Abstract

This study aimed to find out the effectiveness of cooperative learning model of the Think Pair Share type observed from interpersonal intelligence toward Mathematical competency on the fourth grade at SDN Moh. Hatta in academic year of 2018/2019. This study was a quasi-experimental design with 2 x 2 factorial design. The population of this study were 244 students on the fourth grade of SDN Moh. Hatta in academic year of 2018/2019. The sample technique used in this study was purposive sample. The data were collected using test and non-test methods. The data were analysed using 2-lane variance analysis. Based on the results of the analysis, it is obtained that (1) FA hitung = 7,002 > F tabel (α = 0,05; 1;76))= 3,967. Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. It signifies that “there is a significant difference in Mathematical competency between group of students who are taught through cooperative learning model of Think Pair Share type and group of students who are taught using conventional learning”, (2) FB hitung = 0,041 <  F tabel (α = 0,05; 1;76)) = 3,967. Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) is accepted. It means that “there is no significant difference in Mathematical competency between students who have high interpersonal intelligence and students who have low interpersonal intelligence”, (3) FAB hitung = 0,902  < F tabel (α = 0,05; 1;76))= 3,967. From the last results, the null hypothesis (H0) is accepted. It means that “there is no significant interaction between cooperative learning model of Think Pair Share type and interpersonal intelligence on Mathematical competency. The results of the treatment effectiveness calculation obtained the score of 14η2=0.083"> . Overall, it can be concluded that the application of the learning model has an influence on the Mathematical competency by 8,3%

Abstract

This research is applied to tenth graders of SMKN 1 Pungging to investigate the influence of teaching writing descriptive text ability using mind mapping technique with think pair share strategy. This population of this research is the tent graders that consist of 620 students which is taken 64 students as the sample. There are two classes; they are X TKJ 1 which is applied by teaching writing descriptive text using mapping technique with think pair share strategy and X TKJ 2 which is taught writing descriptive text by conventional technique. However, both of the groups were taught the same materials based on the curriculum. This study used pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design for experimental and control groups. The pre test and post test were administered not only to the experimental group but also the control group. The pre test is as starting point to verify the condition of both groups. Finally,  at the end of the treatment, the experimental group and the control group received a post test; the result of the post test was to define the significance difference between the experimental group and the control group. The result is there is significance difference between the classes which is taught writing descriptive text using mind mapping technique with think pair share strategy and which is taught writing descriptive by the conventional technique. The result calculated by SPSS 20.0; it is a computer program statistical calculation and the result is further discussed in Hypothesis Testing. It is approved that the mean of post-test of experimental group is increased from 58.28 to 80.16. It can be noticed that the mean of the post-test of experimental is 21.72 higher than the mean of post-test of control group.

Abstract

This study is aimed at analyzing how summative assessments made by eleventh-grade English teachers reflect Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). This was qualitative research that involved 3 English subject teachers in Senior High Schools in Bali, Indonesia. Meanwhile, the object of this research was summative assessment in the form of teacher-made test items for class XI Semester I in the academic year of 2018/2019. The items were analyzed by the document analysis method to determine the extent to which HOTS based on Revised Bloom's Taxonomy was reflected in the teacher-made test. Meanwhile, a one-on-one interview was conducted to obtain data on teacher knowledge about HOTS. The results of this study found that the percentage of HOTS-based teacher-made test items was 5.4% and was still limited to the cognitive level of Analyze (C4). From the results of the analysis, the cognitive levels of students measured were still in Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS). This was due to the fact that teachers did not fully understand the concept of Higher Order Thinking Skills. Furthermore, it was obtained from the interview that there was a discrepancy between the knowledge and performance of the teacher in the assessment. Therefore, teachers especially eleventh-grade English teachers have to learn more about HOTS and join training in developing HOTS-based items.

Abstract

The implementation of the vocational field work practice program is not in line with school expectations, the school still faces difficulties in finding a place to work in accordance with the expertise of students, the supervisor does not periodically monitor the business world of industry, lack of student discipline, the results of the field work practice program is declining, and the evaluation of field work practice programs has never been done at the Ketaping Aviation Vocational School. This study uses the CIPP program evaluation model (Context, Input, Process, Product) with a combination of balanced mixed model research methods and implemented at SMK. Qualitative research respondents were the head of the field work practice program, the head of the safety program, the supervisor, the field instructor. Quantitative research sample is class XII students who carry out practical work program in semester 3 a total of 45 samples. Data collection techniques data collection through questionnaires, documentation and interviews. Data analysis techniques were carried out on each quantitative and qualitative method, then the results of the analysis were combined to find mutually reinforcing or conflicting data and deepen the finding data. The research findings show that the context component is in the good category Input components are obtained by enough categories, the process components are obtained by enough categories and the results components are obtained by enough categories. It can be concluded that the field work practice program of Ketaping Aviation School is of sufficient value so that it needs improvement in all aspects of the components.

Abstract

Study aimed to determine the effect of language games with audio visual aids on students' speaking competence at fourth grade students of Tunas Daud elementary school and to describe the implementation of language games with audio visual aids on students’ speaking competence. The design used in this research was a mixed method design. It was explanatory design since this research was started with quantitative design (experimental design with post test only control design) followed by qualitative design. The samples were 62 students; 31 students of the experimental group and 31 students of the control group of fourth grade Tunas Daud elementary students. The data were collected by using speaking competence test and analyzed by IBM SPSS 22 with independent t-test. The data were also collected through an observation sheet for observing the implementation of the language games with audio visual aids. The results showed there was a significant effect of the language games with audio visual aids on students' speaking competence in which the mean score of the students who were taught by using language games with audio visual aids is better than the students who were taught without language games with audio visual aids. For the implementation of the language games with audio visual aids, it can be seen that the implementation of the language games with audio visual aids were done in a very good way. The games was suitable for the students since it could give good impacts for the students. The students are active and confident to speak.

Abstract

This study was aimed at investigating the effect of project-based learning on students’ speaking skills at the eighth grade students of SMPN 5 Kuta Selatan in academic year 2018/2019. The design of the study was post-test only control group with 2x2 factorial designs. Sample involved 82 students that were selected through random sampling technique. The data were collected through questionnaire of learner autonomy and speaking performance test which had been validated before. The data were analysed by using two way ANOVA and t-Scheffe. The study discovered: there was different effect in speaking skills between the students who were taught by using project-based learning and those who were taught by using conventional method (F=18.391 and p<0.05) in which the Project-Based Learning group excelled better in speaking skills, there was an interaction between learner autonomy and project-based learning in affecting students’ speaking skills (F= 45.325 and p<0.05), the students in which high learner autonomy who were taught by using the project-based learning affect better than those who were taught by using conventional method; however, there was not significantly different in speaking skills of the students with low learner autonomy who were taught by using project-based learning and who were taught by using conventional method (p>0.05).
