<![CDATA[This study deals with the improvement of students’ motivation in learning English through cooperative learning strategy assisted by attractive media. This study was conducted at SD Muhammadiyah 2 Medan, which located on Jl. Mustafa. No.1, Glugur Darat I, Medan Timur. The subject of the study is the grade six of 2019/2020 academic year. Classroom action research is applied in this study consist of two cycles, in which each cycle consists of four stages; planning, action, observation, and reflection. The data are obtained from both of observation and test. The qualitative data is analyzed through Miles and Huberman approach, while quantitative data is figured out through the formula . The result denotes that there are only 21 out of 43 students achieve 75 and over in cycle 1, whereas in cycle 2 there is significantly increasing number of students passing 75 and over with 43 students or 100%. In addition, learning activities become more active and creative. It is inferred that there was significant improvement on students’ motivation in learning English through cooperative learning strategy.]]>

<![CDATA[Learning English language is much demanded and crucial for EFL students. Students are supposed to be able to prove their language skills through language proficiency test. TOEIC is one of the language proficiency tests that mostly EFL students especially vocational high school students need to learn and master it. However, the students often encounter some difficulties in conducting the TOEIC test. Improving students’ comprehension about practicing the TOEIC test highly requires a good strategy. TOEIC practice class is considered to be one of appropriate approaches to be applied to encourage the students’ comprehension. The purpose of the research is to investigate comprehensively whether there is any significant improvement of practicing TOEIC strategy on the students’ listening comprehension of the twelfth grade students. This research applied descriptive qualitative approach that engages one group participated by 30 students of twelfth grade of SMK Kesehatan Husada Pratama. It can be seen that there was such significant improvements of practicing TOEIC strategy on the students’ listening comprehension of the twelfth grade at SMK Kesehatan Husada Pratama academic year 2019/2020. ]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this paper is to describe EFL learners’ experiences while using infographics in a reading class. The pedagogical intervention, based on the use of infographic application (Canva) as an alternative tool to help them summarize reading passages, was implemented to enhance their reading comprehension. The data were gathered from teacher’s journal, questionnaires and the results of students’ reading comprehension tests. The findings revealed that the students viewed the use of infographics could motivate and enabled them to summarize the assigned reading topics much easier. In addition, the assignments incorporating the use of infographic application encouraged them to participate actively in English reading activities in a collaborative atmosphere, allow them to develop their creativity and raise positive attitudes toward the role of technological tools in educational settings.Keywords: English reading, infographics, reading comprehension]]>

<![CDATA[In this modern-day, many women have a suitable carrier; however, they often have seemed like a weak person. One of their weaknesses that often shown is the unableness of how to make any decision. These things often happen in real life and stated in the literature, especially in short stories. The Anatomy by Padrika Tarrant and the Otobiografi Gloria by AS Laksana are literary works that are containing the identity conflict of the symbolic domination discourse. The research purpose is to analyze the identity conflict of the symbolic domination discourse in these short stories. The method of this research is using the qualitative descriptive because the subjects are short stories. The result of this research has shown the two main characters of these short stories, which dominated on symbolic and they live in the marginal as the women who have an identity. The conclusion of this research has drawn that women in this modern era still dominated on symbolic and as a weak person.]]>

<![CDATA[ Abstract Using a qualitative research methodology, this study is expected to answer on how students’ responses toward distance learning during the pandemic (Covid-19). Moreover, this study also provided factual data, suggestions and advices on how distance learning implemented. A qualitative research methodology was applied to 30 students of University of Muhammadiyah (UMT) Tangerang after 14 meeting of distance learning using Google Classroom. Questionnaires were distributed online to see how students’ responses toward a distance learning. The findings proved that there were significant impacts to the students’ learning performance such as computation skills, autonomous learner and critical learner. Besides, negative impact arose due to connectivity, compatible devices, basic skill of computation and also student-teacher communication. <![CDATA[This research is a report of Nation Character Education which has a purpose as an Effort to Build Religious Character. The author will try to overcome the moral degradation that occurs in students such as bullying, free promiscuity, rah-rah, hedonism by internalizing Asmaul Husna's values into reading courses by developing the learning of authentic reading materials. From here, religious character education will begin to be built.The results of the research include several things. The most important result is a product called a reading textbook that has been internalized with Asmaul Husna's values. This book is the development of authentic reading materials adapted to the syllabus in the reading course being taken by students of the English Education program especially the students of third Semester.The research methodology used in this research is Research and Development (R & D) which will be elaborated qualitatively. After conducted this research, it showed that the book product of authentic reading materials which had been internalized with Asmaul Husna was an effective way to build the students’ character as the effort to overcome the students’ moral degradation. 85% showed that students have a significant increase in their reading ability and also students continue to display increasingly improved behaviors after learning the Asmaul Husna values in their reading textbook.
