Abstract

Mathematical representation ability is the ability to present notations, symbols, tables, pictures, graphs, diagrams, equations, or other mathematical expressions into other forms possessed by students to find solutions to a problem at hand. Therefore, teachers should provide sufficient opportunities for students to be able to train and develop mathematical representation skills as an important part of solving the problems given. The mathematical representation ability of students is still low. Students still find it difficult to solve mathematical problems related to aspects of verbal indicators, picture indicators, and symbol indicators. This can be found in linear programming material. Also, linear programming material is often considered difficult material by students in learning mathematics. This study aims to describe students' mathematical representation abilities including symbol representation, image representation, verbal representation on linear programming material in class XI SMA Negeri 3 Ambon. The type of research used is combination research (mixed methods). The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 3 Ambon with 36 research subjects from class XI MIPA 4 and the subjects chosen to be interviewed were based on the results of the mathematical representation ability test. From the results of the mathematical representation ability test on linear programming material, students are grouped based on the very high, high, medium, low, and very low categories. The subjects interviewed were 1 student with a very high category; 1 student with a low category, and 1 student with a very low category. Linear programming material is given to help students improve mathematical representation abilities. The largest percentage of students' test results are in the very low category. Based on the test results, it shows that the mathematical representation ability of students on symbol representation is higher than image representation and verbal representation. Meanwhile, from the three subjects interviewed, it was found that subjects tended to fulfill the indicator of symbol representation ability compared to the indicators of image representation and verbal representation

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the intrinsic learning motivation in mathematics learning in SMA Negeri 1 Kedungreja students. The subjects in this study were a mathematics teacher and 20 students of class XIMIPA 4 SMA Negeri 1 Kedungreja. Qualitative descriptive is the method used in this study. Data collection was carried out by means of questionnaires and interviews. The results showed that there were 15 students with high intrinsic motivation category and 5 students with medium category. Analysis of the average score per indicator for the two categories of intrinsic learning motivation shows that all indicators are in the high category, both high and moderate motivation. However, the highest difference in average scores among the other three indicators is the good habits indicator with a difference of 0.81. This calculation is also confirmed through interviews that students with high intrinsic motivation to learn will study the previous material if tomorrow is the mathematics lesson schedule while students with the intrinsic learning motivation category are stating that if tomorrow is the mathematics lesson schedule they will only look at the previous material

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the improvement of student learning independence through the implementation of blended learning. The subject in this study were students of the Department of Mathematics Education, Musamus University, who took the differential equations course as many as 32 students. This classroom action research uses a Kemmis & Mc Taggart class action research cycle which is carried out in 2 cycles. Data collection techniques used in the form of documentation, observation and interviews. The documentation used are list of grades task and midterm exams, to measure student learning independence used learning independence observation sheet, as well as to determine student responses to implementation of learning using the interview method. Based on the analysis of the data obtained, the implementation of blended learning is able to increase student independence as evidenced by the results obtained there is an increase in the number of students who have learning independence. Pre-cycle learning independence data showed that 21.35% of students had aspects of learning independence, after the implementation of blended learning, the results in cycle 1 increased to 49.38% of students, and increased again in cycle 2 to 78.75% of students. With the implementation of blended learning, it is also able to improve student achievement as indicated by student achievement data. In cycle 1, the number of students who graduated was 46.88%, and increased in the implementation of cycle 2 to 71.88%

Abstract

This research is based on teachers who rarely use learning models and media to support the learning process so that students are not interested in learning. This study aims to know whether differences in student learning outcomes taught using the Geogebra-assisted Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model and those taught using conventional learning at SMAN 2 Bireuen. This research is a quasi-experimental research with a quantitative approach. The design used is the Pretest Posttest Control Group Design. The population in this research is all students of class X SMAN 2 Bireuen. In this research, we use the purposive sampling technique. The instrument used is a test consisting of pretest and post-test. N-gain was used to find out the increase in students' pretest and post-test scores. The results of the N-gain calculation show that the application of the Geogebra-assisted PjBL learning model can improve student learning outcomes

Abstract

This study aims to determine the students' higher order thinking skills (HOTS) in subject of relation and function. This type of research is a qualitative research with the research subjects being class VIII-1 of SMPN 1 Tanjunganom in the academic year 2020/2021 with a total of 32 students. The data obtained from the HOTS test and interviews. Analysis data used in the form of Bloom's taxonomy analysis. From the results of research conducted by researchers, it shows that the taxonomic percentages of blooms based on each level of C4 (analyze), C5 (evaluate), and C6 (create) are 61.98%, 47.17%, and 48.96%. From the results of the study, the students' HOTS abilities were 1 student in the very good category, 6 students in the good category, 22 students in the sufficient category, 3 students in the poor category, and no students in the very poor category

Abstract

Abstract mathematical concepts require using objects around the student's environment to make mathematical concepts more concrete. One of the objects around that can be used is a cultural object. In particular, the approach that links mathematics with culture is the ethnomathematical approach. This study explores the ethnomathematics of the geometric transformation material on malefo batik, a typical batik of Ternate City. This type of research is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. Data was collected using literature study, observation, interview, and documentation methods. The subject of this research is the owner of the Malefo batik gallery. The data obtained in this study came from direct observation, interviews with research subjects, and document results. The results of the study found that the motifs used in malefo batik can be a concrete example of the types of geometric transformations, namely the translational type of geometric transformation on the clove and machete flower arrangement batik motifs, the type of reflection on the clove flower motif, nutmeg, salawaku, parang and coconut flowers, the type of dilatation in the dodia batik motif, as well as the rotation type in the clove and clove flower motifs. The examples represented in Malefo batik can then be recommended as an alternative learning media to understand the material of geometric transformation better

Abstract

This research aims to find out the misconceptions of students about the concept of the set using certainty of response index (CRI) indicators. The research subjects consisted of 89 students who programmed the Introduction to Basic Mathematics (PDM) course. The research method used is qualitative descriptive. A written test consisting of 4 reasoned multiple choice and descriptive questions were used to collect research data. The results showed that based on CRI criteria, for problem number 1 about the differences of set and not sets, there were 39% of students experiencing misconceptions, 33% of students do not know the concept and 28% of students who know the concept correctly. In question number 2, the questions about three ways of presenting a set of natural, whole, prime and integers numbers, it was found that 12% of students experienced misconceptions and 76% of students did not know the concept because of guessing and lack of knowledge, the remaining 11% of students understand the concept very well. For problem number 3, about the operation of the set found that 30% of students experienced misconceptions, 45% did not know the concept and the remaining 24% understood the concept correctly. Furthermore, for problem number 4, the set operation story was obtained the result that of 19% of students who took the test experienced misconceptions, 57% of students did not understand the concept and only 24% of students understood the concept correctly. In other words, of the 4 questions that were tested on students, questions number 1 and 3 were mostly found by students experiencing misconceptions. Although problem number 2, it was found that at least students experienced misconspection but in this questions almost 80% of students did not know the concept correctly
