Abstract

Library, as a place holding pivotal roles to support instructions at schools, should be led by a competent and qualified leader. The present research is purposefully conducted to assess the training program intended for school library leader candidates. Qualitative method was employed by the implementation of CIPP (Context, Input, Process and Product) model. The data were collected through observations, interviews and document analysis. Snowball sampling technique was utilized to choose the research participants. The participants involved in this research were the head of assurance council, the head of training program, and the training partners. The present research indicates the following findings. Generally, the training is regarded as successfully implemented. To be more specific, 1) context evaluation assesses legal standing, objectives, and target of the training; 2) input evaluation assesses resource of the training; 3) process evaluation assesses trainee recruitment, teaching and learning process, and monitoring-evaluation of the training; and 4) product evaluation assesses cognitive, affective and skill domain of the trainees. The present research implies program segmentation for each level of education due to different problems encountered in reality. Training resource aspect also needs special attention.

Abstract

Online applications are currently growing rapidly in the world of education, one of which is an online dictionary application. The online dictionary application allows students to learn English easily. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research to determine students' perceptions of the use of online dictionary applications to improve students' vocabulary mastery. This study was formulated to find out students' perceptions of using online dictionaries to improve their vocabulary. The method used is a descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of this study were students of class XI TKJ which consisted of 22 students. The instrument of this research is a questionnaire. The results of this study found that 76% of students believe that learning vocabulary through an online dictionary application can help them improve their vocabulary mastery. The results of this study  also found that (17) 77% of students most often use online dictionaries rather than printed dictionaries. Abstract

The utilization of mobile-assisted language learning (MALL) enhances learning activities. As online learning modalities proliferate, Duolingo is becoming increasingly well-known but understudied as an English-learning assessment tool. This study explores the utilization of Duolingo as an English-learning assessment tool, specifically in the context of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in Indonesia. Three Electromedical Engineering students were selected as participants, and semi-structured interviews were conducted to gather data. Thematic Analysis was employed to analyze the collected data. The findings revealed several positive impressions students had when using Duolingo as an English language skills assessment (ELSA) tool, including its engaging nature, facilitation of autonomous language skills assessment, provision of positive motivation, and improvement in vocabulary mastery. However, participants also mentioned drawbacks, such as Duolingo's inability to provide specialized Electromedical Engineering vocabulary, the use of fake images that hindered comprehension of meaning in real-life contexts, and the lack of interactivity in language skills assessment. The study recommends ESP practitioners to consider student-centered learning tools for assessing English proficiency, focusing on the test's purpose, objectives, practicality, reliability, validity, authenticity, and washback effects.

Abstract

STEM, an educational model, equips gifted students with essential skills to foster creative problem-solving. The aim of this study was to capture the STEM-related landscape in high schools. The method used is bibliometric analysis. The data retrieved comes from the database Scopus. The results show that STEM-related publications in high schools continue to increase every year, especially from 2016 to 2021. Publications in 2011 have cited more than 160 citations, this number is more than any other year. Indonesia is the most influential country in this field. The focus of research related to this field is 1) outcomes and motivation; 2) critical thinking and 21st century; 3) problems and development. The new theme for this field is critical thinking, 21st century, project-based learning (PjBL), covid and perception. Keywords that become new themes such as critical thinking not yet connected directly with keywords with other new themes such as perception. Keywords that were the primary focus, such as motivation, outcomes, and STEM in high schools, did not directly align with the emerging theme of Covid. This novelty offers valuable insights for future research.

Abstract

The study which assessed emerging technologies and innovative education in secondary schools for job creation in Anambra State, Nigeria was guided by two research questions adopted descriptive survey research design. The population of the study consists of all the teachers in the 264 secondary schools numbering about 4,370. Cluster random sampling technique was used to select 1,504 teachers for the study. The instrument was self-designed and entitled “Emerging Technologies Innovative Education Questionnaire” (ETIEQ). The validity of the instrument was ensured. Test retest method was used to ascertain the reliability of the instrument and the scores were subjected to Pearson Moment Correlation Coefficient which gave rise to 0.79 which is adjudged reliable. Simple percentage was used for data analysis to answer the research questions. The findings revealed but not limited to: that teachers in secondary schools are not aware of some of the essential emerging technology tools. It is therefore recommended among others that the government and other relevant authorities should expedite action and begin awareness campaign by installing these facilities to schools for use to enable the recipients be job creators and self-reliant upon graduation in many entrepreneurship enterprises thus a greater Nigeria.

Abstract

Creative thinking ability is the ability to create an idea to solve a problem. SDN Glagaharum is one of the elementary schools that has a relatively low creative thinking ability, this can be seen from the ability of students to understand the material in the Merdeka curriculum. To address this, researchers explored the use of the flipped classroom learning model. This study was conducted with the aim of knowing how the flipped classroom model affects the basic creative thinking skills of school students in implementing the Merdeka curriculum. Employing a quantitative experiment, the Posttest Only Control Group Design was employed with a population of 40 fourth-grade students from SDN Glagaharum. Two samples, IV-A (experiment class with 20 students) and IV-B (control class with 20 students), were utilized. Data analysis included normality and homogeneity tests, along with paired sample t-test conducted in SPSS 26. The findings revealed that the flipped classroom learning model had a significant effect on the creative thinking ability of fourth-grade students at SDN Glagaharum within the context of the Merdeka curriculum.
