Abstract

Tinea pedis atau yang lebih dikenal dengan kutu air adalah penyakit akibat infeksi jamur dermatofita yang mengenai kulit pada jari-jari kaki, telapak kaki, dan bagian lateral kaki.Penyebab penyakit ini adalah seluruh genus dermatofita terutama Trichophyton rubrum, dan Trichophyton mentagrophytes.Namun penyebab tersering yaitu, Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, dan Trichophyton epidermophyton floccosum.Penyakit ini merupakan penyakit infeksi dermatofita yang sering terjadi (FKUI, 2008).Kelainan mengenai kulit diantara jari-jari kaki, terutama antara jari ke 3-4 dan ke 4-5, telapak kaki dan bagian lateral kaki.Faktor predisposisi berupa kaki yang selalu basah, baik oleh air (tukang cuci), maupun oleh keringat (sepatu tertutup dan memakai kaos kaki) dengan waktu yang lama.(FKUI, 2008).

Abstract

Abstract Background: Guava plants (Psidium guajava Linn) are found throughout Indonesia. The leaves contain tannins that can be exploited as antibacterial and antifungal. The presence of fungi and bacteria in the oral cavity can be a problem in oral and dental health.The purpose of this research is to know the infusa of guava leaf  10%, 20% to decrease the number of oral germs as wellMethods: The experimental study used 30 primary school children divided into 3 groups. Group 1 was taken saliva sample before and after gargle with 10% guava leaf infusa. Group 2 was taken saliva sample before and after rinsing with 20% guava leaf infusion, and for group 3 with brand X mouthwash. Saliva samples taken before and after rinsing with all three ingredients were then examined using the Total Plate Count method.The results showed that the numbers of germs before and after rinsing with 10% and 20% casque seed infections were significantly different (sig 0.001 and 0.000). The average difference between the 10% infusa and the X brand drug shows an un-coercive difference (sig 0.947).Conclusion Guava leaves infution 10% and 20% can decrease the number of oral germs. Both concentrations of guava leaf infution compared with X brand mouthwash have no significant difference in reducing germ numbers.     Keywords:  guava leaf infution, number of germs, oral cavity

Abstract

Abstract Background Moringa oleifera is a plant that all parts can be used for medicinal purposes. Roots, flowers, bark, stems, leaves and seeds of Moringa has antimicrobial properties. Compound content in leaves of moringa, such as tannin,steroid, alkaloid, saponins ,and flavonoids . ObjectiveThe purpose of this research was to know the different of Trichophyton mentagrophytes growth on various leaves of moringa (Moringa oleifera) concentration extract. Methods This research uses a true experimental with post test only kontrol group design. The antifungal activity test use diffusion disk method, these were divided into four test group with concentration 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% and two kontrol group were positive kontrol (ketokonazole 2%) and negatif kontrol (sterile distilled water). The result of this study showed that the average diameter of inhibition zone of concentration 25% until 100% is 0 mm. Statistic analysis was done by using Kolmogorof Smirnov test and Kruskal Wallis test. The test showed there was not a significant mean difference between group. All consentration haven’t an effect on Trichophyton mentagrophytes growth inhibition zone diameter. For next research with same topics using pure extract leaves of moringa was recommended. Abstract

Background: Resistance is defined as growth inhibition of bacteria with antibiotics. Staphylococcus aureus bacteria is known to be resistant to gentamicin and methicillin. Staphylococcus aureus can cause various infection of the skin, injuries, and system. Methods: This research is true-experimental with Posttest-Only Control Group Design and using Kirby-Bauer method by means of five concentration (20, 40, 60, 80, dan 100%). The negative control uses sterile distilled water, and the positive control uses Vancomycin 30 µg. Result: This research showed the mean of inhibition zone diameter of each concentration consecutively 16 mm, 20 mm, 22 mm, 23 mm, and 23 mm. Oneway ANOVA statistic analysis showed that the value of p is 0,000 that mean there is an influence of encok roots extract to Staphylococcus aureus growth. Conclusion: There is an influence of encok roots extract to Staphylococcus aureus growth. Seen from its ability to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus.

Abstract

Medium pertumbuhan yang umum digunakan untuk kapang adalah Potato Dextrose Agar. Tujuan penelitian adalah menganalisa pengaruh penggunaan air cucian beras dalam beberapa konsentrasi sebagai salah satu komponen medium terhadap pertumbuhan koloni Aspergillus niger, (2) menentukan konsentrasi air cucian beras yang berpengaruh paling baik terhadap pertumbuhan koloni Aspergillus niger. Parameter pertumbuhan koloni yang diamati adalah diameter koloni dan diameter conidial head. Taraf konsentrasi air cucian beras yang diujikan adalah 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, dan 100% yang dilarutkan bersama dengan agar dan dextrose. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan adanya pengaruh penggunaan air cucian beras terhadap pertumbuhan Aspergillus niger. Koloni Aspergillus niger yang tumbuh pada medium air cucian beras dengan konsentrasi 50% sampai dengan 100% menunjukkan diameter koloni lebih besar daripada diameter koloni yang tumbuh pada medium PDA. Ukuran diameter conidial head dari sel yang tumbuh pada konsentrasi 80% sampai dengan 100% menunjukkan lebih besar dari ukuran diameter conidial head dari sel yang tumbuh pada medium PDA Konsentrasi air cucian beras yang menunjukkan pengaruh paling baik terhadap pertumbuhan koloni Aspergillus niger adalah konsentrasi 100%.

Abstract

AbstractBackground: Infection by the Candida albicans has increased globally and reported fungal resistance to synthetic antifungal. It is, therefore, necessary to develop effective antifungal medicines for the treatment of infection by Candida albicans. This study aims to determine the content of phytochemical and inhibitory power of pomegranate skin extract on Candida albicans growth. Methode: This research type is the true experiment with post test only control design. The method used for the phytochemical test is qualitative tube method. Pomegranate skin resistivity test on Candida albicans growth was done by disc diffusion method. The pomegranate skin is tested at concentrations of 100%, 75%, 50%, 25% and 10%. Negative control with 96% alcohol and positive control using ketocenazole 2%. Result: The results of phytochemical tests showed pomegranate skin extract containing saponins, tannins, and flavonoids. Pomegranate skin extracts are not able to inhibit the growth of Candida albicans by disc diffusion method.Conclusion:The conclusion of this study is pomegranate skin extracts can not inhibit Candida albicans growth, For other researchers which use jatropha curcas twigs, are suggested to do a phytochemical test quantitatively and to test the antifungal potential with liquid DMSO 10%, kloroform and petroleum eter..Keywords:Potential antifungal, pomegranate skin extract, Candida albicans

Abstract

The kidneys are responsible for filtering waste from the body such as urea, uric acid, and creatinine. When these organs stop functioning properly, waste builds up to high levels in the blood. In patients with kidney failure are usually equipped with a blood chemistry that urea and serum creatinine as an amplifier diagnosis of the patient's illness. CKD is the progressive loss of function of kidney and patient requires a long treatment in the form of renal replacement therapy. Hemodialysis is one of the renal replacement therapy, during waste products of the body are removed. Patients with kidney failure are associated with increased levels of some biochemical parameters. In several studies, urea and creatinine serum of CKD patients pre-dialysis revealed abnormal levels and indicated hyperuremic. Therefore, this study was aimed to analyzed urea and creatinine serum in CKD patient undergoing hemodialysis in Sanjiwani Hospital. A description study, used purposive sampling methods, involving 30 patients with CKD undergoing hemodialysis. Blood samples were analyzed for urea and creatinin level. Data are presented as table. Results of this study showed that all samples (100%) had serum urea and creatinine levels high or exceed the normal limits. While of urea/creatinine levels as many as 20 patients (66,7%) had low ratio, 7 patients (23,3%) had a normal ratio, and 3 patients (10%) have a high ratio, so that it can be concluded that all patients had hyperuremic. Abstract

Abstract Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a group of metabolic diseases with characteristic hyperglycemia that happen by abnormal secretions of insulin, insulin action, or both. The condition of insulin resistance in DM type 2 cause abnormal lipid metabolism that indicated by increase or decrease levels of lipid fraction in plasma, include increase levels of Very Low Density Lipoprotein (VLDL) or triglycerides, decrease levels of High Density Lipoprotein (HDL), and formed small dense Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL). The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the fasting blood sugar levels with HDL cholesterol levels in patients with DM type 2. The method use an analytical study with cross sectional design. Sampling examined as many as 35 samples by purposive sampling. The relationship between fasting blood sugar levels with HDL cholesterol levels is analyzed by Pearson Product Moment Correlation test. Abstract

Tuberkulosis adalah penyakit infeksi akibat kuman Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pengobatan tuberkulosis dengan obat anti tuberkulosis (OAT) mempunyai efek toksik diantaranya terhadap efek samping reaksi hematologik seperti anemia, agranulositosis, eosinofilia dan trombositopenia. Hitung retikulosit pada pasien tanpa anemia berkisar antara 1-2%. Jumlah ini penting karena dapat digunakan sebagai indikator produktivitas dan aktivitas eritropoesis di sumsum tulang dan membantu untuk menentukan klasifikasi anemia sebagai hiperproliferatif, normoproliferatif atau hipoproliferatif. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif, sampel penelitian ini adalah pasien tuberkulosis paru yang sedang menjalani pengobatan OAT diambil secara accidental sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan18 sampel jumlah retikulosit pasien yang mengkonsumsi Obat Anti Tuberkulosis (OAT) di Puskesmas Perumnas Kadia Kota Kendari di peroleh nilai retikulosit normal sebanyak 2 orang (11%) dan yang tidak normal sebanyak 16 orang (89%).

Abstract

AbstractBackground Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) was a condition of glucose intolerance that occur during pregnancy detected by examining blood glucose levels. Objective This study aims to measure fasting blood glucose levels at the second and third trimesters pregnant women in  Puskesmas I Denpasar Selatan-based on certain characteristics. Methods The type of this study is descriptive and using simple random sampling technique. Samples in this study amounted to 33 women. Blood glucose levels measured by venous blood samples with hexokinase method. Result The study results obtained 28 women (84,85%) in the not risk of GDM category and five women (15,15%) in the risk of GDM category. High blood glucose levels obtained four women (12,12%) in the category 25 years and one women (3,03%) in the category 25, on the characteristics of the gestational age obtain two women (6,06%) in the second trimester and three women (9,09%) in the third trimester, on the characteristics of DM in the family obtained one women (3,03%) with a history of DM.Conclusion  The conclusion of this research obtained fasting blood glucose level in trimester II and III pregnant women at Puskesmas I Denpasar Selatan ranged between 66 - 120 mg/dL. Keywords: blood glucose, pregnant women, gestational diabetes
