process of social and cultural occurring in the information revolution has become a fascinating subjects of the principle of social science for a long time .Is related to the process is a process komodifkasi cultural values change to become a value exchange .Komodifikasi cultural change culture so as to be a popular culture is very interesting .Researchers took survey areas in the community one piece id .The kind of research taken qualitative researchers is descriptive. The research data collection are, interview process observation and, documentation. Based on the research done, the anime komodifikasi as popular culture is in one piece id field community has been very good.Besides, the reciprocal existence in of the communication and the culture that emerged in communities with anime develop a community one piece id be the space for their fans anime one piece in exchanging information and spreading the culture so that people can receive the cultural. Key Word: Komodifikasi, Anime, Popular Culture
