Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe mathematical communication skills using the cooperative learning model of the power of two and four types better than conventional learning. The study used a quantitative approach with the experimental method. The study population was all eighth grade students of SMPN 51 Merangin which numbered two classes with samples class VIII A as the experimental class and class VIII B as the control class. The instruments used are test questions mathematical communication skills in the form of descriptions. The results of data analysis requirements indicate that the data of the two sample classes are not normally distributed and have a homogeneous variance. Hypothesis testing uses two-independent formula samples with U-test (Mann Whitney). Based on the results of the analysis of research data shows that Sig. greater than α or 0.038 <0.05 in the one-party test. Because Sig. <α then Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted, so that it can be concluded that mathematical communication skills using the synectic learning model are better than conventional learning of class VIII students of SMP 51 Merangin. Keywords: learning model, the power of two and four, conventional, mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low mathematical communication of grade IX students at Merangin 7 Public High School. This is due to the lack of active students in the learning process, students only listen to what the teacher explains without understanding it, so students have not been able to communicate mathematically. To overcome this, the researcher uses a problem solving approach. This study aims to determine whether the mathematical communication skills of class IX students of SMP N 7 Merangin in the 2015/2016 Academic Year taught by problem solving approaches are better than those taught by conventional learning. This type of research is quantitative research with experimental methods. The sample in this study was IXB as the experimental class and IXC class as the control class. Data collected using the technique of mathematical communication skills in the form of essay on congruence material. The data analysis technique used to test the hypothesis is the t-test, because the data are normally distributed and have a homogeneous variance. From the data analysis, the experimental class obtained an average of 73,098, whereas in the control class the average is 59,524. . Hypothesis test results obtained, = 3.802 and = 1.864. Because> then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. So it was concluded that there was an effect of problem solving approach on mathematical communication skills of class IX students of SMP N 7 Merangin in the 2015/2016 school year .Keywords: Mathematical communication skills, problem solving approach

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of student perceptions of the teacher's personality on students' mathematics learning motivation. The research method is descriptive correlational with a quantitative approach. The population in this study were all students of class VIII of SMP Negeri 4 Merangin. The sampling technique was random sampling. Data collection used the questionnaire method for variables X and Y variables. Data were analyzed using spearman rank correlation with a significant level of 5% and followed by simple regression. The results of the calculation of Spearman rank correlation are obtained as big as, whereas for simple regression a linear equation is obtained. The correlation coefficient of 0.455 states that each addition of one score or the personality value of the teacher will give an increase of 0.455. For the significance test obtained F count <F table or 0.4736 <1.77 which means Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted. Keywords: students' perceptions of teacher's personality, learning motivation

Abstract

Purpose of this study is to describe an increase in mathematics learning outcomes in the three dimensional space material using the Aptitude Treatment Interaction (ATI) Model in class X SMA N 3 Merangin Academic Year 2016/2017. This research is a classroom action research which consists of four stages, namely planning, action, observation and reflection carried out in SMA N 3 Merangin with the research subjects being all class XB SMA N 3 Merangin 2016/2017 Academic Year totaling 28 people. The study was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of III meetings. Data was collected using observation and evaluation, observations in the form of student activity sheets, for evaluation of learning outcomes tests in the form of essay test questions. Data analysis techniques use simple statistics. The results of the study indicate that the Aptitude Treatment Interaction (ATI) Learning Model can improve student learning outcomes and the average value of students 64.63 in the first cycle to 88.01 in the second cycle. Increased student mastery learning in the first cycle is 14 students or 46.7% increased in the second cycle to 26 students or 86.7%. Thus the completeness of student learning outcomes has reached more than ≥ 70.00. Based on the results of this study it is expected that teachers can be used to add models in learning so as to improve the ability of students in learning. Keywords: Mathematics Learning, Aptitude Treatment Interaction (ATI) Learning Model, and learning outcomes

Abstract

This study aims to improve the mathematical problem solving skills of VIIC class students of SMPN 11 Merangin with the talking stick learning model 2014/2015 school year. The method in this study was classroom action research (CAR) which was held in VIIC class 11 of Merangin Middle School 2014/2015 academic year. This study consisted of two cycles, each cycle had three meetings, two material meetings and one test meeting. The subjects of this study were VIIC class students of 11 SMA Merangin 2014/2015 academic year which amounted to 23 students. Data is collected using a written test, observation of student and teacher activities, field notes and student documentation during the learning process takes place. The technical analysis of the data used in this study is the analysis of test results data and analysis of student observations. The results showed mathematical problem solving abilities of class VIIC students of SMP 11 Merangin 2014/2015 academic year increased in each cycle with the results of 63.43% in the first cycle and 78.08% in the second cycle or an increase of 14.65% from the first cycle to cycle II. For student activities also experienced an increase from the percentage of 59% in the first cycle to 80.5% in the second cycle or an increase of 21.5% from cycle I to cycle II. From these results it can be concluded that the talking stick learning model can improve students' mathematical problem-solving skills on the subject of triangles and rectangles. Keywords: Talking Stick, Mathematical Problem Solving Ability
