Analysis of Amnesty International Success in Enforcing Human Rights in Deep South reza adam

Abstract

This study aims to understand the reasons why Amnesty International succeeded in enforcing human rights in the Deep South of Thailand's conflict. The Deep South conflict of Thailand has its roots in historic problems, since the annexation of the Patani Kingdom by the Siamese kingdom, which is now Thailand's state. Conflict which initially emerged as inter-ethnic conflict of Malay and Thai slowly transitioned into inter-Religion, Islam and Buddhism. The Deep South community as a Muslim identity feels discrimination by the Thai government as a Buddhist identity. On this issue, the Deep South people made a resistance movement to defend them against discrimination. The Thai government regards the movement as a separatist movement that means rebellion. To stem the resistance, the Thai government, then, formulated a series of laws that facilitate its tools to commit human rights abuses such as torture and detention, when the Deep South community as a local people has no access or influence to the Thai authorities. In view of these conditions, Amnesty International as an International Human Rights organization makes a successful effort to enforce human rights in the conflict. Using the Transnational Advocacy Network concept, this study explains the successes of Amnesty International. The approach used is Leverage Politics and Accountability Politics to be able to understand the successes made by Amnesty International. Both approaches are used in analyzing the success of Amnesty International in forming advocacy networks, influencing powerful actors, and pressuring the Thai government through advocacy networks. This research applies Qualitative Method, with data collection through Library Research. In this study it will also be discussed slightly about the Islamic Worldview of human rights. The researcher hoped that both state and non-state actors can understand the success of Amnesty International's role, similar steps in international dynamics, and be a reference for academics to develop this research.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the developing countries. Thus the government of Indonesia should strive in advancing the Indonesian economy. One of the Indonesian Government's strategies in advancing the Indonesian economy is the distribution of Indonesian Migrant Workers abroad. The national agency which assigned to the placement of Indonesian workers is BNP2TKI. With many problems against Indonesian Migrant Workers in Saudi Arabia, Indonesian Government makes the policy to the distribution of Indonesian Migrant Workers in the form decree of the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic Indonesia Number 260 in 2015. The Minister of Manpower policy is the Moratorium of Indonesian Migrant Workers to the Middle East Region, especially Saudi Arabia. The role of the Indonesian Government towards Indonesian Migrant Workers is to provide protection and fulfill their rights as citizens so that the distribution of individual Indonesian workers is banned. It aims to keep Indonesian citizens working abroad and fulfillment of the right to Indonesian Migrant Workers. Theory of Legal Protection relates to laws governing the protection of Indonesian workers abroad in accordance with Indonesian law, while the concept of human rights relates to the rights that Indonesian Workers are getting which is correlated with ad-dhuriyat or the fulfillment of rights in Islam. The role of the Indonesian government is important to the protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers, BNP2TKI as a National Institution in charge of protecting Indonesian Migrant Workers abroad have policies to Indonesian Migrant Workers abroad, the policies regulated by the Indonesian manpower minister are then developed by BNP2TKI in making policies against Indonesian Migrant Workers in Saudi Arabia, the policies are undertaken by BNP2TKI, there is no distribution of Indonesian individual Migrant Workers in Saudi Arabia in accordance with the provisions of the Minister of Manpower, the Indonesian Formal Migrant Workers can still be distributed except for women's cleaning service,. Government efforts in the protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers in Saudi Arabia are effective and will be more effective if the Indonesian government makes agreements with recipient countries of the Indonesian Migrant Workers on the protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers.

Abstract

This research aimed for revealing the role of halal tourism in West Nusa Tenggara as one form of Indonesian public diplomacies for increasing the number of foreign tourists which directly affects the increase of income of Indonesian foreign exchange. This research is built through two approaches: the concept of public diplomacy and the concept of national interest. This research uses qualitative method that consists of interview, literature review and observation which is related to the topic to answer the problem formulation. Technique of data analysis used in qualitative research includes transcripts of interview result, data reduction, data analysis and interpretation. Employing the concept of public diplomacy, this research can reveal the role of halal tourism in West Nusa Tenggara as a form of Indonesian diplomacy on the increase of foreign tourists. Meanwhile, using the concept of national interest, it can explain the influence of halal tourism in West Nusa Tenggara on the economic goals of Indonesia. The suggestion of this research is, the Tourism Government of West Nusa Tenggara should manage and exploit the potential of Halal tourism in West Nusa Tenggara more intensively in order to achieve better results.Keywords: halal tourism, West Nusa Tenggara, public diplomacy, economic interest

Abstract

This study aims to explain the Free Trade ASEAN-India cooperation or better known as AIFTA and its impact on Indonesian coffee exports. Specifically this study aims to find out how the impact of ASEAN-India Free Trade Area on Indonesian domestic industry, especially coffee industry. To get the results as mentioned above, the author uses the concept of free trade and the concept of trade in Islam. The Free Trade Concept will analyze how AIFTA's free trade flows have a major impact on Indonesia's coffee export-import cooperation with India. While the concept of trade views in Islam is only limited to how the view of Islam to a relationship of trade between countries. The data analysis techniques using qualitative techniques. The research method that writer use is descriptive research type which aims to know the development and describe in detail a certain social phenomenon. Technique of collecting data is done by literature study which sourced from valid book, journal, document, and website. The results of this study indicate that the enactment of AIFTA, an increase in the export volume of Indonesian coffee to India which has increased and increased. Increased exports can not be separated from the increasing demand for coffee, especially from India, which is the country's main importer of Indonesian coffee. The increase in demand is influenced by the decline in import duties to India post AIFTA. Based on the results of this study, this study can conclude that the implementation of free trade agreement between ASEAN and India brings many positive effects for cooperation between Indonesia and India. The development of research and development of the coffee industry is a good suggestion to improve the performance of the Indonesian coffee industry in competing on the AIFTA framework. Keywords : AIFTA, Export-Import, Industri Kopi, Indonesia, India

Abstract

Indonesia and Australia are unique neighbors where they have some differences in terms of geographical, linguistic, religious, and racial. Having striking differences, they often leads to misperception which ultimately affects the ups and downs of bilateral relations between the two countries. Young Musician Program as a mean of cultural exchange of Indonesia and Australia has several functions. The implementation of diplomacy through culture is as an effort to improve the image of the nation abroad to achieve the national interest. On the other hand, cross-cultural communication is essential to achieving mutual understanding and mutually beneficial cooperation and building harmonious international relations. Based on Islamic diplomacy, cooperation between countries is carried out by prioritizing equality, equity, and justice in order to minimize the occurrence of conflict. Yogyakarta as one of the cities in Indonesia with great cultural potential needs to be developed better,so it can support the diplomacy process to achieve national interest.Keywords: Young Musician Program, Culture, Cooperation.

as. Abstract  The role of MNCs in the current of international political process should not be underestimated, since it has a very decisive role in the new development is characterized by the emergence of non-state actors who play a vital role in the economy of engagement across borders. ExxonMobil is one of the US-owned MNCs based energy engaged in the oil and gas, which are implisist is discussed in this study. The energy sector as oil and gas operations of the most fertile land for the MNCs, because oil and gas were the sectors most determine the course of the world economy. should be know that ExxonMobil conducts exploration in the Spratly Islands which as a region of strategic and rich in natural resources. Along with the abundant wealth of natural resources such as oil and gas in the Spratly Islands, have an impact on neighboring countries, where they want to exploit energy resources in the Spratlys to support the country's economy. The methodology used in this study is an analytical deductive method, That means research that has a purpose to provide an explanation of the reality on the object studied in an objective and comprehensive. This study is also based on an Islamic worldview. While the data collection methods used by library research, is to find a variety of information, news analysis, concepts of the ideas of experts published in books, journals, articles, internet, and print media relating to the theme. However, ExxonMobil should not miss its opportunity to explore in the Spratly, because  by doing the exploration, Exxonmobil can get the profit as much as possible and can build its image by expantion to the Spratly region. Keywords : MNCs, ExxonMobil, Spratly, Oil and Gas.

Abstract

Abstract The European crisis emerged in 2008 and got worse in 2009. Triggers the onset of European crisis is because Greece has defaulted on debt. The Government of Greece that is already too much owed finally dragged the countries in the European Union into a terrible crisis. Turkey, as one of the country's largest trading partner Europe also dragged into crisis in Europe. That impact affected  the economic growth of Turkey which previously showed positive growth. The resolving crisis done Turkey have in common with the way the Prophet in the developing economy of Medina when the early Muslims doing Hijra from Makkah to Medina in the year 622-623. The author tried to compare the strategies of Prophet and Turkey in tackling the impact of the crisis and build the economy of the country so as to successfully compete in the global market. The purpose of this research is to provide an overview of knowledge how Turkey to cope with the impact of the European economic crisis  and became one of the countries with good economic growth in the future compared with the strategies of Prophet in building the economy of Medina. This research using the method of comparative analysis in comparing Turkey's strategy in tackling the crisis and strategies of Prophet in the developing economy of Medina. While the data collection method used is by way of a research library (library research). Library Research is looking for a wide range of information, news analysis, concepts of experts thought the result embodied in books, journals, articles, internet, print-related themes. Research results based on research libraries prove that the strategy that carried Turkey to cope with the impact of the economic crisis in Europe have in common with the strategies of Prophet Muhammad in building the economy of Medina. By utilizing natural resources, building new markets and do political contracts with neighboring countries and played an important role in regional politics and make useful of the strategic location of the country, Turkey managed to cope with the impact of the European crisis and this strategy into solutions that are able to bring Turkey to the brink of success in building the economy of the country. Key Words: European Crisis, Turkey’s Economy, Strategy of Rasulullah, Comparative Study

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims at explaining the effectiveness of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's defense strategy in 2009-2014 to encounter international security threats especially in the rise of China. The defense strategy built by SBY is caused by the dynamism of international security which continues to grow. The condition can threaten the sovereignty of every country and disturb the stability of international security. This research is written down based on two concepts offered; those are national interest and balance of power. This study implements qualitative method that uses literature study of several books and journals. The technique of analyzing the data used in this research is inductive techniques. Study of literacy, journals, and some books are used in data collection to collect data for SBY defense effectiveness. The finding of this research shows that the strategy used by SBY to encounter international security threats are: (1) applying active free politic in foreign policy to establish defense cooperation; (2) designing MEF to meet the standard budget in building Indonesian military strength; (3) employing free from one block when any countries deal with conflict; and (4) maintaining peace and defending the sovereignty of citizens from external threats in accordance with Islam. It is not necessary to prioritize the group interests to determine the policy of defense strategy if the strategy designed by SBY has already given an impact on its effectiveness to safeguard the sovereignty of Indonesia. The author uses an inductive approach to analyze data. By collecting data or descripting relevant as well as from reliable sources with the ultimate goal of generalizing. Abstract              This paper aims to analyze the dynamics of internet-based multinational companies in China with a special focus on the discussion of the factors behind the closure of Yahoo! Inc.’s business operations in China by 2015. In order to answer this research question, this paper uses a qualitative method based on literature study as a research method. Based on the theoretical approach offered by obsolescing bargain theory and Porter's five forces model, this research conclude that the Yahoo! Inc.’s withdrawal from the Chinese market due to the accumulation of the increasingly stringent Chinese Government regulation on the internet and the increasingly competitive domestic internet industry. Strict regulation is representation of the "shift of bargaining advantage" while market competitiveness is evidence of Yahoo! Abstract

AbstractThis research aims at revealing the tourism potentials of Southeast Celebes as Indonesian public diplomacy to face Asean Economic Community. Indonesia is one of Asean countries that contributes to economic integration mentioned by Asean Economic Community. Asean Economic Community is free trade or single market activity among Asean countries that was agreed with goals to develop the economics of Asean countries. one of the Asean Economic Community vision is to make single tourism of Southeast Asian, and to improve the competitiveness the economy of Asean Countries. Therefore, each country of Asean must prepare themselves, to become a target market of another country. As the biggest one of maritime nation, Indonesia has many beautiful places for tourism and one of the best tourism is located in Southeast Celebes province. This province shows their potentials of tourism with the increase of tourist numbers every year. Moreover, Southeast Celebes is one of the ten priorities of Indonesian tourism destination. Therefore, Southeast Celebes tourism is able to become one of a mainstay to face Asean Economic Community. This research uses the qualitative methodology. The data were collected with observation, collecting, finding, library research and interpreting as technique of collecting data. The technique of data analysis uses descriptive analysis method. This research is based on Islamic worldview. The objective of the research is to analyze how the role of Southeast Celebes Tourism as an Indonesian Public Diplomacy in influencing public opinion toward national interest to face Asean Economic Community. Southeast Celebes potentials are able to be soft power asset of Indonesian public diplomacy. These potentials succeed in public diplomacy, and many foreigners are engaged in visiting to Southeast Celebes, and the visitors increase every year.
