Abstract

ABSTRACT  This research aimed at improving students’ reading comprehension by implementing  PORPE technique. Subjects of the research were the second semester students of class G taking reading 1 subject. The research used classroom action research method which was done in two cycles. The data were collected by reading comprehension test for measuring the student’s reading comprehension, observing the teaching learning process for collecting the class condition, and questionnaire for collecting student’s perception toward PORPE learning technique. The results of the research show that (1) the implementation of PORPE technique was able to improve learning process of reading, in which the students become more active and enthusiastic in attending reading class. Therefore, the learning process of reading ran more dynamic. (2) The score of students’ reading comprehensions also improved significantly at the end of each cycle. (3) In terms of students’ perception, generally the students have positive and good respond toward the PORPE technique for teaching and learning reading comprehension.Keywords: PORPE technique, reading comprehension, students’ reading comprehensionABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman mahasiswa dengan menerapkan teknik pembelajaran PORPE. Subjek dari penelitian ini yaitu mahasiswa semester II kelas G yang mengambil mata kuliah Reading 1. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang  dilaksanakan  dalam  dua siklus. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes membaca pemahaman untuk mengukur kemampuan membaca pemahaman mahasiswa, pengamatan terhadap proses pembelajaran reading untuk mengetahui kondisi proses pembelajaran di kelas, dan kuisioner untuk mengumpulkan data persepsi  mahasiswa  terhadap teknik PORPE. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Penerapan  teknik  PORPE  mampu  memperbaiki  proses  pembelajaran  reading, yang mana mahasiswa menjadi  lebih  aktif dan antusias dalam  mengikuti pembelajaran reading. Oleh karena itu proses pembelajaran reading menjadi lebih dinamis. (2) Skor kemampuan membaca pemahaman mahasiswa juga mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan pada setiap akhir siklus. (3) Dalam hal persepsi mahasiswa, secara umum mahasiswa meliki respon yang baik dan positif terhadap penerapan teknik PORPE dalam proses pembelajaran reading.Kata kunci: teknik PORPE, membaca pemahaman, kemampuan membaca pemahaman mahasiswa

Abstract

This article aimed to discuss the parents’ perceptions, on children bilingual education in Bali. Bilingual education could be defined as involving or using two languages in education system, in which one of the language used is students’ native language and in using the languages without mentioning the degree of each language proportion. This small investigation explored a young Balinese girl who became bilingual in English and Bahasa Indonesia and her parents’ perceptions about bilingual education. It involved participant observation, questionnaires administer and interview with her parents. The results of the study showed that the parents wanted their children to be bilingual because it would help in getting better life. Besides, collaboration between teachers, parents, society and environment is needed in order to promote bilingual education without losing children native language, because the parents believe that being bilingual meant children can speak both foreign language and native language equally without losing their native language

Abstract

Japanese proficiency test with convenient access as part of technology growth is an urge of thisresearch. This research was conducted by adopting a Research and Development (R&D) method, usingthe lecturers and the students in Japanese Education Department - Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha -as the research subjects, while a web-based test was plotted as the research object. A web-based testwas concluded as the result of the requirement analysis phase, in order to facilitate administration ofgraduation standards. On the development phase, the web system was designed focused particularly onuser experience so end user could experience the system in a convenient way. Content experts declaredthat the tests have been created have a good quality. After conducting expert judgement, limited test (20grade-4 students) were held, as result, it has a very high point of both reliability level and user response.By empirical validity, some test-questions were recommended to be changed as they have high item difficultyand low item discrimination.Keywords: Nihongo Noryoku Shiken, web-based test, item difficulty, item discrimination

Abstract

Critical Discourse Analysis is one of the models of discourse analysis. The analysis model in the currentstudy tries to describe some news in “Bali Post” about new comers who come to Bali after Lebaran 2010.Those news describe them negatively by giving them negative identification through discourse strategies. Abstract

This study aims to describe the problems of internal conflict contained in the novel Hanum and Rangga. This research is a qualitative research and uses a literary psychology approach. The data in this study are novel excerpts containing internal conflicts. The data source in this research is Hanum and Rangga's novel. Data collection techniques in this study are documentary study techniques using data collection tools in the form of researchers themselves as the main instrument. The data analysis technique in this research is the content study technique. Checking the validity of the data in this study is data triangulation. The results of this study indicate that the internal conflicts contained in the novel Hanum and Rangga Almahendra are as follows, the concepts of guilt, shame, sadness. Keywords: novel, internal conflict, psychology of literature ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan menggambarkan permasalahan konflik internal yang terdapat dalam novel Hanum dan Rangga. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan psikologi sastra. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa kutipan novel yang mengandung konflik internal. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Hanum dan Rangga. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik studi dokumenter dengan menggunakan alat pengumpul data berupa peneliti sendiri sebagai instrumen utama. Teknik data dalam analisa data dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik kajian isi. Pemeriksaan keabsahan penelitian ini menggunakan triangulasi data. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa konflik internal terkandung dalam novel Hanum dan Rangga Almahendra yakni konsep rasa bersalah, rasa malu, kesedihan.Kata-kata kunci: novel, konflik internal, psikologi sastra

Abstract

The art of carving in Bali has been considered as a part of the transformation fromthe soul’s sacrifice in the prehistoric period, which was continued untuil the arrivalof Hinduism-Buddhism influence, and also Chinese culture. Sculpture, at the beginning,served as a means of manifesting gods in Hinduism’s belief and is placedin temples. From this phenomenon, traditional statue come into existence, whichhave peculiar patterns or characteristics in terms of their figurations. This wasthen followed by the existence of traditional natural or autodidact artist in carving,who certainly had a good knowledge in the features of traditional carvings.However, in line with the development of the traditional carving art, the traditionalartists have been capable of development of the traditional carving art products,which are beyond the carving patterns that they have acquired. This results in anew form of creativity, which is appreciated as a modern carving art. The moderncarving art can be considered as an assimilation of local values and western interferencebrought by western artists to Bali. Even though there has been a stagnation,the Balinese carving has been developing in accordance with the dynamics ofthe time. From academic young artists, there appears a new development whichleads the art of carving to the development contemporary art, with its experimentalworks, not only in terms medium and material, but also in terms of creativityor thought in the form of installation art and multimedia. This fact has made theart of carving in Bali moves dynamically and experiences development untul now.Key words: carving art, Hinduism, traditional, religious, modern, contemporaryexperimental

Abstract

This article studies about the monotonous of literary teaching which is not the only problem, but also the student’s low motivation, the shift from conventional text to digital text, and low esteem perspective on literature. Teacher does not have other choices, except to teach theoretically and monotonously as if there is no other choices. The problem in this study is very basic, it is urgent to talk about something basic too, such as literature definition, power and strength of literature and the situation of literature teaching. To help teachers develop the teaching method, the focus of this article is to talk about literature theories which is explained effectively completed by real example of literature teaching.Keywords : literature teaching, literature theory

Abstract

In the lyrics of the song Puzzle, note that insertion can only be to the extent of mixing noun. Then, laying constituents in Puzzle songs tend to be placed at the core of the modifier or not at the core explanatory. It is known that the reason for the birth of code mixing in the theme song lyrics Detective Conan Movie is the refashioning against diction. Choice of foreign vocabulary as a constituent in a unit of grammar such as phrases and clauses are considered more attractive and aesthetic.Keywords: code mixing, Jpop, syntactic analysis.

Abstract

The qualitative research is aimed at describing the women representation in Joseigo (women language) which occured in Japanese Language. The data of the research were the special words, including terms, accent, intonation, pronounciation, and grammar which exclusively referred to be used by Japanese Women. The findings show that the formulation of Joseigo is not something that naturally occured or indication of the ideal femininity but a part of government’s manipulation. Joseigo then constructed by media as a way to elevate thesocial status of women and as a femininity index.

Abstract

Language acquisition is the period of an individual acquires a new language or vocabulary. The period of language acquisition happens a lifetime. The beginning of language acquisition occurs suddenly and often unconsciously. A child will initially undergo a process of first language acquisition (B1), and then followed by a second language acquisition (B2).  The purpose of this study was (1) to determine how the child’s first language acquisition of Japanese-Indonesian marriage couple, (2) to determine the child’s second language acquisition of of Japanese-Indonesian marriage couple, (3) to determine which of the languages either the first or the second language which is better in term of the level of mastery as well as the factors that lead to it. The research subject was the child of the Japanese-Indonesian marriage couple living in Sanur area. The data collected by the method of observation that was reinforced with the record and interview techniques, and then analyzed with descriptive qualitative method.  The results of this study is the recognition of  the process of first language acquisition, a second language, as well as the finding in which of the two languages is better in term of the level of mastery. The expected outcomes of this study are scientific publications in journal with ISSN as well as a sociolinguistic supplementary material. Keyword: language acquisition   ABSTRAKPemerolehan bahasa merupakan periode seorang individu memperoleh bahasa atau kosakata baru. Periode pemerolehan bahasa ini terjadi sepanjang masa. Permulaan pemerolehan bahasa terjadi secara tiba-tiba bahkan sering pula tanpa disadari. Seorang anak pada awalnya akan mengalami proses pemerolehan bahasa pertama (B1) terlebih dahulu, kemudian baru diikuti pemerolehan bahasa kedua (B2). Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk mengetahui bagaimanakah pemerolehan bahasa pertama dari anak pasangan pernikahan beda bangsa Jepang-Indonesia, (2) untuk mengetahui  pemerolehan bahasa kedua dari anak pasangan pernikahan beda bangsa Jepang-Indonesia, (3) untuk mengetahui manakah dari bahasa pertama dan bahasa kedua tersebut yang lebih dikuasai serta faktor-faktor apa yang mengakibatkan hal tersebut.Subjek penelitian ini adalah satu orang anak dari pasangan pernikahan beda bangsa Jepang-Indonesia yang tinggal di daerah Sanur. Data dikumpulkan dengan metode observasi yang diperkuat dengan teknik rekam dan wawancara, kemudian dianalisis dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah dapat ditemukenalinya proses pemerolehan bahasa pertama, bahasa kedua, serta mana dari kedua bahasa tersebut yang baik tingkat penguasaannya. Luaran dari penelitian ini yang diharapkan adalah publikasi ilmiah dalam jurnal ber-ISSN serta pengayaan bahan ajar sosiolinguistik. Kata kunci: pemerolehan bahasa
