Abstract

Prevention of Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) is important in the treatment of stroke, including pharmacological and mechanical thromboprophylaxis. One of the post-stroke complications is Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), DVT can lead to pulmonary embolism (PE), and Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is manifested as DVT and PE. Stroke patients are at increased risk of developing DVT. This review aims to assess the clinical efficacy of mechanical prophylaxis for preventing venous thromboembolism in stroke patients. The articles were searched through PubMed, ScienceDirect, Sage Journals and ProQuest database. Keywords: "Stroke", "Prevention", "Deep Vein Thrombosis", “Venous Thromboembolism”, “Intermittent Pneumatic Compression”, and “Stocking Compression” combined using the Boolean operators AND or OR. The articles were full text, written in English, published in the last 10 years, and provided information about mechanical prophylaxis for preventing VTE in stroke patients. This review provides important information on VTE prevention in stroke patients. The use of IPC significantly reduces the risk of DVT and the addition of IPC in pharmacological prophylaxis provides moderate benefits in VTE, whereas the use of graduated compression stocking is less clinically significant in the prevention of VTE. The use of IPC is an effective method to reduce the risk of VTE in post-stroke immobilized patients, with fewer skin side effects compared to stocking compression.

Abstract

Illness perception in diabetes mellitus patients can increase uncomfortable feelings. Therefore, religiosity is needed to establish more prosperous psychological well-being. The research aimed to analyze the correlation between religiosity and illness perception in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The study design was a cross-sectional approach. A total of 138 respondents were recruited using consecutive sampling. Data were collected using the Indonesian version of the Centrality Religiosity Scale 15 (CRS-15) and The Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire (B-IPQ) and analyzed using Spearman’s rho with a significant level of 0.05. The results showed that the average value of religiosity was 52.01. The median illness perception was 34.00. Based on statistical values, there was no significant correlation between religiosity and illness perception in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients (p=0,225 and r=-0,104). The absence of the correlation may be due to the assessment of the illness perception that is more directed at the patient's intellectual than the patient's emotional problem. In addition, other factors such as the availability of information and psychological distress can also affect the illness perception. This study indicates the need for further research on other factors related to the perception of disease in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.

Abstract

Auditory hallucinations are the most common hallucinations in schizophrenia, experienced by more than 60% of people with schizophrenia. Patients who have hallucinations often become irrational and lose control of their actions, which can lead to homicide, suicide, and environmental destruction. This study aims to examine the effects of occupational therapy drawing exercises on auditory hallucination symptoms. This study used a quasi-experimental control group technique with a sample size of 40 respondents. The results showed an impact of occupational therapy on drawing activity on auditory hallucinations symptoms, with a p-value of 0.000, and a significant difference in the reduction of auditory hallucinations symptoms between the intervention and control group after occupational therapy with a drawing activity. Patients with auditory hallucinations are advised to engage in occupational therapy drawing activities to alleviate their symptoms.

Abstract

The quality of hospital services depends on the quality of nursing care provided to patients, Nurses are a large fleet in hospitals both in terms of number and hours of service because nurses are 24 hours with patients. Patient satisfaction is an indicator of the quality of care that has been provided to patients, which until now has become the focus of attention for every health service to further enhance the role and function of nurses in improving the quality of care. The aim is to identify the effect of the implementation of Nursing Rounds on patient satisfaction—systematic review using electronic databases identified from Pubmed, EBSCOhost and Google Scholar. Search using keywords, namely nurse, Nursing rounds, hourly rounds and patient satisfaction. The search results contained seven articles that were filtered from 2017-2021 which showed that Nursing rounds could increase patient satisfaction, improve patient safety, and prevent extravasation of infusion fluids. Nursing rounds can also be done together with other professions. Nursing Rounds activities carried out by nurses in a measured and planned manner can increase patient satisfaction. Patient satisfaction is greatly influenced by the role of nurses in carrying out nursing rounds for patients.

Abstract

Infusion is a medical therapy carried out invasively using an effective method to supply fluids, electrolytes, nutrients, and drugs through the blood vessels. Intravenous therapy should be monitored continuously because fluid and electrolyte imbalances can endanger the patient. However, the long-term infusion can increase the occurrence of an infection in the blood vessels called phlebitis. This study literature aims to find evidence of a relationship between the duration of use of intravenous infusions and the incidence of phlebitis. The Study Literature method is a Systematic Literature Review. This Study Literature uses five research journals from the Google Scholar and PubMed databases. The analysis of 5 journals showed a relationship between the infusion length and phlebitis incidence. It is expected that the nurses on duty are expected to be able to pay attention to the time and date of the patient's intravenous infusion and replace the intravenous infusion no more than three days or 72 hours. Further researchers are expected to be able to develop this literature study using other study focuses, namely in the form of factors that can affect phlebitis and increase information, references, and insights in using Literature review as a reference for compiling the final project.

Abstract

Sectio Caesarea surgery causes pain on a mild to severe scale in patients, impacting hemodynamic conditions, so attention is needed to this problem and its management with non-pharmacological therapy using aromatherapy and acupressure as a treatment companion in health services. The aim of the study was to analyze the effect of lavender aromatherapy and acupressure interventions on reducing the pain scale in postoperative sectio caesarea patients. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test with a control group design with a total sample of 16 respondents in each group taken by random sampling system. The group was given lavender aromatherapy intervention and acupressure, while the control group was only given lavender aromatherapy. The results of the research from the t-test showed that the administration of aromatherapy and acupressure had an effect on reducing the pain scale of postoperative sectio caesarea patients with a p-value = 0.000 and a decrease in the mean pain scale from 4.44 (pre-test) to 2.50 (post-test). This shows that aromatherapy and acupressure as complementary therapies can be used as non-pharmacological therapies as supporting treatment and alternative self-care to assist in overcoming pain problems in postoperative sectio caesarea patients. This study shows that lavender aromatherapy and acupressure effectively reduce pain scales in postoperative sectio caesarea patients.

Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the elderly with dementia face challenges in the form of changes in daily routines and the absence of social services, making the task of care shift completely to the family. Families who are not ready to provide appropriate and effective care will have an impact on cognitive deterioration and the development of their dementia condition. The purpose of this study was to describe the care of elderly dementia during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research design used in this study is a narrative literature review. The selection of articles is carried out through 4 stages of the PRISMA flowchart. Articles are searched through Pubmed, Springer Link, Plos One and Google Scholar. The results of the study are the findings of 10 articles that describe the care of elderly dementia during the COVID-19 pandemic in the form of home-based and clinical trial-based care. Clinical trials treatment in the form of telehealth, Mario robot, Tv-assist Dem, and a stationary bicycle, while home-based care is in the form of basic care that is not much different from pre-pandemic while still adhering to health protocols. The conclusion of this study is the need for the elderly with dementia to continue to receive care during the COVID-19 pandemic to avoid worsening cognitive function and the development of dementia which can ultimately have an impact on their health status and quality of life.
