Abstract

This study explores the implementation of theologically-based, or "Theo-management,” specifically within the context of LP3I Purwokerto, a leading Islamic vocational college in Indonesia. The objective is to investigate the unique interplay between Islamic theological values and the development of corporate culture and its impact on organizational behavior in the institution. Adopting a phenomenological approach within a naturalistic qualitative research design, the study employs interviews, observational techniques, and document analysis to collect a comprehensive dataset. Findings unveil six distinctive practices embedding Islamic principles into the corporate culture, fostering a religious observance sphere that influences work ethics, employee motivation, organizational learning, loyalty, and belief in the divine. While providing a nuanced understanding of the Theo-management model's potential benefits, the study's context-specificity prompts further exploration into diverse organizational and cultural settings. Thus, the research contributes to a deeper comprehension of religious influence on corporate culture and organizational behavior while calling for extended investigations in varied environments.

Abstract

This study investigates teachers' access to digital technologies in Public Basic Schools in Asante Akim Central Municipality, Ghana. The study uses a quantitative approach to evaluate the availability and types of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools, teachers' motivational and physical comfort with digital technologies, and their skills and usage patterns. Engaging with 108 teachers highlights gaps in access to and use of ICT tools. The results demonstrate that while teachers have access to digital tools such as laptops and smartphones, their access to specific software and digital tools is limited. In terms of motivation, teachers are primarily intrinsically motivated to use digital technologies. Teachers exhibited comfort and confidence in utilizing ICT tools, indicating operational skills and access to ICT. The findings underline the need to address these educational implementation gaps and reduce the digital divide. This research contributes to the literature on digital technology access in developing countries and provides valuable insights for stakeholders involved in integrating educational technology.

Abstract

The research presented in this article seeks to reconstruct the concept of smart villages, focusing on the alignment with the aspirations of lecturers at the Educational Management Department at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. In collaboration with Pesantren Joglo Alit, a smart public space model was developed to pioneer Smart Village, emphasizing social, cultural, economic, and ecological enhancements to support a better quality of life. Through Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations, and Results (SOAR) analysis on two levels—academic society aspiration and mutual partner aspiration—a prototype of smart villages was constructed. The research identifies three strategic issues: smart village, star-up for education, and laboratory for social service. Several alternative models for smart village development were explored, leading to the agreement on an enterprise model in the targeted village. The prototype implementation took 41 days, and its implications offer a nuanced understanding of how education can drive broader relevant competencies in smart village development. The findings have significant implications for education, rural development, and sustainability. Constraints such as low technology are acknowledged, and recommendations for future research and policy formulation are provided.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of Electronic Word of Mouth (E-WOM) on public trust in Islamic boarding schools, using Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School as a case study. Applying symbolic interactionism, the research aims to understand how E-WOM shapes public perceptions in this educational context. A qualitative approach employing naturalistic phenomenology and descriptive analysis involving observations, interviews, and documentation was used. The findings indicate that E-WOM, utilized since 2018 at Nurul Jadid, has significantly enhanced the school's public image and trust, notably increasing student enrollment and international attention. Key strategies include effective digital content creation and audience engagement. However, the study’s focus on a single institution suggests the need for broader research to generalize these findings. Implications for educational administrators and policymakers include strategic insights for digital communication and public engagement. This research contributes to the academic discourse in communication and educational studies, offering a novel application of symbolic interactionism in digital communication. Future research should examine E-WOM’s long-term effects on institutional reputation and explore its application in diverse educational settings.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the monitoring, supervision, and curriculum improvement system in the Arabic Language Education Study Program at Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Negeri Mandailing Natal (STAIN Madina), assessing its effectiveness in enhancing Arabic language competence and supporting Islamic learning. Utilizing a qualitative research design, the study employs a case study methodology, combining interviews, observations, and documentation analysis. The findings reveal that the monev system, involving comprehensive planning, implementation, and reporting, effectively covers graduate competency standards, content standards, process standards, and learning assessment standards. The structured approach, involving multiple stakeholders, ensures thorough evaluation and continuous improvement. However, limitations such as the need for more in-depth internal supervision of content standards and challenges related to human resources and stakeholder engagement were noted. These findings are significant for higher education institutions aiming to enhance their curriculum systems, offering a model for structured monitoring and supervision. Further research is recommended to explore integrated internal supervision mechanisms and long-term effects on student outcomes.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of job performance and job satisfaction on employee work effectiveness at the Yogyakarta Special Region Education Quality Assurance Institute amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Addressing the novel challenges posed by the work-from-home policy, the research aims to elucidate the direct influence of these variables in a transformed work environment. Utilizing a stratified random sampling method based on Slovin's formula, the study engaged 82 employees from BPMP Yogyakarta, employing bivariate correlation and double linear regression analysis. The results revealed a strong positive correlation between job performance and work effectiveness (Pearson Correlation: 0.883), with job performance and satisfaction collectively accounting for 82.7% of work effectiveness (R Square: 0.827). These findings highlight the critical role of job performance and satisfaction in enhancing work effectiveness, especially under pandemic-induced remote working conditions. However, the study's context-specific nature and reliance on self-reported measures suggest caution in generalization. The study's implications are significant for human resource strategies in similar institutions, advocating the need for adaptable and resilient work environments in challenging times. Future research should extend these findings to various organizational contexts and explore the long-term implications of remote working on these variables.
