<![CDATA[The spiritual heritage of the nation of Indonesia is preserved on a variety of literary works, both native Indonesia values as well as values that come from outside, including the values of Islam. The arrival of Islam enriches the literary treasure in Java. At the moment it appears that works bersumberkan Islam. Among literary works such as the Javanese Islam Serat Patimah containing the advice of Prophet Muhammad to his daughter. In the text that a wife must respect her husband, loving husband, always serve the husband, and according to her husband. <![CDATA[This study aims to explain the pattern of language selection in speech acts between Indonesian language and mother tongue of migrants; Explaining the migration process of migrant language; Identify and explain the pattern of migrant language shift in Semarang City; and explains the contributing factors of shifting and maintaining the language of migrants. Sampling using cluster sampling technique followed by random sampling. Data collection using observation or referring method, stereo interview, and in-depth interview. Data analysis used descriptive statistics (single and cross frequency distribution table) and qualitative descriptive. Qualitative analysis by means of categorical analysis followed by theoretical meanings and conclusions. The results of this study indicate a shift in mother tongue in the domestic realm. Most of the migrants in Semarang City use Bahasa Indonesia more often than their mother tongue. However, there are some migrants who still maintain their mother tongue among the traditional migrants residing in the kampong area. In the family domain, married migrants whose mother tongue is the same as the mother tongue (husband or wife), are more likely to use a combination of mother tongue and Indonesian to communicate in both family and family affairs.]]>

<![CDATA[As information and communication technology grows wider and more influential in shaping the training of translators recently, the needs to reformulate translator’s competences are also increasing. By combining some necessary traits and characteristics of good translators coming from the field of linguistics with critical pedagogy fostered in Academic Writing course, the author will argue that translation teaching within the framework of Academic Writing class, yields creativity and more promises on the spirit of keeping humanization alive which is at the same time challenged by the ascent notion of machine translation. The growing dependence on using google translate, for most of the students observed in this case study, highlights the importance to embrace both familiarity with the logic and limitation of MT as well as rootedness within the discourse which empowers human autonomy, thus didactic translation. In this respect, the lecturer plays dual role in becoming role-model for students in translation as well as critical evaluator for their imperfect results of translating text on plagiarism seen from the linguistic phenomenon.]]>

<![CDATA[Society needs transliteration of Arabic script to Latin script to help those who can not read Arabic letter correctly. Reality shows there are many problems in the business. Although there is a Joint Decree between the Minister of Education and the Minister of Religious Affairs on Arab-Latin Transliteration Guidance, but in fact there are many versions of transliterations in the field. This paper discusses the problematics of Arab-Latin transliteration in Indonesian, with case studies on the Panduan Hajj and Umrah books of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Travel Haji and Umroh PT Razek and Zidni Silma and Jamiatul Hujaj Kudus. The version of PT Razek follows the Transliteration guidelines of the two ministers, but still causes a lot of mispronunciations which result in misrepresentation. Books published by JHK Kudus attempt to bridge the difficulties faced by some Javanese Islamic community by creating their own transliteration system. Transliteration is quite helpful. It seems necessary to re-agree Latin Arabic transliteration system by considering the principle of the truth of speech and habits that exist in the community]]>

<![CDATA[In Indonesian language, the study of suffix “–an” has been widely practiced by linguists, as if the study of suffix “–an” has been completed and there was no problem. Behind that, the rule of certainty about the suffix “–an” has not been convincingly revealed, wheater it is related to necessity, probability, and certainty.Through typology studies can be found the rules of certainity suffix “–an”. Surely, there will be found three rues: first the rule of suffix “–an”, second the rule of stability of the suffix “–an”, and third the rule of the suffix “–an” position on the sentence relation. Further findings on setencial relations: the presence of the suffix -an determined by verbal form. In relation S-V-O suffix -an always occupy the argument. Suffix -an have the ability to change all categorical word into a noun category except the category of adverbs.]]>

<![CDATA[The reality of young readers'(Jakarta) receptions of the teenlit novel concerning the motives, purposes, and benefits of reading the teenlit novel explains the social-cultural function of teenlit novel. Teenlit novel as a means of entertainment is able to fulfill the social-cultural function, which is giving spiritually pleasure, to be able to accommodate the horizon-expectations of adolescent readers. Teenlit novel provides entertainment while teaching "something" to teenagers. Teenlit novel serves as a social media such as self-identification, actualization, and socialization. Teenlit novel directly or indirectly has function to develop personality: independent, confident, and more mature. However, in some ways there is a contradictory reality between the motives, goals, and benefits of reading teenlit novels among teenagers. The contradictory reality is the absence of a correlation between motives and goals with the benefit of reading teenlit novel. The motive of spare time is not correlated with the purpose of gaining knowledge. The purpose of acquiring knowledge is not correlated with the benefits of not feeling smarter. These facts indicate that there are important issues relating to information and values promoted by the novel teenlit and the value system prevailing in adolescent social life.]]>

<![CDATA[Advertisement is a marketing tool that helps selling goods, providing services, and ideas through certain way in the form of persuasive information. How the persuasion strategy used the advertiser in other to be able to draw attention of potential customers is discussed in this paper. This research data is in the form of advertising discourse. The data used in this study comes from the advertising discourse of online. In the data collection activities used was the observation method or refer method namely listening the use of language in the advertising discourse online. Data was selected according to the research needs. Data were analyzed by using content analysis. The results showed that there were two ways of advertisers persuading prospective customers was persuasion implicitly, and explicitly.]]>

The supported community, in addition, believes that this traditional art is not only acted as an entertainment, but also a facilitator for their hopes and prays. <![CDATA[Every one know Islamy person Buya Hamka. Buya said that politeness speech using not only to older people, but must begin from older people to younger’s one. Politeness speech also reflected leveling believed in God. The purpose of this study is to describe the form of courtesy speech Buya Hamka reflected in Irfan Hamka's novel AYAH. This research approach uses qualitative approach in Pragmatic study especially focuss on Politeness Pragmatics. Methods of data provision using the method refer to the technique of note, while the method of analysis using the contextual method with the theory Politeness Principle of Geoffrey Leech. The results of this study include a form of politeness consisting of two tact maxims, three generosity maxims, five sympathy maxims. Politeness principles has been formed on phares and sentences. Another result is nonlanguage factors which influence on Novel AYAH by Irfan Hamka using proverb in their speech.]]>
