Abstract

Alar is one of retardation, which accelerates the growth of aksiler shoots, shortens stem joint and strengthens the stem. Alar addition into the medium is assumed to be able to increase the success of Chrysanthemum tissue culture in quantity and quality. The objectives of the research was to finding the best of media to producing a shorter plantlet and has a big stem diameter and the best of number shoots. The research was done in Biotechnology Laboratory of Agriculture Faculty of Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University of Malang. The research was established on January to Juny, 2009. The research used Factorial Complete Random Design, which consists of 2 factors. Factor I: Concentration of Alar was 0 mg/l (A0), 1.0 mg/l (A1) and 2.0 mg/l (A2). Factor II: Concentration of Benzylzdenine (BA) was 1.0 mg/l (B1), 2.0 mg/l (B2) and 3.0 mg/l (B3). There were 9 treatment combinations and repeated 4 times. The observation done on parameter: when the shoot grows, leaf number, shoot number, plantlet height, stem diameter, when the root grows, root number, and acclimatization success percentage. The result of the research showed that the adding of Alar and BA into Chrysanthemum micro-propagation medium had influence on the all parameters. 2.0 mg/l Alar application combined with 1.0 mg/l BA (A2B1) produced shorter plantlet (2.73 cm), bigger stem diameter plantlet (0.20 cm), and produced a better shoot number (20.25 shoots/explant) by the 10th week of culture

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the level of protein stage that gives the best results against the metabolizable energy of Local Chickens. The results of this research are expected can be a consideration and information about the differences effect of the dietary protein provision to the digestibility of metabolizable energy in Local Chicken, especially in the "New" strain of Local Chickens. This research was conducted at the Field Laboratory of Animal Husbandry, University of Tribhuwana Tunggadewi, Malang and at the Laboratory of Animal Nutrition and Feed, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, the University of Brawijaya in January 2014 until February 2014. The method that used in this research was the biological experimental method and the materials that used are the local chicken which the result of cross-breeding between Kedu's chicken and Male Bangkok's chicken, with a number of materials are 20 materials and the each weight are 800 grams. The conclusion of this research shows that the value of Crude Protein (PK) is proportional to the metabolic energy's value, which is in this research shows that the lower Crude Protein value gives impact on the degradation of metabolizable energy. The metabolizable energy in the P2 treatment provides the best metabolizable energy in the Local Chicken. So it may be advisable to conduct the further research using the same objects and the studies are more diverse, given the object of the research is the "New" strain of Local Chicken.

Abstract

Degradation of agricultural soils is not only due to application of over dose fertilizers and pesticides, but also industrial and mining activities. In Indonesia there are 713 spots of small scale gold mining surrounding agricultural land, and the process of amalgation is potential for heavy metal pollution. The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of Vetiveria zizanoides L and biochar to remediate soils contaminated with small scale gold mine tailings containing Hg and Pb.. The results indicated that soil pH decreased from 9,1 to 6-7 due to micing FeSO4 into cow manure and biochar, and also increased soil C-organic, N, P, K and CEC. Vietiveria zizanoides grown in the tailing medida showed capability to absorb Hg and Pb from the soil and stored in the root (Hg 88,91% and Pb 51,17%), leaves (Hg 11.09% and Pb 48.83%)
