Abstract

Disciplining preschool-aged children is pivotal since it helps parents to introduce rules and basis to face challenges in life. Students in RA Baiturrahman Tasikmalaya tend to exhibit a discipline attitude. The present study aimed to investigate how students’ parents and children applied discipline character. To this end, a qualitative descriptive method was applied. The participants of the study were recruited using proportional sampling technique. The data were collected through observation and interviews. The obtained data were analyzed. The data analysis process includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing of conclusion.  The result of the study revealed that parents and teachers implemented conditioning and modeling to internalize the character. In the school setting, teacher internalize the character based on Islamic values in a structured manner.

Abstract

Distance learning (PJJ) is an alternative to learning during the Covid 19 pandemic. This article aims to find out PJJ in early childhood education in Jayapura, Papua Province. The research method used is descriptive qualitative by taking data from six early childhood education institutions in Jayapura, Papua. The results of this study indicate that the form of distance learning in early childhood education in Jayapura is by submitting children's worksheets every week, using the Zoom meeting application, using the Whatsapp application, and home visits. The results obtained from this study can be used as information about distance learning in PAUD in Jayapura and can be used as an evaluation of the implementation of PJJ for the government and PAUD institutions in order to manage the education system in Indonesia more effectively, efficiently, and optimally.

Abstract

Islamic education in the family is an effort to form a professional personality. Nasyiatul Aisyiyah (Nasyiah) family was chosen to be the research subject because it has a mission to strengthen family resilience. For Nasyiah, family resilience is the main foundation to form the prophetic character of Early Childhood. The purpose of the study is to analyze the effect of the implementation of Islamic education in the family on the prophetic character of early childhood. This research method uses quantitative research. The data collection process used a google form questionnaire addressed to Nasyiatul Aisyiyah cadres in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) with a total of 113 subjects. The data were analyzed using SPSS 26 and used simple linear regression. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of Islamic education has a positive effect on prophetic characters with a total effect of 42.1%. The novelty of the research lies in the prophetic character of children which has never been discussed before in the early childhood care process in the Nasyiatul Aisyiyah environment. This study provides literacy to the community that increasing the implementation of Islamic education in the family will affect the improvement of prophetic character in early childhood. Early childhood who already have a prophetic character will improve leadership in the future.

Abstract

Listening skill represents a child’s ability to listen, interpret, understand, and respond to information. The present study aims to find out the effect of pop-up book on listening skills of 5-6 years old kindergarten students in Serang District, Serang City, Banten. To this end, 30 kindergarten teachers in Serang District were recruited to participate in this quantitative survey study. This study found a significant effect of pop-up book on listening skills of children aged 5-6 years old. The significant effect of the pop-up book may be accounted for by its attractive visualization and color, drawing children's attention to understand the story more easily and motivating them to read autonomously. The correlation coefficient of 0.773 indicated a strong relationship between the two variables. In other words, pop-up book in this study positively affect children's listening skill. As the probability score shows s significance level of 0.000 (<0.05), the effect of pop-up book on children's listening skill was deemed significant.

Abstract

Furniture is inseparable from almost all human activities. It is used by individuals of all ages, both adults and children. However, the childhood period is a vulnerable period and hence requires protection. This study mainly aims to design safe, comfortable, fun, and aesthetic furniture for preschool children. This applied research aims to deliver a design through design concept, idea, and drawing stages. The concept was developed based on textual and visual data sources. The data were analyzed using interactive analysis techniques, including data reduction, data display, and data verification. The design process was carried out through the idea stage, alternative sketching stage, sketch selection stage, work drawing, and 3D drawings. The designed furnikids products include soft-furnished racks, tables, and chairs specifically designed for children. A Soft-finishing technique was applied to coat the product using foam and cloth to deliver a soft surface. The product was designed using various animal motifs, aiming to serve as media for introducing colors and animal shapes to children, in addition to serving as play equipment.
