Abstract

This study aims to observe the growth of Peranakan Etawah goats (PE goat) that are maintained intensive in Manokwari regency. The research material used was 50 PE goats that were born from 42 parents. The research method used is suvei with case study technique. The sample of pregnant goat used was taken by purposive sampling. The observed variables were birth weight, body weight 90 days and daily weight gain of goats studied. Data on the results of the study were analyzed using the t-test to compare growth of the goats observed by type of birth (single vs twin) and sex (male vs female). The results of statistical analysis showed that birth weight (3.01 ± 0.44 kg) and body weight 90 days (9.09 ± 1.77 kg) in single-birth-type PE goats were higher (P <0.05) than birth weight ( 2.76 ± 0.44kg) and body weight of 90 days (8.07 ± 1.67kg) in twin goat birth type. However, the single birth weight of single-birthed PE goats (65.58 ± 17.53g) was statistically not different (P> 0.05) with the multiple births (58.96 ± 19.23g). Also known that birth weight (3.16 ± 0.47 kg) and body weight 90 days (9.22 ± 1.77 kg) in male PE goats was higher (P <0.05) than birth weight (2.68 ± 0.29kg) and body weight 90 days (8.27 ± 1.71kg) in the female. While the weight of male goat PE (64.26 ± 18.86g) was statistically not different (P> 0.05) with the female (62.18 ± 17.79g).

Abstract

Deer is a wild animal that has economi value and can be utilized by the commnity as a source of protein of animal origin so that the deer can be breed by the communty. In papua deer have been cultivated or breed in a relativery large scare. The purpose of cultivation or captivity is to know the daily behavior or deer timor (Cervus timorensis) in brooder breeding condtion with large numbers of pet populations. The time of study for ±one month is from the beginning of september to the and of september 2017. Using 10 sample from 24 deer in breeding, 3 aduit males, 2 young males, 3 adult females and 1 young females and 1 culf. Using time observation method with observation technique. Analyze data using exel to find the percen tage of social activity from each time period. Each time period was divided into I 06:00-08:00(6,48%); II 08:00-10:00(25,93%); III 10:00-12:00(19,44%); IV 12:00-14:00(7,41%); V 14:00-16:00(6,48) and VI 16:00-18:00(34,26). Our findings showed that social activity/interaction in group much more observed in the afternoon.

Abstract

The aim of this resarch is to determine the potential of rumen content of cattle from slaughterhouse as ruminants feed in Manokwari District, judging from quantity (fresh and dry weight), Quality (DM and OM content), and physical characteristics. Data of research analyzed by tabulation and T-Test. The results showed that each cow that is cut produces an average rumen content of 8.507, 88 g fresh weight or 1.127,16 g dry weight with DM content 89,14% and OM content 89,83%. The average daily cattle slaughter of 5 tails, so that the contents of the rumen generated as much as 10.595,8 g (10,596 kg) fresh weight or 5.635,8 g (5,636 kg) dry weight with 5,024 kg DM and 4,513 kg OM availability. Characteristics of the rumen content after drying is yellowishbrown , texture varies smooth to coarse and aromatic typical of rumen or dried grass.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the potential of the sugar mill waste, namely baggase and molasses as a mixture of cow manure as a substrate in a methanogenic fermentation. This study uses 4 treatment that is P0 as controls (100% cow manure), later in other treatment using a mixture of cow manure comparison: baggase: molasses, P1 (50:20:30), P2 (50:30:20) and P3 ( 50: 40; 10). Parameters measured were nitrogen, carbon, ratio C / N and pH value. The analyze used in this research is statistic analysis. The results were obtained P3 which is a mixture of substrate (50:40:10) has an average value of the content of nitrogen, carbon, ratio C / N, and high pH value is compared to the other treatments. Ratio C / N at P3 of 24.47 closest Ratio C / N ideal for methanogenic fermentation which amounted to 25. The pH value of the treatment amounted to 7.05 billion P3 also meet the standards for process fermentation ranging from 6.6 to 7.6.

Abstract

This research aims to know the attitude of consumers, the level of satisfaction, and what product attributes that are considered consumers before buying the broiler carcass in traditional market of Samarinda City. The data retrieval research conducted during November 2016. The basic method of research is using descriptive method, and it’s implementation with the technique level. The location of the study was chosen intentionally in Samarinda City by taking 3 traditional markets as a sample. The determination of the number of samples is done proportionally and the technique of determining the sampling method by chance (Accidental sampling) with the number of samples of 50 respondents. The type of data used is primary data and secondary data with data collection techniques by observation, interview, and recording. The analysis used is Fishbein Multi Attribute attitude analysis and to analyze satisfaction using Customers Satisfaction Index. The result of the research based on analysis of Fishbein Multiatribut known to consumer attribute value toward color attribute 16.80, weight (16.48), aroma (15.76), skin hygiene (14.57) and price (13.11). Based on Costumer Satification Index the level of customer satisfaction on broiler carcass is 77.11%. Result of research based on analysis of Fishbein Multi Attribute known consumer attitude toward carcass is “positive” which means consumers are well-receptive to broiler carcass in traditional markets with most attributes considered in the purchase decision of chicken carcasses in traditional markets of Samarinda City is the color of broiler carcasses. The order of attributes from the most considered to the least considered is color, carcass weight, aroma, skin hygiene and broiler carcass price. Based on Customer Satisfaction Index of consumer satisfaction level against broiler carcass is 77.11% who are satisfied category.

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the size and physical description (location, shape, colour and texture) ovarian of Echymipera kalubu. Study was conducted in 3 months from June to September 2017. Three female E. kalubu with an average body weight 399±97.32g and average body length 21.67±5.51cm were used in this study. Sample of bandicoots were dissected using a surgical tool and then measured using measuring tester and analytic scales. Descriptive statistics was used to analyse the data. The results showed that average length of female reproductive organs of E. kalubu was 11,00±0,87 cm (right) and 11,03±0,83 cm (left); average weight of ovarian was 0,01±0,0048 g (right) and 0,02±0,0006 g (left). This study also showed that characteristics of ovarian were in common with other polytocus animals.
