Abstract

Silver nanomaterials is widely investigated since its promising application for optics, catalysis, sensor, and anti-bacterial agent. The physical and chemical properties of nanomaterials are strongly dependent to its size and shape. Thus, it is important to be able to produce nanomaterials with define size and shape to better understand the most dominant factor influence its properties. Silver nanocubes with edge length of 50 nanometer is synthesized through polyol synthesis method using silver nitrate as the precursor. Seed-mediated growth technique is further utilized to synthesis silver nanocubes with larger edge length of about 200 nanometer. In conclusion, polyol method is a facile method to synthesize nanocubes with varieties of edge length.

Abstract

N-benzoyl-N’-phenylthiourea (C14H12N2OS) has been synthesized and have potential application due to their coordination behavior toward transitional metal and also their biological activity. Iron metal was considered as one of the candidates to form complex compounds with the ligand. This study aims to examine the stability of the Iron and N-benzoyl-N’-phenylthiourea complex compound. The calculation was run under Unrestricted-Hartree-Fock method with STO-3G basis set. The higher level basis set, such as 6-31G was used to determine the energy analysis and the properties of the complex. The calculation shows that a complex structure was formed by iron(III) and the ligan through bonds with S and O atoms. On the otherway, iron(III) complex with the ligand via N atoms was not formed. It might be explained by the presence of steric hindrance in the complex.

Abstract

In this research, high voltage testing on transformer oil were done to obtain its breakdown voltage. Type of the transformer oil that used in this testing is Shell Oil Diala B. The breakdown voltage test was carried out by increasing the temperature of the oil to change its viscousity. Half ball electrodes was used in the testing by applying AC high voltage 50 Hz to measure the breakdown voltage. Experimental results shows that the viscousity of the transformer oil is affecting the value of breakdown voltage. The breakdown voltage of the transformer oil will be bigger when the viscousity is lower. This is because oil which has low viscousity will be difficult to be contaminated by impurities that have potential to form conductive bridge on the oil.

Abstract

In this research, geopolymer based fly ash was synthesized to be applied as planting media, especially on hydroponics system. Variables used in this study were variations of alkali NaOH and KOH with concentrations of 2M, 3M, and 4M in each alkali. In addition, variations in the ratio of solids / liquids to the geopolymer formulations of 75:25 and 70:30 were added. The Na2SiO3 was added for a perfect geopolymerization process. After geopolymer was formed, the result of material was leached with distilled water until pH becomes 6-7 making it suitable for planting media application. In each variable, the porosity (related to the ability of the material to absorb water) were determined and characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) to clarify that the phase formed indicates the geopolymerization process. Based on the research that has been done, it found that geopolymer of NaOH 4M 75:25 has highest porosity of 2.4%wt which indicate high ability to absorp water and nutrient. While optimum geopolymer conditions for planting medium which showed solution pH of 7 after immersed for four days were KOH 4M 75:25 and NaOH 4 M 70:30.

Abstract

The steam turbine is one of the components in combined steam and gas power plant PT. X which serves to expand the vapor to produce mechanical energy to drive the generator. In operation, steam turbine can pose a danger to humans, one of which is noise. Noise is the emergence of unwanted sounds that may interfere with or endanger health. Based on the decision of the Minister of Manpower, Transmigration and Cooperatives No. 51 / Men / 1999, noise threshold of 85 dB(A) per 8 hours per day. If exposure to noise exceeds the noise threshold continuously, it may cause disruption to nearby workers. Therefore, research will be conducted to control the noise level by designing the enclosure in the steam turbine block I - PLTGU PT. X. Based on the measurement results that have been done,, the highest noise level on each floor is 93.6 dB (A) for the 1st floor, 90.7 dB (A) for the 2nd floor, and 93.2 dB (A) for the 3rd floor in the overall frequency. Based on the noise level after the enclosure design, the material suitable for the enclosure design in the steam turbine unit Block I - PLTGU is an aluminum sheet with a thickness of 1 mm. The addition and design of the enclosure can reduce the noise level by ± 25.8 dB (A).

Abstract

This paper looks at how Finite State Machine (FSM) can be applied to design a game application namely “Pilah Sampah” as a business model diagram. “Pilah Sampah” aims to classify waste into organic and non-organic by using touch screen. In this game, scores will be added if an user can put the waste into the right place and vice versa. The type of FSM used in this paper is non- deterministic finite automaton (NFA) with epsilon (ϵ) transition or known as ϵ-NFA (Epsilon NFA). Basically, each transition, input and state of NFA shows the behaviour of the game. The importance of this research is to show that automata theory can be used to help a game developer to design a game. After doing blackbox test for “Pilah Sampah” game, it results that the game application can be developed by the ϵ-NFA modeling.

Abstract

Self Excited Induction Generator (SEIG) is widely used in isolated area due to the ability to produce excitation indipendently without having to connect with the grid. Often SEIG operates as single phase to adjust load condition in isolated area. Three phase SEIG is able to operated as single phase, but this condition causes derating on the machine due to stator unbalance. This research proposed optimal sizing of excitation capacitor for three phase SEIG operated in single phase load. Optimal sizing of excitation capacitor is aimed to maximize SEIG capacity by considering operation limit of current and voltage stator. Firefly Algorithm (FA) is used to optimize capacitor size. Optimization result is verified through simulation on a three phase induction machine, 0.75kW , 380V, 50Hz, 4 poles. Simulation results show that proposed method is able to increased output power of SEIG up to 36%.

Abstract

Knowledge management in an organisation/firm has an important role to create and maintain competitive advantages in the global market. The main objectives of knowledge management are to maintain firm’s dynamic and competitiveness, to facilitate knowledge culture and improvement of human resource performances, to get added values and to create new and integrated inovation. Using primary data from the field trip, this paper aims to (1) identify implementation of knowledge management in PTPN 7 Lampung; and (2) provide implication for decision makers in PTPN 7 Lampung to maximize knowledge management of the human resources. Implementation of knowledge in PTPN 7 Lampung has been conducted. However some obstacles have been occured particularly in relating/combining individual and group knowledges that can be managed to be firm’s advantages. The obstacle can cause organisation fails to gain sustainable innovation. Internal improvement is needed in order to implement the fourth knowledge management elements i.e, socialization, externalization, combination and internalization.

Abstract

Future scenario planning for public services and their impact on civil servants aims to give an idea of ​​how public services will look like in the next 20 to 30 years. Future scenarios are developed based on improvement of the application of information technology to improve public services' quality. Then, the future scenario planning that developed for public services is expected to provide an overview of the government how future will occur, especially its impact on civil servants. Thus, the government will be able to determine the right strategy to address the scenarios that will occur. Future Scenarios are developed using Scenario Planning method by applying 7 steps of future scenario development. Then, three possible scenarios were selected and analyzed to identify the impact including solution proposals using McKinsey 7s analysis. The results of this paper show the 3 most likely scenarios relating to future public services and their impact on civil servants and then one of the most relevant scenario is selected using the justification matrix for impact analysis and solution proposals using 7s McKinsey.

Abstract

Siwalan have latin name as Botassus Flabellifer L. Type of flora which widely spread in eastern Indonesia such as Nusa Tenggara Timur, Nusa Tenggara Barat, Southern Sulawesi, Bali, and East Java. Siwalan has become one of local icon in Gresik (East Java) which is processed into traditional beverage “legen”, its leaves as food packaging, and its fruit/ental become snack. Making it as a beverage and local cuisine traded as well as a livelihood object of the population. One siwalan seller is usually processed 500-1000 pieces of fruit within a maximum period of five days. By observing both social and environmental indications, it can now be assumed that there is enough availability of siwalan in Gresik, siwalan as a food commodity, and limited research of handycraft design, and the waste of siwalan shell. If the was siwalan waste is decomposed, then it can be found fiber which has lengthwise physical properties. Fiber can be processed into yarn through spinning and become raw material of handicraft. Hence, to complete the research it needs practical research approaching process which includes qualitative, quantitative, and experimental, so that the purpose of the research which is to enhance the material of siwalan shell and to produce variant yarn will be achieved. And therefore, through such process, the advantages of the research are not only to open the siwalan fiber as an alternative option as raw material of handicraft, but it can also be taken as references by craftsmen as business with local wisdom.
