Abstract

Lemabang Market is located at a crowded junction in Palembang city, which connect four streets, namely Jl. Yos Sudarso, Jl. Jendral Bambang Utoyo, Jl. RE. Martadinata, and Jl. Ratu Sianum. The intersection has traffic signals, but no traffic signs. The condition of the four approaching roads are narrow. Jl. RE Martadinata and Jl. Yos Sudarso have heavy traffic volume, while Jl. Jendral Bambang Utoyo and Jl. Ratu Sianum have less traffic. This study is aimed to evaluate the performance of the intersection, the existing condition of the traffic, and analyze several alternative traffic arrangements by creating some alternative solutions by means of VISSIM 8. The traffic counting survey was done, as well as inventory survey for road and intersection of Lemabang. The result of simulation model shows that the improvement of median, road geometric and remove the blocking in the middle of junction give better performance in alternative 1 and alternative 2.

Abstract

This paper presents a study of the behavior of self compacting reinforced concrete with polypropylene fiber. Four self compacting reinforecd concrete beam specimens were cast and tested in this study. Two beams were cast without fiber and two beams were cast with polypropylene fiber. The proportion of polypropylene fiber was 0.9 kg/m of the weight of concrete and the proportion of silica fume was 10 % of the weight of portland cement. The dimension of the beam was (180×260) mm with 2000 mm length. Two longitudinal bars with Ø10 mm were placed at the top of the beam as compressive bars and three longitudinal bars with Ø10 mm were placed at the bottom of the beam as tensile bars. Shear reinforcement with Ø8 mm with spacing of 150 mm were placed at the midle, and there were no stirrups at the shear region. Several cylinder specimens with size of (150×300) mm and beam without reinforcement with size of (200×200×700) mm were also cast and tested to determine the mechanics properties of concrete such as compressive strength, tensile strength, modulus of elasticity and modulus of ruptures. The result show that the compressive strength and modulus of elasticity of self compacting concrete with polypropylene fiber were decreased 26.98 % and 9.98 %, respectively compare to the self compacting concrete without fiber. While the tensile strength and modulus of ruptures of the self compacting concrete with polypropylene fiber were increased 2.76 % and 3.65 %, respectively compare to the self compacting concrete without fiber. The shear capacities of the self compacting concrete beams without fiber were 62.76 kN and 63.44 kN. While the shear capacities of the self compacting concrete beams with polypropylene fiber were 60.77 kN and 50.61 kN.

Abstract

The paper deals with frequency analysis of irreguler framed structures. The analysis used finite element method cast in matrix formulation. Apart from frequency analysis of framed structures that assumed to be of frame with relative rigid floor system, and the mass of structure is lumped at each floor, the analysis adopted consistent mass formulation. To reduce structural degrees of freedom, static condensation and multi-point constraint algorithms where used. The natural frequency resulted out of proposed analysis was then compared to that obtained by assuming rigid floor. The difference was due to the different schemes used in the consideration of inertial mass forces.Key Words: dynamic analysis, finite element method, multi-point constraints, static condensation, natural frequency.

Abstract

The development of transportation is now very rapid, especially the existing transportation on land. The development of transportation in Palembang City is also accompanied by problems that are no less complex than the progress. The problems that occur especially in the existing transportation network, the intersection of which is the meeting of two or more roads into a critical point of the occurrence of traffic congestion. Looking at the growth rate of traffic is increasing from year to year in the city of Palembang, so for the future there will be problems of intersection capacity that can no longer accommodate the flow of traffic. Based on the calculation of MKJI 1997 analysis, with the development of Fly Over Sp.Bandara-Tanjung Api-Api and the influence of construction of LRT (Light Rail Transit) of South Sumatra can reduce the level of delays at Simpang Bandara - Tanjung Api-Api, where before the development of value Level of service (LOS) E of 57 dtk / smp after construction of Fly over Sp.Bandara-Tanjung api-api (predicted 2018) increased to a service level / service level (LOS) C value of 18.03 sec / smp and predicted 5 years after development (Prediction year 2023) into value of service level or level of service (LOS) C equal to 18,58 dtk / smp.

Abstract

The increment of urban infrastructure development causes the green land as a catchment area changes into watertight land cover, so the surface runoff increases. When the surface runoff more than the infiltration, its causes floods. One of the solutions is reduce the quantity of watertight land by using the eco-friendly land cover. Besides land cover, land slope is one of the factors affecting amount of surface flow. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the effect of land cover use and slope relation to surface flow discharge with rain intensity 70 mm / hour. This research was conducted in laboratory using rainfall simulator with area 2 x 1 m and slope variation 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%. Types of land cover used in this research are paving block (stretcher and basketwave pattern), grass block, grass (Pennisetum purpureum schamach), concrete pavement and sand (as land without cover). The results of this study indicate the use of concrete pavement to produce surface flow discharge value ranged from 2.66 to 3.22 liters / minute, paving block of stretcherbond ranged from 2.43 to 3.0 liters / minute, paving block basketwave ranged from 2.17 to 2.72 liters / minute, grass block ranged from 1.99 to 2.59 liters / minute. Grass produced surface flow discharge ranging from 1.40 to 2.12 liters / minute and sand as land without cover ranged from 1.48 to 2.29 liters / minute. The land slope variation is very influential on the amount of surface runoff discharge. The steeper land, make the surface runoff discharge increase.
