Abstract

The aim of this study were to obtain the dry matter (DM) production of sudan grass at second harvest under different plant distances without nitrogen fertilization and to decide whether fertilization have to be added or not. The design of the study was split plot design 4 x 7 with three blocks. The main plots were plant distances, namely :20x40 cm (J1), 40x40 cm(J2), 60x40 cm (J3) and 80x40 cm (J4), and each plot was divided into 7 subplots for randomly N application treaments, namely :N0 (P0); N75 (P1); N150 (P2); N225 (P3); N300 (P4); N375 (P5) dan N450 (P6). Phosphorus and K fertilizer were given at the same rate, that were 300 kg P2O5 and 150 kg K2O. Result of the study showed that planting distances, level of fertilizers and the interaction were significant (P<0.05) affected DM production and height of plants in the second harvest. The DM production in the second harvest was significantly lower (P<0.05) than the DM production in the first harvest. From this study it can be concluded that N fertilizer application should be given again after cutting in order to maintain the DM production of sudan grass in the next harvest.

Abstract

Hematologist (coagulation, hemoglobin, sedimentation rate and haematocrit) is a parameter to know Arab chicken's physiology condition. Unfortunately there is however lack information of hematologist Arab chicken available in a farm which the chicken is raising. Twenty Arab chickens which different ages ( 5 months, 7 months and 1.5 years) and different sex (female and male) is used as samples. Blood samples is taken from vena cava in left and right wings. Results of the present study showed that the chicken is healthy, even though the hematocrit is different with literature. The differences is expe,,1.ed by the chicken which used in experiment different with the chicken in the literature.

Abstract

This study was carried out for four months by using 48 chicks which consist of the progeny of interse Bangkok Chicken, interse Kampung Chicken, Crossing of Bangkok-Kampung and Crossing of Kampung Bangkok. Variables of the study were average body weight, feed Consumption and feed Efisiency. A Complete randomized design was used in this study. The result showed the highest average body weight and feed consumption in progeny interse Bangkok Chicken, however the best feed efisiency found in crossing of Kampung-Bangkok.

Abstract

The fermentation process is an activity of microorganisms that make products with characteristics of texture, flavor, aroma and changes in nutrient quality that better than the original raw material. It is also protein process of developing of protein from the material. This study uses a Completely Randomized Design with four treatments. P0 = Unfermented winged seeds, P1 = Winged seeds + 0,1% Trichoderma viride mushroom (Tv), P2 = Winged seeds + 0,2% Trichoderma viride mushroom (Tv), P3 = Winged seeds + 0,3% Trichoderma viride mushroom (Tv). The material used was crushed winged seeds as substrates that mixed to be homogenized. One hundred gr of each sample from every treatment was weighed, put into a perforated plastic bag (to create anaerobic atmosphere) with 2 cm thick. Subsequently, samples were incubated in fermented room at 30oC for 7 days. Each treatment was repeated 3 times. Variables observed in color, texture and coarse fiber. This study indicated that the winged fermented beans with Trichoderma viride mushroom had no effect on color, effected crude fiber and texture.

Abstract

Viability test are using to find out quality of seed. Viability of Sorghum sp. was tested by using three different media of germination through experimental field. Three different media of germination are sand (100%), composite of sand and soil 50%:50% and 75%:25%. Research variables of this study were germination percentage, daily rate of germination, average daily germination, culmination of germination and germination value. The results showed that there was no significant different between three different media of germination on germination percentage, daily rate germination, average daily germination and germination value. The significant different between three media of germination was only found on culmination germination. Moreover, composite sand and soil (50%:50%) media revealed good performance for Soghum sp germination. It mean this media suitable for germination.

Abstract

The research was conducted in the area of Tangguh LNG exploration at Babo-Bintuni on February-June 2002. Observations ware done at the 9 (nine) points done intentionally. Estimation of population and density using the Hanson method was applied. The observation results showed that the number of the most widely fauna found in the region was from avifauna that i.e. 16 species with a frequency of density was between 0.4 to 49.9. The largest population was dominated by marine birds, i.e. storks (Egreta Intermedia) and gull (Malurus Cyanocephalus) that accupy mangrove cover as a place to grow. Mammals found ware deer (Cervus timorensisi), wild boar (Sus scrofa) and possum (Phalanger, sp). Small reptiles found monitorlizard (Varanus salvator) and several species of snakes.

Abstract

This research was aimed to study the effect of Akway wood (Drymis Sp) extract treatment on spermatozoa quality of mice (Mus musculus L). The extract was given orally once a day in 2 weeks. The animals were divided into three groups; one control group (K1) and two treatment groups with four replicates. K2 group was given 1.3 ml/gr body weight / day and K3 group was given 3.3 ml/ gr body weight / day. The results indicated that treatments were increased significantly (P<0.05) on acrosome integrity and viability, while on the motility, concentration and abnormality treatments had no significant effect.

Abstract

This research aims to know the usage of cassava starch and larva palm wastes in ration of starter broiler period. A 100 of SR 707 day old chick in average body weight of 49,53±3,37 g reared. Those DOCs reared into 20 boxes. A completed randomized design consisted of four ration treatments, i.e. without cassava starch, and larva palm wastes, cassava starch 11.10%+ larva palm waste starch 3.60%, cassava starch 21.70%+larva palm waste starch 7.5%, and cassava starch 32.50%+larva palm waste starch 11,00%. Ration with iso-energy and protein content 22.5% and metabolic energy of 3000Kcal. Each treatment repeated five times and therefore 20 units of research obtained. Variables observed were feeding rations, growth rate, feeding ration efficiency, and mortality. The findings shown the usage of cassava starch 32.5% and larva palm waste starch with 11% can substitute cassava of 45% in starter broiler feeding ration. Substitute of cassava starch 32.5% and cassava starch of wastes of 11% is still increasing ration of consumption and daily growth rate in the starter growth period on substitution of cassava starch 2.70% and larva palm waste starch up to 7.5%. Efficiency of fed ration on treatment was not significant.

Abstract

Ayaman bird (Gallirallusphilippensis) usually hunted for meat for people in Prafi, specifically in Macuan village. The aim of this research was to determine the qualitative, morphometric measurement, carcass quality and meat nutritional contain of Ayaman bird. Fifty six head of ayaman birds (28 males and 28 females) was used in this research. Descriptive method with case study technique was used. Data was analyzed with t test. Qualitative trait such as feather color, shank shape were the same between male and female bird except for the color of the beak and shank were different. Male and female beak and wings length were not significantly different, while tail and middle finger of the male were longer than the female bird. Carcass, hind and fore carcassweight were heavier in male than female bird, but carcass percentage were the same between male and female bird. Meat nutritional contain such as protein, fat, energy and cholesterol were the same between male and female bird.

Abstract

The field and laboratory experiment were conducted to know the effects of fertilization and legumes introduction on the quality natural forages at Kebar Valley, regency of Manokwari. The experiment was designed in a Completely Radomized Design with six treatments and three replications. The results showed that fertilizing and adding legumes had significant effects (p<0.01) on increases of forage species, forage nutrients component (dry matter, organic matter, crude protein), forage production ( fresh and dried), in vitro digestibility (dry matter, organic matter, crude protein) and increasing total digestible nutrient (TDN) and metabolism energy (ME). It is concluded that fertilizing and adding legumes have potential positive effect on improvement of natural forages at Kebar valley, Manokwari regency.
