Abstract

This article tries to criticize the term ‘adalah al-shahabah by elaborating the work of Abu Rayyah titled  Adhwa` Ala Al-Sunnah Al-Nabawiyyah. For him, ‘adalah shahabah is not a final concept and taken for granted. Then he deconstructs this concept and makes a new conception. In sum, Abu Rayyah ideas that place shahabah under criticism is one of the idea  to refresh Islamic thought where in Shahabah era, it was common to criticize a shahabah to another.

Abstract

In this article the author elaborates the works of Abu al-Baqa’ al-’Ukbari, I’rāb al- Hadis al-Nabawī. The appearance of this work is effected by the concerns of nuhat to the phenomenon of lahn in matan. There are a number of 125 transmitters that he criticize on nahwiyah perspectives. Of these 10 are women. Not all elements of the structure of matan he elaborates, only certain words in the matan deemed or alleged to have or contain ambiguity aroused assumptions of lahn. The work of al-’Ukbari is thought as the first work in the corpus studies of Hadis.

Abstract

The language of the Qur’an has long been disputed in the history of Qur’anic exegesis. It particularly related to the discourse of Arabic rhetoric and in turn has also sparked a considerable controversy especially in the context of “kalam” sectarianism (madhhab kala>mi>). John Wansbrough, a famous Western scholar, is one of those who paid much attention on the issue in his monumental work, Qur’anic Studies. The work is regarded as one of the exponents of the “historical-critical” study of the Quran that contains several key issues, including the intersection of the Qur’an with Arabic rhetoric discourse, which in turn is also responsible for the emergence of sacred sense in the two domains. Starting with Wansbrough’s key issues on Qur’anic Studies, this article provides a brief introduction to his thought about the emergence of the concept of the sacred language (lingua sacra) in the history of the Qur’an and some of the implications thereof.Keywords: John Wansbrough, lingua sacra, rhetorical exegesis, majaz.

Abstract

Q.4:34 is frequently used to justify men’s domination over women. There are some keywords in this verse that Edip Yuksel thought have been mistranslated and misunderstood by many scholars, then he reinterpreted them. The authors employed five principles to establish their work, “Quran: A Reformist Translation”. Those five principles are what shaped the work and what influenced the final result of the interpretation. This article uses their principles as tool to criticize the interpretation, so it is called internal criticism. Finally, this work concludes that Edip Yuksel’s interpretation valuated by the five principles is relatively implemented well, the lack is located in the author’s attitude to decide the meaning rashly without explaining the reason they finally chose the meaning after criticizing other’s work.Keywords: 4:34, mistranslated, misunderstood, internal criticism.

Abstract

ne"> During this time, the study of semiotics of hadith looks has less ofinteresting in the study of discourse text. Most scholars who engagedin this study prefer to bring semiotics to read the signs mentioned inverses of the Koran. In fact, the hadith of the Prophet himself as secondafter Koran contains the actual signs also interesting to uncover by thesemiotics. Abstract

This article discusses methods of memorizing Qur’an for early childhood, as a form of early childhood education. The methods are very various. They are method of talqin, listening record of murottal, reading mushaf, motion and sign, etc. As one of the methods, the writer specifically talks about a way of memorizing qur’an for early childhood in a family of Kamil el-Laboody written on Rahasia Sukses 3 Hafizh Qur’an Cilik Mengguncang Dunia. He successfully educated his three children to be hafiz^ in their early childhood in 4,5 years old. Before entering the main idea, the writer elaborates how Islam (Qur’an and Hadis) and science talk about memorizing Qur’an for early childhood.Keywords: method, memorizing Qur’an, early childhood.

Abstract

The theory of Makkiyyah and Madaniyyah, which is formed as the implication of the historical background of the Qur’an, which went through phases of Mecca and Medina, is primarily known in the Qur’anic studies. Given that the hadith is also a primary source of Islam after the Qur'an, and is also framed in the same history as the Qur’an, this paper attempts to develop a theory of Makkiyyah and Madaniyyah in hadith. It argues that such theory in the Qur'an can be adopted into the study of hadith.

Abstract

Peace is a dream of all religions. There is no religion that teaches violence. However, in practice, there are still a lot of tragedies caused by both religious fanaticism and misunderstanding of religion. In this article, the author wanted to examine the ethics of peace in the Qur'an. By observing a few verses, although not as a whole, the Qur'an appears to have peace ethics from the smallest scope like a small family up to the most extensive scope of the inter-countries relation.

Abstract

Andrew Rippin is one of contemporary orientalists who is interested in Islamic teaching as well as its implementation in Muslim’s daily life. He focuses on development of tafsir in Islamic society especially the modern period with its basic assumptions and exegesis result which are, in some degree, different enough with what traditional exegete understood about Qur’an. Unlike most of traditional orientalists, Rippin seemed to be academically fair and neutral in revealing and analyzing the data related with his concern. Additionally, he tended to map the data under some categories he made and not interested in making any comment about the data including agreement, complement or critique as well. Unfortunately, Rippin is not still well-known as other modern orientalists that this paper is trying to introduce little thing about him and his academic findings on Islami, Qur’an, Qur’anic exegesis and contemporary Muslim word including its exegetical traditions.Keywords: Andrew Rippin, Sejarah Tafsir Al-Qur’an, Tafsir Al-Qur’an modern.

Abstract

In reality, the rising divorce rate in Indonesia, particularly as recorded by Religious Court, is alarming and thus needs to be studied. There are two main factors that determine the successful marriage: choosing the right spouse-to-be (pre-wedding) and maintaining a good marital relationship (post-wedding).
