Abstract

Background: When humans enter the old phase, humans will experience physical, mental, social, and health changes and many older people feel alone, frustrated, and finally lose confidence in their health. One of the efforts to improve the health of the elderly can be made by increasing physical activity such as prayer. Objective: Our study aims to review the effect of Islamic prayer (shalat) on the cognitive function of moslems aged 60 and over.Method: Journal searches are conducted with English studies relevant to the topic and are carried out using ProQuest, SagePub, PubMed, Google Scholar, and Semantics databases. The journal year used is limited from 2015 to 2020. The related journals used in this research are four journals. Results: The study results reported that about 95% of the elderly said that praying five times a day would help their cognitive function healthy. These similarities suggest that exercise can help older adults maintain their cognitive abilities, whether prayer or exercise only. Prayer as physical activity may be beneficial for general and selective cognitive aspects, especially among older adults. Conclusion: prayer is an activity that can be done by the elderly and has several sound effects on cognitive function.

Abstract

Background: Elderly population (Elderly) is people who are aged 60 years and over. The increase in life expectancy leads to an increase in the number of elderly populations. This increase leads to an increased risk of physical and mental illness. The prevalence of the population suffering from depression in the elderly is 5 percent to 10 percent. Religious behavior seems to minimize stress levels, misbehavior, provide social support and help individuals find meaning in life. Objective: To find out the religious aspect of depression in the elderlyMethod: Type of study is a literature review. The literature search, both international and national, adapted to PICOT and journal search terms through MESH (Medical Subject Heading), restrictions on taking journals, and other things. Journal used in a literature review. This was obtained through the Scientific Indonesia journal provider database through Google Scholar. In this study, researchers used keywords according to MESH, namely "religiosity," "depression," "elderly," and selected full text.Result: Elderly is more than 60 years old. This is in accordance with the Minister of Social Affairs Regulation of Indonesia Number 05 of 2018 concerning Elderly Welfare. The high life expectancy in the elderly certainly increases the risk of mental and physical illness in the elderly. The quality of life in the elderly begins to decrease, which makes the elderly susceptible to depression. Conclusion: Depression in the elderly can be decreased by increasing the aspect of religiosity in the elderly.

Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) and lung cancer cause significant morbidity and mortality worldwide and pose a global health threat. Each year these two diseases account for more than 1.6 million deaths worldwide. The incidence of both diseases is still high in many developing countries, especially in Asian countries. TB and lung cancer are often confused and misdiagnosed, especially in countries with diagnostic challenges of low TB incidence and risk of missed diagnosis.Case Presentation: The following is a case report of a 53-year-old male patient diagnosed with pulmonary TB accompanied by right lung cancer, and the same respiratory complaints can be had by lung cancer and TB. However, the presence of facial edema (part of the superior vena cava syndrome) causes clinicians to focus more on lung cancer so that the diagnosis of TB is often overlooked. Conclusion: Tuberculosis should be a significant concern, especially in patients with malignancies such as lung cancer and located in TB endemic areas. Delay in diagnosis and or miss diagnosis will affect the patient's outcome.
